Yes, special effects play a part, it's thanks to Armstrong, Randall and Powell et al for creating those brilliant action scenes that made Indiana Jones (in part) a huge success in the first place.
So many amazing people were involved in making Raiders, Temple, and Crusade. It's just the kinds of experiences that the world probably won't be able to experience ever again. "Films" are now made with more blue and green screens than ever, and the focus on legitimate acting has drifted away. It's all digital EFX, posturing, and executive egos. 🤮

True, but these films had a hell of a lot of matte paintings which was just the 80’s equivalent of blue and green screen
