Guys, I'm a proper rugby 'pod head,' and your weekly chat is right up there with the best. I love the relaxed and laid-back format, yet it's still incredibly informative and not limited to just one or two topics. I especially enjoy the digressions.
One of the most exciting contests within a rugby match is the scrum. At the nub of this is the front row contest. The two prop positions are technically very different. If you played as a forward, you will appreciate this and enjoy watching every scrum contest. Some supporters, and even a few backline players do not know which side the loose head, or tight head, packs down. Thanks for highlighting, and championing, the value of the props in this glorious game.
Any chance you guys can ever interview Juan Smith. That man was the real deal and I always feel he is not given his dues. Similar to Mostert but anyway, great show guys.
Jean I know that this has nothing to do with rugby but many years ago I was a press photographer and was sent to Wellington to get a pic of your dad at the pastorie, your mom arrived and put your very young sister on his desk and she pulled a face it made a lovely photograph of them both anyway years later your dad caught me at graduation day at Stellenbosch and told the baby I had photographed on the desk had just graduated.
On the topic of Crowds at SA games. Schalk hit the nail on the head. "it has to be more than just rugby, it has to be an event". This came through so strongly on the Eggchasers videos on his recent trip to SA.
Watched a few of the boks office episodes and you are by far leading the way in game details, experience and unbiased discussions....shim, jean and SB you 3 have such a good chemistry and jokes that keeps me hooked to this compared to the other podcasts and rugby shows. ABs supporter and listener to the boks office 💪💯
I love these videos. The laid back vibe is so good because it’s basically like watching three best mates having a chat - a very intelligent rugby chat.
what makes this show authentic is they just go with the flow. Beers, drywors, some snacks - oke's are so used to just waiting for kick off. Love to see it
Was chatting with a mate last weekend about how great Skalla is to listen to on TV (or RUclips). And if you remember the first time he covered punditry on SuperSport, he didn't seem comfortable at all. He's come a hell of a long way.
I might have been not the only one to think that Rassie has planted in the Boks mind getting 18 or more Test wins in a row. I would not put it past him. Its a "side" incentive because its on. Having said that, think about the following: Two RWC's. British and Irish Lions. If we beat Argentina (which we should,) then thats another Rugby Championship. Then it's the end of year tour which IS winnable, given the state of the opposition. Then next year, including warm up Tests. Never mind the upcoming full tour series against the AB's. A hard task. But possible. My point is not that we CAN win 18 straight, but that if Rassie and the Bokke , after all they have achieved, then go on to win a third straight RWC, all if which is a beyond belief tough task, then there could be no doubt that this Bok side would be the greatest ever Rugby side in the history of Rugby, and that Rassie will be bigger than Doc Craven. And thats saying something. We better enjoy this ride while it lasts, because I've never seen anything like it in my 55 years of living and dying Bok Rugby. One game at a time, boys. One.
De Villiers is a gentleman and a scholar. Legend of the game. One is the greats. -------------- Burger was one of the best too. An absolute machine that never had a bad game. He would take on the biggest player all day. Running full speed into them. I’m a little worried about his head knocks and what that did to his mind. Hopefully he will have a long life
The opening 2 minutes busting Shimmy’s balls for “being late” sets the tone for this episode and it just keeps going … 16 minutes in and they’re just shooting the shit 🤣, compulsory viewing, nice work lads, love from Perth, Australia 🫡
Great show, but don't you want to put some ND filters on the windows? take the exterior exposure down by a couple of stops and you'd improve the pictures 100%
If the Irish move to a UK type competition, then maybe we should rebuild the Currie Cup again, open it up to all 14 unions, and then the top teams qualify for the Champions Cup. But our lower teams will need a lot of funding.
Do a BO at Camps Bay.... they play kak rugby, but you can't beat the view of the beach over the field (which explains why they excel at surfing but not ball sports... or those ball sports).
That's why SA wins the most world cups of any nation. Our players put their country 1st before any club...they are 100% committed to their nation than to any club. In France it's the other way around...which is why they have zero world cups and have won the 6 nations only once in over a decade.
I think its great tbh, good developmental comp to blood new players while mixing in some experienced veterans to guide them, then URC as the next level to blood new boks. The French have 3 very strong divisions in their club rugby, the fan interest they generate and overall health of French rugby is what has made them so competitive internationally. If SA can continue under the structures we've built over the last 5-10 years, we'll be in a very good space for a very long time.
Sorry guys I can't agree with the Top 14 and Premiership not having to care about international rugby. Test Rugby is the top level of the game. If players are called up for international duty in a window clubs must release them or face sanctions. We are never going to see Rugby grow if we're walking on Egg shells around the French. Its insane how France is allowed to make a mockery of June tests by always sending a 2nd or 3rd string team around the world
Agree wholeheartedly with this. Other nations should refuse to play France in November tests if they carry on like this. Let’s see how they like it when they lose money from not hosting lucrative homes games vs NZ, SA etc

My fav blindside
In my opinion the most underrated player of all time...he was a beast 💪
@@shakes7501 Now THAT man knew the meaning of "The BUS IS FULL" . He had a hand off better than an Italian pickpocket.
@mikezog1030 yeah and so strange that his never mentioned amongst the greats
@@shakes7501 I think of Juan Smith and Andre Venter as being giants of the game from similar eras.
You guys are such chilled people love it!

Was Jean's dad a reverend?

JDV gives me so much life 😂😂😂 "but is he happy Shimmy?" 😅😂
Think you guys should keep the cameras Rollin for few minutes in introduction similar to the overlap. Enjoy the banter

"But is he happy Shimmy?" 🤣🤣🤣
what makes this show authentic is they just go with the flow.

He's come a hell of a long way.
we here the Boks office is open
if you did this show 1 day later you'd have the team selection to talk about.
Love the show!
So great to watch 👏👏👍
Love the dopping stories 🤣🤣🤣. Bloody great show, keep it up men!
Why are dopping stories important? Alcohol is a social drug.
Respect 🫡 .. great show.
Love the energy
"The bloody bulls", man after my own heart
Great show boys! Love it. Keep it up.

Who’s running the catering over there? Dare I ask. It always strikes me as very scarce. Feed the boys!
They get feed proper on the Hirsch's podcast.... there is endless sources of meat, wors, biltong.
love this podcast. shoutout!!!1
Excellent content as always
Excellent!!!!
Jean de Villiers what a gret lad
In Paarl, not all heroes wear capes, some wear slops and golf shirts.
De Villiers is a gentleman and a scholar.
Legend of the game.
One is the greats.
--------------
Burger was one of the best too.
An absolute machine that never had a bad game.
He would take on the biggest player all day. Running full speed into them.
I’m a little worried about his head knocks and what that did to his mind.

Wow great 🇿🇦🌟⭐☀️ great topics and consideration

love this!
Scalla’s laugh is so infectious
"thank you beast!" 😂😂😂❤
Good show boys
Show needs to change to filmed on Tuesdays so they can talk about the team!
Gotta love shimmy
I love this podcast show .Do u guys ever go to less fortunate schools and identify promising rugby players.
Hope im wrong but these argies are on fire, they get their energy from a a similar source than we do.
Glad to see JDV looking well after he aged 20 years since his retirement
I agree don't dilute rugby set it up as special events and everyone will look forward to the next game.
Love your banta and stories guys.
Omar is a brilliant defense coach. Met him a few times
This is the first time seeing beer glasses not going down 🍻
Great show, but don't you want to put some ND filters on the windows? take the exterior exposure down by a couple of stops and you'd improve the pictures 100%
Nice chat boys. I watch it and the wife’s wondering why. 😂 loved it . 😜 She’s English and I’m a sout piel. That’s why ❤
Skalk ask your father when Moaner got both him and George at BoetE against Transvaal. What a punch that was!
Ever thought of doing the Boks Office at different schools or rugby clubs?
Charlize Theron and Bono. Two worst celebs to ever run into HAHAHA.
I don’t think the Irish teams will go for this. The URC structure is better for us all.
We need an African league .grow the talent in and around Africa 😊
The Irfu will not agree to this without the Italian and South African teams being involved.
Best 😅 rugby show
Shimi and wearing his grey jeans in this show🤞🏼

When you recording at SACS ?
You must do SACS soon
Could've mentioned the Currie Cup Semi Finals 😢
I remember a guy by the name of Less Kiss that helped out Alan Solomon at the Stormers
Isn't he in Australia?
Interesting from Schalk given Snyman hasn't tried a leg with Munster
Do a BO at Camps Bay.... they play kak rugby, but you can't beat the view of the beach over the field (which explains why they excel at surfing but not ball sports... or those ball sports).
What about a challenge? Sober October? For you guys.
Julle is weer top op die game. Schalk ek sê nou nog my coach het gejok in Kippies Windhoek, jy kon my brandewyn drink en ek sou net help😂😂
Super cool episode! Let us know what you make of the RugbyHubs latest Preview? 🏉
Afrikaburn Boks Office special 😄
With the talent coming through from Currie Cup why don't we send the top 3 or4 teams to the Super Rugby
Good rugby player

Jeepers, you guys went on drinking and we the fools wondered why u lost so often! Wile we were shouting our lungs out
I feel like I'm going out of my mind. Were they talking about at 8:49??
Drew Brees
@@Kid_Senekal Thank you.
Ja or nee finished me
Didn't the premiership want the URC teams except SA and Italy (that will include Scotland and Wales)?
They did. A case of wait and see for us.
I remember that game. Not sure why Jean pushed him.
Currie Cup is no longer premier rugby in SA. Second division rugby.
I think its great tbh, good developmental comp to blood new players while mixing in some experienced veterans to guide them, then URC as the next level to blood new boks. J dV was “too shy” lol 😜
Why is Jean on his phone the whole time?
For the foreigners watching this, worth considering that none of the people on this show are speaking their home language.
is there a clip of when JD "saved the guys life"
Also borges what a player... key for the 2007 world cup puma run for 3rd place.
Is anybody going to have those beers?
This is the most un south African thing ever - the beers are completely untouched, but the water bottles get a work out LOL. Seriously, love the show
