    On public waters in the NE we have so much run off from golf courses and people fertilizing their lawns the algae blooms are excessive. Some towns then dump copper sulfate in which causes other problems despite what they claim. What type of fertilizer is it that you're using?

    First time Apache's been in a boat? Jimmy, take that man fishing! haha. I'm sure he's earned it with all the work he does. ... Another way to get some help fertilizing is take the high school fishing teams out. Let them poor the fertilizer and afterward ya'll go fishing on your lake. That would be a thril if I were a young fisherman. Hell, I'd love that opportunity myself as a 47 year old.

    Hey Jimmy, a buddy of mine has a 50 acre lake it’s always had really healthy bass he takes some out, Davy Hite told him he had to take so many out per acre every year but the bass have seem to look more unhealthy since taking some out, do you ever have to take bass out of your lake??

    • @TwinEagleRanch
      @TwinEagleRanch  2 года назад

      It’s all a matter of food. If they have enough to eat and it takes a bunch, you can have lots of bass. Most smaller lakes do need some bass removed or the food supply increased. We do both here. Thanks. May God Bless. jimmy

    Harmful algal blooms (HABs) occur when colonies of algae-simple plants that live in the sea and freshwater-grow out of control while producing toxic or harmful effects on people, fish, shellfish, marine mammals, and birds.
    While we know of many factors that may contribute to HABs, how these factors come together to create a 'bloom' of algae is not well understood.
    Studies indicate that many algal species flourish when wind and water currents are favorable.
    In other cases, HABs may be linked to 'overfeeding.' This occurs when nutrients (mainly phosphorus, nitrogen, and carbon) from sources such as lawns and farmlands flow downriver to the sea and build up at a rate that 'overfeeds' the algae that exist normally in the environment.
    So testing the water might not be such a bad idea before trying to alter it. Sometimes the best intentions lead to the worst results. Just sayn!

    • @TwinEagleRanch
      @TwinEagleRanch  2 года назад

      We need to fertilize to crest an algae bloom. That produces plankton and phytoplankton which build the food chain from the bottom up. That why we have such healthy fish. It’s the most important thing to do with smaller lakes and ponds! Would be nice if the government would fertilize some of our larger lakes. Most likely will never happen. Thanks. May God Bless. jimmy
