    I can't afford to read the whole passage first before attempting the questions. I read questions first, note the keywords, scan through the passage, locate where my answer is and then read around it . And I have never scored less than 34 and it is no luck.

    I'm trying to achieve 7 or higher and this techniques arent applicable if you want to get higher score. You are relying too much in your memory about how much can you remember after reading the passage and the knowledge from your high school years.

    I have watched this video for the 2nd time. When I watched for the 1st time, it was about 10 days ago, I kept in my mind the idea of only reading the whole passage. Before my reading score hardly reached 30 out of 40. Actually, it was 2 years ago. I have tried again after watching the video and surprise! I have gotten 35 out of 40 (It is an 8.0 band score already). That was the first attempt and today I tried to do another test and got 36 out of 40 (It is also an 8.0 band score). I strongly recommend you to follow the instruction and you will realise your real knowledge and reading skills.

    This video is helpful but I think reading one paragraph and checking questions and writing the answer and again reading another paragraph and repeating same step mentioned above will be more easy and answer will be also correct because we can't memorie all paragraph and write the answers

    • @Aehelp
      @Aehelp  4 года назад

      The problem with that strategy is that not all question are linear, meaning that you will get lost and you will often re-read to find the question, which is very slow. Also, when you go paragraph by paragraph, you lose the goal of the passage and this is important for some questions.

    I tried the skim and scan in the previous ielts i took. Some answer in the question can be found at the middle of the passage. So what i did is to go back and read the passage again. In this aspect you will lose time.

    • @Aehelp
      @Aehelp  8 лет назад

      Not only do you lose time, but often you will also get confused. In many cases when you find a matching word from the question, it is not actually the answer but different information.

  • @dreambig1564

Sir your method contradicts the other methods which state that u should never read the whole text since reading the text takes too much time !! and try instead to scan and locate the sentence using keywords and paraphrasing. Which method is better to use ? please answer me the date of my test is really close

    Hi,I'm after my second IELTS test just Saturday pass on 16/05/2015.I would like to put my 2 cents or opinion about this IELTS test.To me it is very sad and feel very sorry for the people that come to a stage in life when they need to pass this test.Is a great test for making a very good income to someone,but I often ask myself,do people that make those reading tests can pass them?Well my answer is NOPE,and I know I'm right,but this is the sad part just keep booking the test until you GUESS the answers and get the mark you want.Yeah this magic word GUESS.

    I do believe that it is a very wise technique and a bit straightforward to assess and get the right answer. However, if I spend my whole of my time to read A_G sections, how can I manage my time? I believe that it would take approximately 10-15 minutes already.
    If you be very appreciate if you have any suggestion regarding the time management.
    Thanks,

    • @Aehelp
      @Aehelp  9 лет назад

      +Longlao Nyianu
      Hi,
      The best way to manage your time is to practice. With practice, you will get a feel for how long questions and sections take you, AND you will get faster as you practice.
      Remember, these strategies are for scoring 6.5+ on IELTS. If you only want 5.0/5.5, then skimming and scanning is your best bet.
      Finally, always remember IELTS is not easy and takes lots of practice!!

    Passage: Procastination, a kind of chronic time-wasting, has long been dismissed as an innocuous human foible.

    my teacher, thanks a lot for your working and your advising.
    I have two question:
    - I am an Arabic student, so do not have a good quantity of English word!! how can I treat this problem because I must get over 5.5 in ielts to complete my study and achieve my dream!!
    - about your course!
    does it have specific period ? i mean can i finish it at 1 month? two? or opened time and just practice and practice...!!
    believe me, if i could get over 5.5, that will be the biggest achieve in my all my life!
    I hope that. but i think it is A little far.
    sorry if you found some wrongs in my writing,

    what about the questions which are important for the passage but they are not given ?

    • @Aehelp
      @Aehelp  8 лет назад

      It is Not Given. However, be ABSOLUTELY sure that it is not given. If the information is truly relevant and important for the passage, there is a good chance it is in there somewhere as a paraphrase. This is where practicing finding this information at home before the test becomes very important. Learn about this strategy in more detail here www.aehelp.com

    I think the number first question was FALSE just because in passage it was written Would and in question It took.

    • @Aehelp

      Ratesh, in this case 'would' is not an unreal condition, it is the future as seen from the past, so the answer is correct. Good question, www.aehelp.com

    helloo,,i ve been studying for ielts for about 3 months now,,,and to be honest skimming and scanning in reading section is working quite well with me,,when i saw this video i was kind of confused ,now i haven't tried your way yet but am scare to even think of a different approach ,,the approach that i am following is : when i see the yes,no,notG questions i look at the passage if the info is in the passage then its definitely true if the question say the opposite of the information written in the passage then its false if neither the true information nor the opposite for it is in the passage then the answer is not given and it has been working just fine ,,,what do u think ?

    • @Aehelp
      @Aehelp  9 лет назад

      Yosra Alansari Hi Yosra, For sure, stick to what works for you. Nevertheless, it does seem like you probably spend a lot of time to look for these answers. Have you timed yourself to make sure that you are able to complete a passage this way in 20 minutes?

    • @yosraalansari2363
      @yosraalansari2363 9 лет назад

      yes ,,i have checked it a lot of times ,and i managed to finish within the timescale ,,am not saying that your way doesn't work ,it just i have never tried it and my exam date is actually tomorrow ,so
