I thought it seized the operations in 2010, but I think it just came back to life with this big order

Yes, Mexicana was for many years Mexico’s flagship airline owned by the Mexican government along with AeroMexico. In 2000 it was privatized despite it was doing financially well, and in 2010 it was purposely bankrupted. For 13 years the workers fight of their compensation payment, without any success. The current government bought the trademark to the former workers and relaunched the airline. On the 26th of December 2023 it began operations and it’s currently doing domestic flights, but with the 20 Embraer jets, they will open their first international routes to several U.S cities, Canada, Lima, Caracas, La Habana and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic
