Hi M! What a finale right? Everything in this ep, the duel of Ben & Ani, Leia's heartwarming scenes with Ben, Luke surviving because of Reva's PTSD, and of course, QUI GON JINN!!! This episode really pulled on the heartstrings M!
Off topic comment, but when you decide to watch Jurassic World: Dominion when it comes out as digital, you have to watch the Prologue first to understand the T-Rex's backstory. It is a RUclips exclusive 5-minute film.
I loved your Commentary With this series you are perfect And I can not believe this is the 1st time for me seeing your channel but you definitely earned a sub. Thank you
That Vader mask scene was incredible, the way his voice shifted between Anakin and Vader along with the blue and red illuminating his face turning him from Anakin into an evil devil was beautiful
Lol it was done in rebels, better too go watch it
I loved that. It low-key showed Anakin was still sort of there (sort off in a way) a confliction . i took this moment as obi wan realising Anakin is gone but with the eye colour changing and the lighting showing us yes anakin still dims in Vader but at this time it’s just truly Darth Vader. And as Luke in the end “saves” Anakin.. This was great story telling ! Also in the new hope Vader tells Obi wan “it’s is I who’s the master now” meaning he’s learned from this last duel here. Amazing.
@@ajrochester9364 it was better done in rebels have you ever heard of it?
@@ofenomeno1381 thats not true at all, the rebels scene was great, but this was special
@@ofenomeno1381 they were both done very well.
Now we know why Leia named their first child Ben.
Damn I didn’t even think of that
What, you just now figured that out?
I completely forgot that Kylo's actual name was Ben...
@@Caseytify we always knew she named him after Ben. But we never knew why until now. He didn’t do much in ANH for her to name her son after him
@@silence3314 it was obvious she knew pretty well cause she sended R2 to obi at the begining of ANH
Finally, after 45 years of Star Wars, Leia is the first person who made Obi-Wan laugh!
Besides Anakin briefly in Episode 3. When they made that joke about the trap and Dooku on the Invisible hand
@@IHopegood I was thinking he chuckled in AOTC when he and Anakin were first going to see Padme.
Obi-Wan kind of chuckles in a New Hope when Luke asks “Ben” if he knows who Obi-Wan is.
@@stevebragg4256 that too
Grievous always made his best friend Obi Wan laugh and vice versa
When Vader says **"I am not your failure"** , his face is covered in blue light as if Anakin Is accepting the apology from Obi wan . Then his face turns red , when Vader returns with darkness . This was so symbolising in a way that even though He's Darth Vader there's is still some Anakin left in him only those who really know him can take out .(Another instance Ashoka ) and Finally Master Qwai Gon for 5secs after two and a half decades
Overally what a great short series which greatly connects the events , also keeping the characters comically accurate . I will be not mad or sad if we don't get a season 2 .
OMG
wow, copying your comments on all the shill reactions?
@@Briansgate wow, you learned about the existence of the word "shill"?
thank you someone who understands the scene and dialogue in detail
We're getting a second season since the first one did such a good job. I looked it up because I didn't want to see it end on a cliffhanger, seeing Vader say to Palpatine that Obiwan is nobody anymore, he only serves the Emperor. Plus we need to see what happens in between this last fight and the next fight when Vader is more concentrated and ObiWan more experienced. Even though, i still don't really believe that he could lift all those rocks at the end when he's fighting Vader. Only a true Jedi Master or Sith Lord could do that. Even a higher rank if even. It just shows that some of the producers of the show doesn't exactly know how the Force works strength wise.
I love that now both Ahsoka & Obi-Wan have cut off a part of Vader’s mask & got see his actual eyes.
and Vader inadvertently freeing both of them from the guilt that they felt at failing Anakin by telling both of them that Vader is the only one responsible for Anakin's "destruction".
What's even more amazing is that Anakin cut off the right part, and Obi Wan cut off the left side. Both only got to see the surface of what was left in the cracked heart of Anakin. And only when the last thing he had from Padme, when the life of Luke was in danger, he sacrificed himself and his son was the only one to finally take of his full helmet, letting Darth Vader die and Anakin returning to speak his last words to his son.
Spoiler?
@@stn0thing It's been out for a while bro
@@SilverFang95 I know, I already saw rebels 😌
"He's more machine now than man. Twisted and evil."
- Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Your father was seduced by the dark side he ceased to be Anakin Skywalker and became Darth Vader when that happened the good man that was your father was destroyed so what I told you was true from a certain point of view
I liked how he calls Anakin “Darth”, which is his Sith title, not his name, which is what he calls him in their final duel in A New Hope.
Because he is a Darth now
I liked that too
@@pop-culturecinephile8144 yet he called Maul by his Sith name
@@bemasaberwyn55
We'll Maul wasn't really a Lord of the Sith at that point. Yes he technically was, but also technically he wasn't. He's nobody's master, nobody's apprentice, and he seeks vengeance against the sith as well as the jedi..
But Darth is the epitome of Darth for Kenobi.
Obi sees Vader as a husk of his former friend and pupil. By only calling him Darth, he doesnt acknowledge Vader as being his own individual. After all his friend is "truly dead" ...
Vader telling Obi Wan "I am not your failure" inadvertently let Obi Wan release himself from the guilt of Anakin's fall to the dark side, which was likely what Qui Gon was waiting for before appearing.
Ewan's use of "Hello there." is a call back to Alec Guinness. That was Obi Wan's first line in Episode IV. I am impressed that they managed to keep the continuity to Episode IV in a fairly believable manner. I didn't have much hope, given Disney's past treatment of Star Wars.
did you just say 'they managed to keep continuity?"
what a joke.
im pretty sure the hello there was just fanservice for the memes
@@Briansgate where is the discontinuity?
No, it's a callback to his version of ObiWan in episode 3 when he jumps down to confront Grievous and the droid army is surrounding him.
@@danielkeller1337 Which is itself a callback to Obi-Wan's first line in Episode IV. Ewan himself confirms it.
When Obi-Wan was buried beneath the rubble, he was at a point where his mind was focusing on what he believes as his failure - the things that kept him where he was as a broken man. But he started to focus on what recently gave him reasons to live, Luke and Leia, ultimately giving him the will to get out of the literal hole he was in. Really love how that was handled. Amazing finale with a lot of symbolism in there.
10:18 that’s the quickest turn of emotions i’ve ever seen lol
I love how when Vader is talking to Obi-Wan about how he didn't kill Anakin Skywalker, the blue aura of Kenobi's lightsaber is reflected on his face, showing that a little bit of Anakin is seeping through, but when Vader tells Obi-Wan that he will die, the aura off of Vader's crimson red lightning is seen across his face. Showing that the dark side has taken over
Two things:
16:56 in the Return Of The Jedi novelization from 1983, it was revealed that Owen and Ben actually were brothers and that remained canon until Lucas started the prequels in 1999.
This series has made one thing from A New Hope much more powerful. When Vader kills Ben, it is Leia’s Theme that plays. There was never really a reason for that before but now it is quite emotional.
Except… that wasn’t Leia’s theme. Do people fact check anything anymore?
@@davidmcleod5133 fact check? I’ve seen the movie THOUSANDS of times. A small bit of the Force Theme (originally titled Ben’s Theme) plays as Obi-Wan raises his lightsaber and then right after Vader strikes him down, a full on version of Leia’s Theme plays as look yells “No!” and everyone boards the Falcon.
@@davidmcleod5133 it actually was. If anything, it's you who did not fact check anything. The Force theme played before Vader struck Obi-Wan down, but immediately after, Leia's theme
That musical tidbit is absolutely incredible. That is pure star wars to me, inside and out.
I know that originally inside the movies the force theme was associated with Kenobi in episode 4, but then in episode 5 and 6 they reused the music to instead symbolise the force more generally than just Obi Wan. So that tells of how star wars always just built on itself and reinterpreted itself from the very beginning. Inside it's all consistent as it can be, outside we hodge podge.
This musical tidbit rings of it obviously not having much or any significance behind it back in 1977, but now the creators can take up the legacy and build within and on it. Taking what was probably not a particularly deeply considered choice and make it mean everything in the world.
@@pseudonymousbeing987 exactly! Now when I watch A New Hope, that music will mean so much more because it’s not just Ben’s death, it’s Leia seeing him again for the first time since she was a kid.
How lucky are we to live through a time to see Obi-Wan and Vader have a legit battle with all the emotion and power that they lacked in A New Hope purely because of the original circumstances.
So here is my thought on the battle, awesome, but more than that, in Empire we see Vader without his helmet for a split second, he had a scar of a gash but his wounds from the Mustafar battle would not have caused that gash, HOWEVER, the strike that Ben made in this battle could have done that....another question of mine answered.
Imagine if we lived in a world where they remade these movies every few years and got to experiance them with new actors and new effects but the same script and music. I guy can dream.
@Nick F. Will have to look again, but other theorists disagree with you. And say that it was obtained in this battle. But will look
@Nick F. I just looked back at OWK epi 3 where Vader is in the bacta tank, I did not see the scar there, Still have not gotten to ROTS
You should watch The Clone Wars. You will love it guarantied. You will see a lot more from old characters and even new characters you’ll love. As a whole you will love Star Wars even more after.
Has she not watched it yet? Dam she’s missing out on so much
Seconded
Thirded.
Make this a top comment so she see this
@@nicodemustomeo9156 Fourthed
There are two ways to read that line of Vader's. "I am not your failure." One is that Kenobi didn't fail by Vader coming into being. The other is that Vader was Anakin's failure.
Also... could it be possible that Vader sees Anakin as Obi Wan's failure - which is why he's dissociated from his better half?
They did well having such an impactful duel really added to the prequels even with knowing that years later Darth Vader does kill Obi Wan
Does he? Or is Obi Wan so powerful that he simply becomes one with the Force?
The sad irony is when Owen and Beru die, the Empire wasn’t even looking for Luke.
I cried when it shot back to Obi wan tearfully staring at the glimpse of Anakin's face😭
Both spectacular actors🙌🙌🙌
You need to watch The Clone Wars, so much character development between Anakin and Obi wan that makes these scenes hit so much harder, and Anakin's relationship with Ahsoka, just amazing. And watch Rebels with a bunch more amazing characters and stories. (And some pretty great cameos)
Yeah, i feel they pretty much copied the Ahsoka\Vader fight from Rebels here
@@tedbaker3846 it's all symbolism. Obi-wan broke the left side of Vaders mask and Ahsoka broke the right. Both had glimpses of Anakin but weren't able to turn him. Luke fully took the mask off and Anakin went back to the light
The "hello there" isn't just a reference to Episode 3 - that's also how Obi-Wan greets R2 in A New Hope when he saves Luke from the Tuskens.
This has been one of the best series ever made as a fan of the prequels I give a round of applause to Deborah Chow, Ewan Mcgregor, Hayden Christensen, and the rest of the cast for their amazing performance as our favorite characters. Plus I was happy to see Liam Neeson back as Qui Gon Jinn. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
eh, imo it has a few good scenes but overall it was disappointingly made. and disney still doesn't know how to make good lightsaber duels.
best series? is that a joke?
'blown away' by a cameo?
do you get excited when you find out water is wet?
Glad that Beru had more lines here than her one word of “Hello” in Attack Of The Clones.
When Obi is telling Leia about her parents there must have been something super interesting on Mary's ceiling.
After showing their relationship and bond in this series, when Leia says “Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.” in the first film, it gives it more weight, and when he sacrifices himself to Vader, one of the last things he sees is Luke and Leia together, and escaping.
Imo this show was about Obi regaining his spirit after the trauma of Episode 3, and his journey from shirking his duty and being depressed to becoming zen and accepting the will of the Living Force, leading to him finally being able to complete the task Yoda gave him of talking to Qui-Gon.
Viewers: man RUclips recommendations are being boring lately
Kenobi Clips: *Hello There!*
When you said Liam Neeson turn your face around right now! you had me dead laughing 😅🤣😂
I fully want to believe when he was yelling "OBI-WAAAN!" it was Akakin's last cry for help. I saw a comparison clip from Akakin yelling "Obi-Wan" the same exact way in the Clone Wars show
Fun Fact, Mary: Joel Edgerton plays Owen. His brother, Nash, was Obi-Wan’s stunt double during the prequels. At that time, Nash was dating Rose Byrne, who played Padme’s handmaiden Dorme in Episode II.
"Hello there"
HE SAID THE THING!
This was an amazing series. All the feels in this episode.
This episode of Obi-Wan is one of the best of any Star Wars ever.
You mean Old Ben as Luke described him "who's a crazy old hermit. who talks to himself"
That part got me too , when Obi-Wan is telling Anakin that He’s sorry
love when anakin voice modulator broke you could here anakin for almost all of it then when he says he killed anakin it changed fully to Vader's voice
Imagine watching your best friend turn into the most evil, twisted, corrupted version of themselves. My heart would break too.
9:10 Vader landed exactly how he did in fallen order when starkiller force pushed him through five walls
Seeing how emotionally damaged Obi was from what happened to Anakin was heartbreaking and the fact Anakin was more Vader than Anakin at this point made it more devastating
love your reaction to “ hello there” .. so wholesome
10 year-old Lea is one brave little girl!
People who cried during this episode are good people.
not many scenes could ever get me too tear up, they simply nailed this 👏
I know this is late but yes I felt your pain too during the end of the fight. I don't cry at much but this got me so much. Just knowing how much they've been through together as master and apprentice, as brothers. And what were they reduced to? Mortal enemies and Obi Wan feels guilty for everything that has happened
My favorite Star Wars series on Disney+. I always loved Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan.
That rematch went hard! The Obi Wan vs Darth Vader we needed! a great pace and hard hitting even that half Mask Anakin connection with Obi-Wan made me Cry 🥺
I loved those few surprises at the end too!
All round Amazing show! Easily one of my favorite Star Wars series.
That evil smirk when Vader says "I did....." Chills..
You're not the only one that cried during this 🥲
I loved your reaction Mary. So heartfelt and raw. I felt the same ❤
That scene where we see Anakin’s face revealed in the mask is my favorite scene in the whole series!! Such great imagery and so much emotion
I was the opposite emotionally towards the Vader and end Leia scene , I held everything I could in to not cry during the duel and I cried my eyes out when obi wan described padme and anakin
I saw Carrie Fisher in dear little Vivian's eyes in that scene. Those deep kind brown eyes. She's one of the best child actors I've ever seen.
It's what made me cry for the third time. The duel got me first, then Obi Wan telling Leia about her parents, and then the close up of her.
Palpatine: “so you had the high ground on Obi wan?! What did you do??”
Vader: “I THREW IT AT HIM!!”
Palpatine: “tf bro?!”
Alright one last thing: Obi Wans first words in the Star Wars movies is “Hello There”, in the prequels mid way through the movie he says it again to General Grievous, and then his last words we may ever hear him speak…are “Hello there” 🥹🥹🥹
I never thought I’d say I want more Owen and Beru….but those characters quickly become some of my favorites. Especially the “he is my own” and Beru laying into reva.
That rock throwing scene was awesome!
“It’s not about lifting rocks” said Luke from Last Jedi. Lol!
The duel at the end of the clone wars was the most emotional for me
I thought it was a remarkable series. It was pretty cool seeing everyone again....a nice flashback to the prequels, and to Clone Wars, and I think the writers were aware of established canon and were careful not to violate it.
I can't believe i found you just today, your reaction to Star Wars is amazing. ❤ The Force is strong with this one.
I think it would have been cool if Obi Wan took Reva as a padawan and finished her training. But then that probably would have made her a target for the inquisitors.
8:01 Yeah! Beru is like, “You hurt my family and I hurt you!”
It still is YODA. Disney fan fiction doesn't change a thing.
Lea is the choosen one :-) She was allways stronger.and my first love 1977. Interesting so see her in her childhood. I loved the Obiwan series--- It make me cry too to see you cry
I totally agreed with you Mary. Also love how this episode was so emotional. Makes it even more special and memorable.
5:30 Mary accidentally comes to the same conclusion as General Grevious, "You ARE a Bold one."
The lightsaber battle & the Vader damaged mask scene was brilliant, thanks for you reactions to Obi Wan Kenobi Mary
That duel was pretty epic and its was just cool that obi came to terms with the fact that his friend and brother is dead and he could move on from the guilt
fun fact that my boyfriend recently told me: in the comics, owen and obi are brothers! so maybe owen is the little baby that obi-wan remembers!
I don't have an Anakin Junior, but I do have a son named Michael Anakin. Does that work? 😂
17:42 He heard you...
It's funny how each "Episode VI" in a Star Wars series has major redemption arcs in it. I honestly doubt Disney planned that. 😁
I loved the symbolism when Anakin’s mask is shattered. Anakin’s face is lit be red, then blue, showing there is still good in him.
10:40 Star wars has always been big on showing symbolism through lighting, and this is no exception.
Obi wan is lit up in blue to show he's on the light side.
Vader is lit up in blue AND red to show that Anakin was still fighting to come out, but as he keeps speaking, it turns a full red to show Vader has once again taken over.
i loved the small reference to padme
No longer Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi, he's now Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Most intense and emotional finale, especially the battle between Vader and Obi Wan. Pararells between the exposed cracked helmet with Ahsoka and Obi Wan. Chills! Also we finally get Qui-Gonn!! Hoping for season 2!
It's so emotional Obi Wan Kenobi seeing Anakin Skywalker's face since ROTS and what he became
OK, show of hands. Who else wants to see Mary play Jedi fallen order after this? 🙋🏽🙋🏽🙋🏽
Vader is absolutely beautiful 🤩🤩🤩
Thanks!
Thank YOU
Obi is the GOAT..out of everything that happened between him and Anikan, he still finds it in him to say good things about him. Such an amazing Master. I was emotionally fine until he told Leia that at the end LOL got me right in the feels!
Loved this. And they are doing a season 2. Thought I read something a couple of weeks ago where they retooled some of the story elements to allow for a continuation as opposed to an ending. Personally would love to see Obi's experiences away from the Luke/Vader arena. Perhaps something with The Path. The characters he met this season calling on him to help.
With Season 2, Kathleen Kennedy is gone, and George Lucas is back
@@johnalang Ah, so you are one of those. Kennedy isn't going anywhere, and Lucas is DONE with Star Wars. He sold it. The deal is LONG over. Move on.
@@JD-be7ys The Core theme of the series is Letting Go.
I’d love to see cal kestis next season
I'm hoping Reva is included.
Your wholesome, genuine, fan tears give me Life! Mary 🥰
Andor is coming late August. The first season will have 12 episodes and a second season is on the way.
The third season of The Mandalorian will premiere in February, and a fourth season is also in development.
If reva was captured by the empire and turned into an Inquisitor from the torture chair than she really didn't have a choice other than dying she was forced into being an Inquisitor cause that was her only way to survive
I was expecting Vader to get his mask cut since he had a huge scar on his head in episode 6.
Vader: You didnt kill anakin... I did
he said it with a sadistic and confident frame
two things, one they did say season finale on Disney plus in reguards to Kenobe so I am holding out hope for another season. And two I am so glad they didnt have Vader say its over Master I have the high ground when he buried Obi-Wan lol
If you love and want more of Star Wars, I would recommend you watching the Clone Wars animated series. Loved and enjoyed that finale of Kenobi! The duel between Obi-Wan and Vader was emotional and epic.
7:22 "Omg is he just gonna burry him alive?!? Seriously? That's just cruel!"
Remember Obi-Wan could have put Anakin out of his misery but instead he left him to burn alive and alone XD
Why Vader said obi wan is because he doesn’t want to alone again
I liked how they tried sense of Obi-Wan calling Vader, Darth in ANH multiple times by having him do it here.
As Lucas developed his concept of the world and the Sith the name Darth became a title and now all sith lords are called Darth ....
But back when ANH was written it was just his first name. So it made sense for Obi-Wan to call him that.
Obi -Wan was originally made as a miniseries, but Disney has recently changed its classification to S1 Television series, indicating a 2nd Season as well as insiders dropping rumors of a 2nd season as well.
Watching Obi-Wan go beast mode in the second half of the duel was epic
Just wanted to point out that your fashion choice was super on point for this ☄️
Asokha got half his mask off, Obi-Wan got the other half off. Only one person was ultimately destined to remove the whole thing.
I love how you so your emotions. My eyes get wet every time watching that scene with Vader (Anakin) and Obi Wan..
For me the duel is on the same level as revenge of the sith, both behind the Maul/Kenobi duel from Rebels.
That one is really a masterpiece in intensity and subverting expectations.
The symbolism of both ahsoka and obi wan managing to see anakin through Vader, but not bringing him back (only cutting his masks eye). But Luke bringing him back fully by removing his helmet fully
16:56: Actually, in the novelization of Star Wars in 1976, Owen *was* Ben’s brother.
Just finished watching Kenobi. OMG. Excuse me while I wipe my tears off the floor. So many emotions. 😭
Obi Wan tapped into some cheat codes with those memories LOL
