@Collin Patterson same for me and my violin. I do not "warm up". If i try and pretend to "warm up" i end up playing worse.
@Collin Patterson i mean you dont have to “warm up” as in doing all ur scales and arpeggios, but its always good to start slowly/play lightly at first because your fingers have muscles and u dont want to strain them by immediately playing full tempo. think of it as any sport, just with your fingers
Meh, it was pretty amateurish... I'm not impressed.

@@selenacordeiro1458 it literally isn't that complicated. Just climbing the scales for 1/2 the song and wiggling the left hand and right hand in the 2 middle segments.
Second piece - Rachmaninoff Prelude in C Sharp minor. My father was a concert pianist, played it, and taught it to me. Love hearing it. A great and emotional piece.
Absolutely love Rachmaninoff and this piece is one of my favorites. Kids got class picking this as the 2nd piece to play!
Thnx I was wondering what it was called, reminds me of the song on Exorcism of Emily Rose I'm pretty sure this is the one
Do you know the story behind the piece? Apparently it's from a dream Rachmaninoff had where he was in a funeral home, levitating, being pushed to the front through no control of his own, and hearing this piece all the while. As it climaxes, he's reaching the casket, to find that he's staring at himself, dead. Metal af.

Absolutely 💯 percent correct.
That's bad parenting, his father is boosting his ego and forcing him to play in public when the kid clearly needs a lot more practice before playing a public piano... It sounded pretty amateurish.
To be quite honest, if I was there I would make a scene and leave restaurant, and give it 1 star review on yelp. Waiter needed to stop that for the sake of other customers instead of just mocking him and laughing in his face

for a 15 year old guy he is playing one of the hardest piano pieces and hes playing it verry well. Well played my man.
Very hard yes, one of the hardest? Not even close. If we only count relatively well known pieces it still wouldn’t make the top thousand probably
Matthew Hammans maybe not even near to other piano by skills hardness, but the Beethoven interpretation is one of the hardest in my personal opinion.(in my opinion he is very good at skills, but has a lot to learn in the interpretation, but for his age he is awesome)
Matthew Hammans you don’t know what you’re talking about lol some of those chords played at the right tempo make the third movement one of the hardest pieces ever - I bet you don’t even play piano
Chris G If you're comparing to ALL pieces ever, it's really not close whatsoever. In comparison to pieces more well known to the average public, it's up there, but even something like fantasie impromptu is definitely harder. Outside of that, most Liszt and Rach pieces are much harder, and then there's, Ravel, some Chopin, Brahms, Scarlatti, Scriabin, and plenty more. It was a great performance, but absolutely no where near the hardest.
Chris G I didn't see he played the Rach prelude, but what I said still correlates

Most rich people have a piano in their livingroom, but they don't know how to play it, but this kid.

This is real and has my approval and I call bullshit all the time. Thank you for playing that piano, my dude
A way underrated detail is that he’s doing this all on an upright. Many of the pieces he was playing were meant to be played on a grand piano which has a quicker action. It takes talent to do this on an upright.
Edit: to clear up any confusion. An upright may have a lighter action but a grand has a quicker action and notes can be pressed much faster on a grand than an upright because of gravity assisting the hammers.
Edit 2: sources- I tune pianos and teach piano for a living
I never knew there was such a difference, the more you know
We had a Steinway grand upright where the middle pedal moved the action of the hammers closer to the strings. This allowed me to play faster. The only downside was that it felt different, and you lost the volume of the full swing of the hammers. You could use that pedal to play faster, or softer, or both. Great performance, regardless.
I think it’s a bit easier on a upright, especially one with lighter keys
More over, his devotion to playing these from memory is pure passion.
My grandma also pointed out that upright feels more uptight to play haha

How good he is at this age is just unbelievable, and the performance out of nothing is just amazing, pure talent, I wish I could one day be in a bar and listen to someone playing like that, incredible, no words...
Wow! What a fantastic performance! This young man is so talented.
I'm only jealous of one thing in this world. People with musical ability. I can't carry a tune to save my life but am a lifelong lover of most all music
@@LightriverArt I wish I tried like 3 years of trying to learn instruments . Used to be in choir and actually good but after I hit puberty can't sing the melody without being way off key and bad. Some people have natural sport talent but no matter how hard you work there will always be someone that has real natural talent that if encouraged can give us some beautiful moments.
You can do it.
@@johngaspardo4094 There's no natural talent. Just a natural joy. Famous runners love running, therefore they're amazing at it. They also practice really hard. Famous painters couldn't paint to save their life for ages yet they loved painting. Famous writers have tens of books you'll never see which were god awful yet they loved writing so they kept going. It's the same with music. It needs years of practice and dedication yet if you enjoy it you can of course make it. Just don't judge yourself too harshly and don't tell yourself you can't do it because that'll be a lie you regret to the end of your life.
Anybody could play this on the piano with tons of practice. Talent helps ofc but it’s not decisive when it comes to instruments.
@@toggo8611 nice statement.
see you in another 8 years when this is in everyone’s recommended
He earned it .

bro i was here and am here 1 year later, i come from the future-
Lol
Homie is amazing at piano. If you can play something that makes people listen and stop what they are doing, then you are doing something right
bro i know exactly the feeling of doing this i always wish there were public pianos nearby
Guy: I'm kinda nervous.
Guy in 15 seconds: *hands go brrrrrrrr*
lmaoo
This comment wins
The nerves dissapear when he enters his flow.
If I could play like that, I would play every piano I see.
Except to master a song like that you will spend hundreds of hours, so at that point you only do it on occasion or because other people want you to
@@keiganogrady7481 You have to truly love piano if you practice that much. Unless you are being forced to practice.
@@MrC77 im learning nuvole bianche and interstellar now.. while I was very motivated to learn them at first, now it's just something I do if I'm bored or am feeling anxious (noise cancelling headphones and piano is kinda great for that)
I can play harder pieces but never seen a public piano
@@yishai8466 me neither, but from what I've seen online they seem to usually be at airports or subways
I got the feeling this waiter really appreciated the beautiful rendition and brought him the cocktail on his own.
As a 34 year old man, I can definitely say this with a fact. I can play 11 Cello solos from start to end till this day with no paper. What you teach kids from 6-18 (music wise) they will always remember, even if they think they forgot or you forgot, go buy your old instrument it will all come back. Good job on the piano
Trust me. People will always want to hear a piano being played this well anywhere in the world.
If pianos aren’t played they die 😒😒😟😔☹️
Like the digital keyboard sitting in my room begging for a touch every morning. 🥺🥺🥺🥺
@@KwakuAddoDanquah Same Bruh, Mines Absorbing Dusts Now.. Lol
@@vysaksasikumar3535 I was here to say the same thing 😂
And with that, that piano could die. It's life fulfilled.
My piano is 110 years old

I travel all the time within the Uk, very boring all the time. If this happened while I was having a pint a scrolling on my phone in the airport I would be so delighted! Such talent, it almost makes me cry.
OMG!!! This guy is FANTASTIC!!! what a nice surprise for everyone that was sitting there young man you are Very Talented 🎹🎼
Truly a Blessing Much Love E.
I may have said this before, but can we give some credit to Dad?! This kid was terrified, could barely drink his water. Dad busts out some awesome dad knowledge. "They're bored, they'll love free entertainment." Compiled with the "he's never gonna stop nagging me", magic was made.
The waiter leaving a drink for him was one of the classiest things I've ever seen tbh
Now that’s a compliment 😂
I love how he’s shy to do it then immediately sits down and crushes it.
I see vids like this and imagine the composers in heaven delighted with pure joy that their gift is still being shared 🥰
_If Beethoven was alive he surely never would’ve seen it coming_
He wouldn’t hear it ether lol
@@esmezaric1129 Help i can't stop laughing 😂
Lol he would of saw it, just not heard it.
