Some interesting facts about Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor: in addition to being a musician, he has appeared in a few movies, including one with Robert Englund, aka Freddy Krueger. He has written 4 books, some of which were New York Times bestsellers. He also founded in 2022 "The Taylor Foundation". to help veterans who have suffered from PTSD.

🎉Baby’s first headbang!🎉 13:03 it’s great seeing him do the hip hop bop and transition into headbanging, it’s like it’s an instinctual thing. Also the lyrics definitely mean something to the writer but I’m pretty sure they want you to interpret them for yourself anyways. I’m not sure if I’m remembering that correctly, it was from one of many interviews I’ve watched. Also I know people have said it already but check out Bother By stone sour. It’s Corey’s other band, you also can see his face if you’re curious.

Fun fact, during the scream of "The limits of the dead." That has so much power behind it, vocally, because it is a triple layer of him and 2 backup singers. Also the first time they do that part, their is what can be best described as a creepy siren, playing fully on the right side. (Its hard to hear unless you have good headphones) It adds some extra depth to that part, even for those whose headphones aren't good enough to actually discern it.

For the next song, I'd reccomed 'Before I Forget'. Its typically one I suggest to newer listeners and of course its amazing.
For a bit of a history to the music video, the members of the band are without their masks, however their faces are just off camera. No one knew what they looked like at the time, so people were freaking out when the video was released and trying to piece their faces together from the limited clips we were given.
You should also check out 'Dead Memories', also if you are feeling particularly daring and are starting to listen to some of the heavier stuff, 'The Devil in I' would make for a great reaction video.
Keep up the reactions man, the metal commuity always welcomes new fans!

Just finding this chanel the reactions as someone that has been listening to this music since high school in the early 2000s I love to see new people get to see how amazing this music can be. The technical skills they use to sustain the vocal fry (the growling sound) without blowing their vocal cords and causing perminate damage is insane. A lot of the lead singers for these bands have a lot of classical vocal training. A lot of these guys since they have been doing this for 20 plus years can still do it at their current age. I know Cory is about 50 now and that's just down right impressive. Happy to have a new memeber of the metal/rock community its never too late to start enjoying new kinds of music.

    Psychosocial (adjective):
of or relating to the interaction between social and psychological factors.
Your interpretation of us all being aware of societal problems, yet silently going along with it and refusing to be the martyr (because it's futile) is a perfectly apt take on this song.
Art is subjective. Although they had a meaning in mind when writing it, it is intended that you will take your own meaning from it. It's written in a way that allows some interpretation.
Anyone who tries to take away the subjectiveness of art is completely missing the point of creating it in the first place.

Watched a few vids and i gotta say i love your reactions to metal songs. Its great that you take attention to the lyrics.
Id suggest 2 bands. Rammstein is german but the lyrics are pretty nice. You can find good translations on yt, educatedmarine has quite a few and some custom videos as well. Deutschland is a good starter i would say.
Another band is Lorna shore, its deathcore so its heavy, but lyrics are interesting as well. Their song "to the hellfire" is a banger.
Cant wait to see this reaction tho, keep it up!

For you 3rd song, I highly recommend "spit it out"
    A- for the earlier sound
B- for a rapper take on the lyrical aspect.
It's the final nail in the coffin to make you a true magot hahaha

Would love to see your reaction to some of the heavier stuff like Slaughter to Prevail - Viking or Brand of Sacrifice - Lifeblood. Might be jarring at first, but I love that genre of music and listen to it every day.

Its too soon. He must be more aquinted with growls. It is so easy to turn people away from deathcore. I'm glad he pulls lyrics since especially Lorna lyrics are very complex

I missed a lot of this group because their masks scared me, but once you listen to them they have very good material. I'm still learning about them.

You gotta react to their 1st and 2nd album if you think that’s heavy lol. Their 1st album has a LOT of rap (“Only One” is a great example) and their 2nd album has a lot of Death Metal elements (“The Heretic Anthem” being the best example), so you really should try that out. But first, as you said, I would recommend searching their history, who they are and their masks, so you don’t get confused lmao.

Dimebag Darrell (rip) from pantera was the absolute master of the pinch harmonic when you get to pantera which I'm sure you will eventually you'll see what I mean.
Slipknot change or alter their masks pretty much every time they release an album Cory in particular drastically changes masks

The last time I saw them live, they had to postpone the show so Corey could have neck surgery. He broke his neck and didn’t realize it. That’s him singing as well, he sang in Stone Sour btw. There’s also vids of him doing quick appearances and singing too

Second the Corey Taylor live Snuff, that is just amazing. Also Unsainted is great. If anyone wants to look into Coreys books I found the audio versions read by Corey just work better and enjoyable.
