- To celebrate Sonics upcoming 25th anniversary I have complied every official level in the sonic franchise in this short video, essentially giving you every single sonic level ever in just over 6 minutes, but what constitutes a 'level' exactly? This is a good question and one I certainly pondered when making this video. You might wonder what should get included and what should not. Should every sonic fan game level be included? Every spin-off? What about the special stages and boss battles. Do they count?
For the avoidance of doubt here are a few general rules I made for myself in the compiling and editing of this video. These are as follows:
-No variations of levels have been included. (This means I haven't included act 2, act 3 - or levels that have appeared in more than one game, as these are simply variations of the same level and not different levels in their own right.
-Official Sonic/Sega levels only.
-No variations of special stages. (I decided that a single special stage is distinct enough to be it's own level but not variations of the same stage.)
-Boss battles only if they are in separate levels.
-Only levels that have featured sonic are included. For example; Hot shelter in Sonic Adventure is not included as he is not playable here.
That's about it. If you spot a level that isn't here let me know, but other than that enjoy the video. I've included only one level in generations - can you find it?

Thank you so much for the comment and understanding. It took 3 weeks in total - a lot of recording and an insane amount of editing. I would of course love for the video to get more attention but I guess I'll just see what happens.

A lot of hard work clearly went into making this video what it is. This was an absolute feast for the eyes for a long time Sonic fan such as myself. Beautiful, beautiful video.
Thank you so much for the appreciation. It took three weeks of hardcore editing. Essentially I wanted to show the 'essence' of each level as Sonic passed through them, which meant going through a lot of the levels and choosing the best bits; which, as you can probably imagine and because I'm only showing each level for a few seconds - took a long time.
June 23, 2016; that's the day that will mark the 25th anniversary of the game that starred the 'Blue Blur' (alternate nicknames: Blue Dude with Attitude; Fastest Thing Alive): 'Sonic the Hedgehog' for Sega Genesis.
I doubt this is the intention of your rules, but Sonic is technically playable as a player 2 controlled character in all the levels he appears in for Shadow the Hedgehog. Nit-picks aside, great video. It reminds me of the feeling I got watching the History of Sonic video from Sonic Mega Collection.
Ah... Yes, your absolutely right. Oh well, It was a very ambitious project so there was bound to be some hiccups. Well observed; and yes, I suppose it is a little like the mega collection film, although that wasn't in my mind at all when putting this together. Thanks for the comment man.

And also, I noticed despite the “no reused levels” thing, Angel Island is present twice, along with Ice Cap (unless in that case it was only for the mini game), although in those cases, they were more distinct from the original versions than other pre-Forces returning level uses.
And despite the “no variations” rule, one can see the good and bad futures from CD in the sped-up sections.
And, the levels he was playable in within Shadow ARE in the sped-up sections.

+Ieuan Darknell just took the best and iconic moments from each stage and used that. I've done it in order of graphical progression so it doesn't jump between 2d and 3D to much.

+Sonic GameX10 Lost world had fantastic graphics and some beautiful tracks - you've got to give it that. I personally enjoyed the game despite it's undeniable flaws.
Yeah. It is especially noticed for its graphics. They were great. I honestly think, to my eye, that this game has some competition in graphics with a PlayStation 4, even though, the PlayStation may win. Back to the music, really, almost every Sonic game had great music, besides some from chronicles, and a few from Sonic boom. But, yeah, I couldn't agree with you more...
