Hi! I also don't comment often, but since you seem to be a fan of Middle Grade, I just had to recommend A Face Like Glass by Frances Hardinge. I read it in 2018 and it became one of my all time favorite books. I have truly never read anything like it before.

The Shadow of the Wind is one of my absolute all time faourites. I was so sad when the author passed away a few summers ago, but seriously you should read it, once you do you will love it forever. He has a unique style of writing, the way he describes Barcelona, where everything happens, it's incredible. For everyone out there who speak Spanish, I highly recommend to read it Spanish. I read it when I was 17, and it was my second year in school here in Spain and even though my Spanish was still quite bad I enjoyed it immensely. This book is the reason why I became such an avid reader.

I had the same exact feeling about Under the Whispering Door! I had just finished Cerulean, and fell head over heels in love with the characters. Immediately, I hated Wallace. I was like, ehhhh. BUT....BUT! When I got over that and met the rest of the characters, I was all in. By the end, I was crying and mourning Wallace. It's so beautiful, and the redemption story is so satisfying. Loved it.

I’m currently reading both Bleak House and Amari and the Night Brothers. Bleak House is a beast so I can understand the intimidation factor - I’m only on around page 230 or so and I’ve been reading it since Christmas. Amari is obviously a much quicker read and has a “Harry Potter meets Men in Black” sort of thing. Enjoying both books so far. And as everyone else is saying, your bookshelves are everything! 😍 Thanks for all the great content 😊☕️

I have been following you for a long time now and I really enjoy all your videos! Goal is to view most of them :p
I was wondering, since you are such a fan of Middle Grade/Fantasy/Magic Realism, if you've read Edward Carey's Iremonger trilogy?
I bought the first 2 books a couple years ago and I love them so much!!! I haven't seen it in you videos, so maybe I inspired you now to check it out ;)
And a big thanks, because I am now more focused on Middle Grade books than before! I didn't even really knew it was a genre. But all the books you've read and recommend look so lovely and sound so great! I can't wait to read Greenglass House! Which isn't on your favorites list on GR :o I just sent you a friendrequest :)

This is a great list. There are many here that I am interested in myself. This year I want to read more books that I have or been on my backlist than new releases. I haven't even looked into what is coming out, because I am not interested at the moment. I also want to read sequels that I did decide to follow during a series tbr thing I did to get me to read the first books of series that I have purchased. There are maybe four series, out of the seventeen, that I did decide to continue on there, so The Merciless One, Harrow the Ninth, Along the Saltwise Sea, and A Psalm of Storm and Silence are very high up on my list.

Dickens is my favorite author. I just completed Bleak House and loved it. What I do w classics is I have a reading plan of about 30 pages a day. I read 16 classics last year that way as I always have one going. I do read about 3 other books at the same time but my first reading everyday is my classic 30 pages approx.
I’m also reading The Mistborn Trilogy as well and loving it. I’ve read Elantris also and loved it as well.

The Canterbury Tales! I read that in the “original” Middle English and it was Difficult. But I did enjoy it a lot and hope you do too! (Same with the Iliad!) I was going to comment on the Shadow of the Wind because I haven’t heard anyone talk about it being difficult to get into because I feel the same way! I have tried it multiple times and I just can’t seem to push through or keep going. And I wish I could because everyone talks about how amazing it is!
Finishing the Mistborn series is a priority for me this year as well! But I never actually finished the first one. I put it down because I was reading it too quickly! But there’s so many books to read! Good luck with your reading! 💙✨☕️

It’s so good to have you back!
Shadow of the wind is a fantastic book, but it spans years and is episodic so you do have to settle in for the long haul!
Ariadne and Norwegian Wood I haven’t heard much that is positive so I’ll just leave that right there.
Cloud Atlas. It is confusing! I had to listen to a discussion about it while I was reading it in order to make sense of what I was reading!
BeastsoEC was nothing like I thought it would be. It’s a slow story with an endearing main character but the narrator is in a journey of self discovery and it spans years - it’s just different.
I just finished Beloved, and Lorna Doone. Both were an emotional wrestling match but I’m so glad I’ve read them.

It’s so well written, the main character Sabriel is searching for her missing father who is a necromancer - in charge of keeping the dead DEAD and also sending all the monsters and evil into the death realm. That all goes wrong when he goes missing and Sabriel must go on a quest into the old kingdom to find him and learn how to become a necromancer too! So EPIC! xx

David Mitchell is my all time favourite author. Cloud Atlas is fab, and if you like that, you must read The Bone Clocks. He's quite influenced by Murakami to my mind, so you've got a great year ahead of you.
Also: 100 Years of Solitude is gorgeous. My son's middle name is Gabriel, partly because of Marquez, and Bleak House is sumptuous. I would suggest a good Autumnal read because of the atmosphere. BBC did a marvelous adaption of it maybe 12 years ago. Highly recommend that too. I'm so excited to see what you think, some of my favourite authors in this list for sure!

Just recently got in to You Tube [I know] and found your channel. From one book lover to another THANK YOU for some ideas on new books to read. Cloud Atlas was on my list last year and it's sitting on the teetering pile that is my night stand. Hoping to read it this year! I do have a suggestion, I absolutely LOVE a series called The Chronicles of St. Mary's by Jodi Taylor. Now this may sound like some sort of Catholic story but its totally not! And I quote "is about time travel-but please, that term is never used: the tea soaked disaster magnets at St. Mary's Institute for Historical Research, an adjunct of the University of Thirsk, conducts investigations of major historical events in contemporary time". It's hilarious and I really enjoy the spinoff series too.

I want to read The Mortal Instruments and the Grisha trilogy this year as I haven’t read these yet! I also have Ariadne and Amari on my TBR as well.

For everyone liking Greek myth retellings specifically Madeline miller's style, please read a Norse myth retelling called the witch's heart! It's so good and I cried a little bit reading it. I can't stop recommending it to everyone who wants a female character focused myth retelling
