another thing i want to add on is deckbuilding is so stupid, you make a unique deck that wins like 3 games and you feel good, only to get destroyed to someone running cynoverload or stall. Its also stupidly hard to play casually because nowadays if you want to win you have to magic 18 dice or do 46 damage by round two.
True, you can't just play anything you want. I've played Pokemon Showdown pretty seriously before and you can still include almost any Pokemon you want, even if they're really bad (but maybe not more than one in a team) and they can still be really useful for setting up or doing weird gimmicks. In GITCG... no. No such thing.
Honestly, I kinda stopped playing tcg since stall decks became more prominent when match-making. It kinda felt boring and like frustrating just playing against them with my goofy electro childe deck and the new cards became just too op and hard to understand for me. Eventually, i just quit tcg. I do feel that not being able to use the characters you like in GITCG really strips you of any individuality and is pretty demotivating; I should've mentioned this in the video too. The game is just a matter of who can play existing meta decks better.

I've played other Hoyo games but I don't play them regularly; I think Genshin's the only one for me if I wanna upload :p
This is very understandable, I considered quitting last patch as well cuz playing keqing whale mirror every match just took way too long for me and it's also just super boring to play the same thing over and over, my main issue with tcg is the way they design it encourages only one or two main strategies and if you play anything else you just lose, and then they nerf that strategy only to replace it with another dominant strategy the next patch... It's unfortunate but I hope you continue to make regular genshin videos and other stuff :)

Every single patch, the game releases new mechanic to be super meta. I always challenge myself trying to beat them with other decks, but most of the time it didn't work... Also, i totally agree about stall decks. It took too long to finish just one game (especially Barbara stall😭). Whenever I matched with them, I wanna concede right there. That hydro cleanse, +2 Tenacity shield and +4 healing makes the game at least 10 round to finish and I ain't got time for that. ps. As for other games, I do enjoy Honkai : Star Rail too! I hope to support you in other type of content also, thank you!

Thank you very much for all the tcg clip. I love your commentary very much. It is sad to know that you will not continue, but i understand your every reason. Sometimes i found the game not fun too when facing the player who think too long or getting my bad rng.
Its sad to hear that your quiting but your reasoning makes sense, TCG has gone from "what can i do with the cards i have" to "how can i draw/topdeck the cards i want/need", Anyway looking forward to you getting back to back aces in valorant
I've been playing pve only since the discard meta. When I tried to give pvp a chance it was either against a stall deck or someone going afk to waste your time in hope that you give up. Every patch releases a new game breaking mechanic that makes you face the same deck over and over again, I don't blame you one bit. It was fun to see you collab with justapal tho, maybe you could do some videos together about regular genshin :)
Well it is understandable considering what cards these days can do and how they can synergize with each other in a thousand different ways, but it doesn't change the fact that it makes games take longer and thus more boring for me :/
I started really watching TCG content because of you and didn't really have any card game knowledge (Go Fish does NOT count) so I learned from your videos how to navigate the cards and plan decks and also how to manage dice better because you always explained what you were doing and why. Thank you so so much for all the work you've put in making videos to share, they've really helped me out a lot and plenty of others too. And I agree with a lot of other commenters that since you can't really play whatever you wanna outside of the meta and expect to succeed with skill alone (unless you're playing at high levels which... most of us are not i think lol) then it gets boring and/or frustrating, and I've definitely been playing it less because of that, so I totally get the shift away from TCG. I think you're very funny and that humor of yours would translate really well to regular Genshin and also to Valorant, and I'll watch content regardless of what you choose to go with just for that! Thank you for your TCG content until now!! And as a Kaveh main, I thank you for your service in providing Kaveh TCG content 🫡
It's nice to see You join the dark side, my friend. I officially declare You dismissed from TCG. We both know that when it comes to games between us, I always had the upper hand and You never had a chance of beating me anyway. So run ahead with a clear and empty mind, free from TCG, and don't look back as it's now it's time to begin your journey anew. Here's to hoping that you take the _Impact_ from Genshin Impact and manage to place it somewhere else, or recycle it back into Genshin. Either one is fine really. Make sure to not fall into irrelevence either. And if you're ever in the mood, I'll always be down for another game or two. 😉
I would like to express my gratitude to you for giving me a chance in the games that we played together. Perhaps you lost track of how much you held back because I seem to have won most of the time. Anyway, thanks for the wishes and I'll do my best to put that Impact into something new. Also, I might just hit you up for an obscure game some day.
TCG is pretty much like every game you play : you discover, you play, you get better, you feel confident and talented, and then there's this part where you discover META and get bored of always the same looking decks. I only play because It's a good occupatiion when you don't have anything to do, I agree. Goodbye in the world of TCG 👋
I think it was around the time they added the melusine card where you can generate random cards was the beginning of the end. I did love the random RNG from that, but it really incentivized decks to cater to specific build types and if you were not playing it, you were losing to someone who was using it. Then Fontaine healing cards just made games way too long and frustrating as well as units like Layla that can passively apply cryo even after they fall which made freeze decks that had healing super annoying. Eventually when whale and bloom came out, it’s all I saw for like that whole patch and nothing was as consistent at winning so it became a can’t beat them join them. I haven’t really played actively since but I haven’t really played tcg in general because I have a job and I can barely play the 15 minutes on my work days let alone catch up on my off days. I appreciate the tcg videos just because no one really covered it, but I do respect the decision. Hopefully will get more content from you in general or if a future tcg patch fixes some of these problems we can see a return.
As for games I think you could play, I play a mobile game (but you can play on PC too) called super auto pets. What I like about it is that your turns can be as long as you want them to be and you can always put it down, but when you’re matching against other players you instantly match and get a result. You play for as many rounds as it takes to get 10 wins or you lose after 5 losses. You start off with weak units that are random and you basically buff them up as the game progresses. There are multiple strategies to win and you’re always matched with a different opponent each hand and you do not know what their strategy will be. I think it’s more-so a casual game than a try-hard because there is a lot of rng with the random match making. The reward for winning is completely cosmetic just different hats, backgrounds and characters you can equip. I think the fun behind this game is you can try strategies like all of the same animal for one team or aiming for specific team builds to win 10. I play the f2p version, but there are member packs that have very dynamic pets to try and there’s a weekly version that rotates every week and is f2p as well.
Oh not the Melusine cards, that was actually just the purest form of RNG-to-win Searched up Super Auto Pets and it looks pretty interesting, but I feel like I'd rather go for Pokemon since I'm more familiar with that :p
i havent even touched tcg since 4.7 .. it just got too boring + annoying.. soo many cards, too much skills and all.. and i feel exactly the same way as u do! And as for content, we would love to see u play regular genshin too! :D ❤
i understand because ig i just got burned out after playing hours of tcg a few months back. its literally just how to make the best deck and theres no fun in using the deck u enjoy cus ur just gonna get destroyed by whatever new thing is out (havent played in a while baha) your channel was my fav for a while tho... sigh
For me, personally, it's the reverse. I don't find playing normal genshin fun but the tcg is what keeps me coming back every patch to see what new cards/ mechanics they've added every update. I can see why you're quitting as the 4.8 and 5.0 metas are shaping up to be pretty stale as there's like 3 decks going around right now, being kazuha, xianyun, and crab. A few of my pain points for tcg are the balance changes geared leaning so heavily into one playstyle where you just stall until you get a round where you can overwhelm your opponent with dice, and having your decks be tailored into drawing those dice generators asap with countdown t1 and gilded shenanigans. It's like every deck is an abuser of magic engine, or something built around pyro res because that's the only thing that forces magic to not ramp 8 turn 1. I think the best time for gitcg was 4.7, Where pretty much all the broken stuff was at its height. Pre nerf Kaveh, YJ, Whale, Treasure, the whole shabang. It allowed for so many decks that you could play to reasonable success bc of the pure strength of the characters themselves and not the cards you paired with them. Kaveh specifically allowed for a completely different way of deckbuilding that we've never seen before, and it was pretty fun having a deck that's just raw dmg output. Furthermore, furina wriothesley treasure decks actually let you contend with some of the better meta decks by using treasure as a catalyst to avoid key breakpoints vs sayu wgs and match the sheer dice output of conwhale. I think treasure, while before 4.8, was a problematic card and was pretty annoying to play against, was one of the, comparatively speaking, healthier cards for the meta. But then... it and many other cards got gutted in the 4.8 patch (some deservedly so) which just meant that if your deck relied in any way shape or form on treasure, that deck is now dead, so the meta instantly just reverts back to all the decks that were good pre 4.8... which is magic and pyro res.... What changes to tcg do you think would make it more fun? I think for me if we had a larger deck size, and maybe reworking card draw to be less cards drawn overall, but more choice in the card you draw (Ex: using countdown now draws 1-2 cards of your choosing instead of 4 off of topdeck, using timaeus lets you draw an artifact you want instead of it being random) Love to hear your thoughts!
At this point I think they're too far gone to make changes to fix the game without just remaking everything, because I think the biggest villain here is card draw. There's just too much card draw in GITCG; all the RNG involved, the do-everything-on-Round 3 playstyle, magic and long thinking times all exist because you can draw like there's no tomorrow in GITCG. During GITCG's early days, it had a reasonable amount of card draw available, but now you can pretty much make a whole deck of draw cards (many of which have other uses as well, like Gilded Dreams). So I would say to remove a ton of draw cards, but they can't exactly do that now, can they? Edit: With the current amount of draw cards, it feels like the game is 80% about action cards and only 20% about the characters - when I feel that it should be close to 50-50.
I still like the game personally (maybe I like being in pain mentally or something like that💀) but your reasons for quitting are very much understandable The wait time is indeed a problem especially in NA & EU I think. 5 minutes wait time is still not that bad compared to the wait time in NA & EU during odd hours. In NA I have reached 59 minutes 59 seconds not just once but twice💀💀 and that's how I found out apparently it resets back to 0:00 And the Ayaka boss solo is nice haha
What do you do while waiting 1 hour in queue 💀💀 I usually give up after 8 minutes or so, so I never knew it reset back to 0:00 after an hour I hope you continue to enjoy the game and good luck for any tournaments you join :D
Hi Zen :D (this is my first time commenting on a video feels weird but anyway) I just wanted to express my joy whenever i watch your tcg videos, they make my day 10x better. You are the reason why i started playing tcg and i agree that tcg definitely has become more boring now that everyones just not using skills to fight for the win and just spamming keqing whale cyno overload blah blah. Its not competitive and not fun anymore :( but yeah I definitely look forward to the content you will post in the future! All the best, Zen!!
Demn too bad man. They make more complicated mechanic, but destroying the balance altogether with it. At this point, they should've made major adjustment to all pre-Fontaine cards (esp character cards) to keep up with todays character output and synergy. But maybe theyre too lazy to do that 😂. I also almost quit TCG, like today I only play weekly PvE for the coins and play PvP only when they have draft mode Heated Battle. Pre-Fontaine TCG is still the only good era of GITCG.
It’s understandable, one day you’ll just get a burnout from even the most fun games. I only play TCG maybe once or twice a week so it’s still extremely fun for me, but playing it every day would become boring for me easily too. The reason I followed you was not only TCG but also your personality, so I think I’ll stay subscribed and I’m looking forward to your future videos! Genshin videos are always awesome, but it would ofc also be entertaining to see you suffer in Valorant xD It would also be very interesting to see you maybe try out new games! Strinova is an upcoming gacha game just like Valorant but with anime girls and a pretty cool new technique where you can transform into paper to dodge attacks and fly in the air! Since you like Valorant you could maybe like this one too :D So yeah, I wish you good luck and lots of fun with your future videos :)
Thanks for the wishes :D I hope you'll continue to enjoy GITCG in my place. I'll do my best to make sure that my future videos will be on par with your standards
I’ve also considered quitting tcg since every mechanic is always powercrept by newer ones. A deck I used and won many games with in 4.8 is now completely useless in 5.0. Also, there are way too many mechanics now and I can’t be bothered to learn them all.
I've been playing Genshin TCG since release, I find TCG was genuinely more fun at the time since the whole game was pretty simple & easy to understand. The main reason I played TCG was to collect dynamic skins for the characters at first. After playing TCG for such a long time, it just felt like a massive waste of time tbh. TCG never felt rewarding to play & on top of that some players in rmm are just so toxic with their time wasting antics, instead of playing card game it quickly become time wasting competition (yes I just time stall them back lol).
that's right, time stall them back!! but yea I did enjoy the game more back then too :/ and I wish they had more rewards for us or some kind of incentive at the very least
I understand that, I got into tcg to play with my friends and I loved to watch your card game videos. Even though I stopped playing, it was always fun to watch you play. I’m excited to see you play other games and maybe some other strategy games you upload to the channel 😯 thank you for sharing all your tcg matches and commentary🩷
I'm personally a stall enjoyer specifically because i feel like it's the playstyle that relies the most on skill, whenever i play aggro I feel like the game is solely dictated by how i roll my dice and if i roll pyro res. But then since the jeht meta stall has never recovered fully and the game has kept relying on more and more on the rng.... which sucks if i'm being honest, your deck's power relies so heavily on action cards instead of the characters you pick that all the decks i go against feel the same... Its always the most busted cards of the patch before it gets nerfed, making the whole strategy you learned useless in a few weeks....... I also feel like hoyo has put too much focus on implemeting new gimmicks that it's hard to keep up and older characters feel abandoned... I miss the use three dice deal three dmg skills man., i just want to play the characters i like the most without feeling like im being punished for not using deck of the patch(tm).
I mentioned this in a reply to another comment as well, but it's very true that you can't use the characters you like in GITCG at all - you have to use some already existing meta deck to even stand a chance (or come up with the next big meta deck but yea that's prb not happening), which removes any sense of individuality players have :/
AWW NOOOO but nah me personally i loved ur zenless zone video even tho i dont play it. apart from genshin i also think valorant vids sound like a funny idea. if u play overwatch thatll be nice to see too :3
other than that tho I totally get what u mean. I really do think they need to shorten the time you get to make an action and also revamp a lot of the cards we have tbh
I didn't upload another ZZZ video because my laptop actually struggles to record it smoothly T-T but it's doable for Genshin and Valorant, so I guess I could try uploading those :p
I find pve to be fun to do from time to time because it's like puzzle solving pvp isn't fun tho same way yu gi oh isn't fun for me anymore people will just use the most meta tactics and it become people using the same decks over and over again until the next meta characters arrive
Very understandable bc I also quitted tcg myself during Fontaine, I just felt like it’s too “meta dominant”, if u get a slightly worse rng u can almost never win against meta decks like MEW or stall decks w high dmg output like Nilou bloom (idk abt now). If u wanna win for most of the time you are basically forced to use a more meta deck as well, if u use ur own creative decks that are not meta, u are prepared to face a lot of losses Btw no offense, when you said the playerbase is dwindling, such as looking at the views on YT, did u mean the whole game in general? Or just tcg channels views? Bc imo, tcg channels are indeed losing views bc ig more ppl lost interest in tcg, but for the whole game in general it still holds a lot of attention
I think the game in general is slowly dying too cuz I always face the same people over and over when I queue (and it takes several minutes). Matchmaking in Arena of Champions is a lot easier, but sometimes during off-peak hours I can even struggle to find a match there
@@ofcitszen true the tcg aspect of the game is dying, but the non-tcg aspect of the game is still doing well (in my understanding) and I believe even if u dont play tcg, u can still make content of the normal gameplay :) just a suggestion

What I realy like in genshin (in addition to TCG) is spiral abyss. I think I would love to see you doing abyss run. But maybe you don't like it and you don't want to upload this on your youtube channel, wich I can understand
I do consistently 36-star abyss, but I don't upload it because I don't think there's much for viewers to learn from my gameplay - and it's not really enjoyable to watch either - because I just turn on 25000 DPI on my mouse and spin with C1 Neuvillette to win :D
If you play pokemon showdown, why not upload it? It's not that popular either but if you're already playing it you might as well. But if you don't mind pve games I think project moon games would be fantastic for games that require thinking.
Pokemon Showdown is in fact one of my top candidates for things to upload. As you said, I suppose I might as well. Also, I've watched my friends play Project Moon games (Library of Ruina) before and they look pretty good. Thanks for the suggestion :D

@@ofcitszen I WOJLDNT DO THAT LMAOO ur hella funny i love ur vids
Its sad to hear that your quiting but your reasoning makes sense, TCG has gone from "what can i do with the cards i have" to "how can i draw/topdeck the cards i want/need", Anyway looking forward to you getting back to back aces in valorant
back to back aces? back to back 1-kill rounds is already hard enough
Sounds like a good idea for the future :p
I don't get why people need so long to think.
Np gamer o7 glad to have been of service
Oh not the Melusine cards, that was actually just the purest form of RNG-to-win
Searched up Super Auto Pets and it looks pretty interesting, but I feel like I'd rather go for Pokemon since I'm more familiar with that :p
@@ofcitszen All good, looking forward to future content!
i havent even touched tcg since 4.7 .. it just got too boring + annoying.. soo many cards, too much skills and all.. and i feel exactly the same way as u do! And as for content, we would love to see u play regular genshin too! :D ❤
Regular genshin sounds good to me too
Wuthering Waves is a game that could use some guides if you're interested in it
I briefly played WuWa but stopped since I preferred Genshin as my Open-world RPG of choice :p I'd be incredibly far behind, so perhaps not
Nooooo another good tcg RUclipsr is gone. :c I’ll miss watching your vids
Make asmr. Your voice is really soothing
you're telling me all I had to do this whole time was whisper into the mic? work smarter not harder I guess
i understand because ig i just got burned out after playing hours of tcg a few months back. its literally just how to make the best deck and theres no fun in using the deck u enjoy cus ur just gonna get destroyed by whatever new thing is out (havent played in a while baha) your channel was my fav for a while tho...
I think for me if we had a larger deck size, and maybe reworking card draw to be less cards drawn overall, but more choice in the card you draw (Ex: using countdown now draws 1-2 cards of your choosing instead of 4 off of topdeck, using timaeus lets you draw an artifact you want instead of it being random)
Love to hear your thoughts!
You were so interesting to watch 😢 thank you for the TCG content😊 I'd love to watch some Valo gameplay I'm bad myself😂
Maybe I'll upload a video or two on it but I'm not going to make everyone wrinkle their foreheads in disgust watching my aim all the time xD
@@ofcitszen whatever you enjoy now man🙏
I still like the game personally (maybe I like being in pain mentally or something like that💀) but your reasons for quitting are very much understandable
The wait time is indeed a problem especially in NA & EU I think. 5 minutes wait time is still not that bad compared to the wait time in NA & EU during odd hours. In NA I have reached 59 minutes 59 seconds not just once but twice💀💀 and that's how I found out apparently it resets back to 0:00
And the Ayaka boss solo is nice haha
What do you do while waiting 1 hour in queue 💀💀 I usually give up after 8 minutes or so, so I never knew it reset back to 0:00 after an hour
I hope you continue to enjoy the game and good luck for any tournaments you join :D
@@ofcitszen Oh I usually just browse internet (in phone I use double window thingy💀) and also thank you for your kind words🙏
Thanks gamer, and I'm honoured to have your first comment on my video :p
Nooo :( you’ll be missed
Demn too bad man.
They make more complicated mechanic, but destroying the balance altogether with it. At this point, they should've made major adjustment to all pre-Fontaine cards (esp character cards) to keep up with todays character output and synergy. But maybe theyre too lazy to do that 😂.
I also almost quit TCG, like today I only play weekly PvE for the coins and play PvP only when they have draft mode Heated Battle. Pre-Fontaine TCG is still the only good era of GITCG.
I miss being excited to play tcg. Your content was really good though, it's a shame
Since you like Valorant you could maybe like this one too :D
So yeah, I wish you good luck and lots of fun with your future videos :)
Thanks for the wishes :D I hope you'll continue to enjoy GITCG in my place. I'll do my best to make sure that my future videos will be on par with your standards
@@ofcitszen you’re welcome and thank you :D But please don’t overwork yourself!
I’ve also considered quitting tcg since every mechanic is always powercrept by newer ones. A deck I used and won many games with in 4.8 is now completely useless in 5.0. Also, there are way too many mechanics now and I can’t be bothered to learn them all.
You know, sometimes I wonder how hard it is for new players to learn everything that there is now
I've been playing Genshin TCG since release, I find TCG was genuinely more fun at the time since the whole game was pretty simple & easy to understand.
No problem gamer, I'll work on my commentary more so that hopefully it'll be interesting enough to keep you hooked even if I upload other games :p
@@ofcitszen whatever you have in the future I'll be sure to watch 🙏🗣
I find pve to be fun to do from time to time because it's like puzzle solving pvp isn't fun tho same way yu gi oh isn't fun for me anymore people will just use the most meta tactics and it become people using the same decks over and over again until the next meta characters arrive
Very understandable bc I also quitted tcg myself during Fontaine, I just felt like it’s too “meta dominant”, if u get a slightly worse rng u can almost never win against meta decks like MEW or stall decks w high dmg output like Nilou bloom (idk abt now). If u wanna win for most of the time you are basically forced to use a more meta deck as well, if u use ur own creative decks that are not meta, u are prepared to face a lot of losses
Btw no offense, when you said the playerbase is dwindling, such as looking at the views on YT, did u mean the whole game in general?
This makes sense it seems like everyone quitting Genshin but wow I loved your voiceovers
Everyone who quit seem to be feeling (roughly) the same things about GITCG :/ I'll carry on the same voiceovers (and do my best to improve on it too) for my future uploads, so I hope my videos will still be interesting for you :D
not genshin lol, zen said it's tcg. but otherwise, yeah i agree with zen here. i also quit GITCG long ago because it doesn't feel as fun anymore
6:29 i will literally watch you play anything man🫡
but personally, i wanna watch you play what i consider the two extremes of games: elden ring and stardew valley
I'll do my best to keep my commentary fresh and interesting for you o7 My poor little laptop can't record Elden Ring smoothly for sure just looking at the spec requirements, but Stardew Valley could be interesting :p
@@ofcitszen haha no need to be pressured to keep things fresh. very excited for the next chapter of ofcitszen content!
Any thoughts on moving to other tcg games like YGO: MD, MTG, or others?
probably not, I've watched but never been interested in those in the first place. But who knows what future me will think
I like Genshin TGC, but sad to say is a mode with out any incentive to be played , no real rewards and no ranking to have a reason to improve, this mode gives you no objectives o reasons to play at all.
I mean there are tournaments, but I guess that's not enough :/
Why is everyone suddenly quitting TCG??? Did I miss a chapter??
What I realy like in genshin (in addition to TCG) is spiral abyss. I think I would love to see you doing abyss run. But maybe you don't like it and you don't want to upload this on your youtube channel, wich I can understand
I do consistently 36-star abyss, but I don't upload it because I don't think there's much for viewers to learn from my gameplay - and it's not really enjoyable to watch either - because I just turn on 25000 DPI on my mouse and spin with C1 Neuvillette to win :D
TCG now = Who is the best meta spammer
If you play pokemon showdown, why not upload it? It's not that popular either but if you're already playing it you might as well. But if you don't mind pve games I think project moon games would be fantastic for games that require thinking.
Pokemon Showdown is in fact one of my top candidates for things to upload. As you said, I suppose I might as well. Also, I've watched my friends play Project Moon games (Library of Ruina) before and they look pretty good. Thanks for the suggestion :D
