All the critters, birds, & some predators are going to be feasting. FEASTING. this is their stuffed crust supreme pizza with 16 bone-in wings, 5 cheese dip & bread twists, loaded tots, & lava cake, feast. Ohhh the lucky animals will stuff themselves into a food coma.
Ya know, back in 01' if I remember the year correctly, we had thousands of these in our yard. My dad laughed because he didn't mow the yard that summer. We had a neighbor come and cut it for hay. It seemed like every tall blade of grass had one on it. For whomever stated they loved their songs must have not had the experience of having thousands in your yard. It was ear piercing non stop for weeks. Yet, ya know what. One day they were just gone. There wasn't any damage done. I found them in the creek too, underwater, which fascinated me. They obviously can live underwater in the creepy bug stage, before they shed their shell and have wings. I don't see any need for anyone to panic over them unless you are OCD about mowing your yard. I don't recommend mowing if they are in your yard!
@@BrouilletteLuke I know what dragonfly nymphs are. Been playing in the creeks over forty years. The "nymphs" were indeed cicadas, with their red eyes, and they were underwater in the creek, thus the reason I was extremely fascinated. I have no reason to lie. There were full grown adult ones as well. The water literally almost camouflaged the adults. You couldn't see their wings. I can't recall if the adults were fully submerged but do know the younger ones were. I googled this just now and I see there are several others who have declared this, as well. Thank you for your response.
just be glad these aren't locusts, they don't eat everything bare, they stay basically where they are born, wont be back for years, the big thing is they are loud, and there will be a shi&load of them
It's insane here in Halifax county Virginia.. we've never seen anything like it.. the sound of that low frequency buzz you can hear from miles and miles away it's freaky
Periodical cicadas don't lay low to thwart predators, molting is even done alot of times during daylight.Sheer numbers void any need whatsoever to worry about predators.Compared to fast and agile annual cicadas the periodical have no need.
THERE IS A CICADA IN MY ROOM ITS BLEATING LIKE CRAZY ITS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR 3 DAYS IM GOING CRAZY I HATE THIS ITS GIVING ME A MIGRAIN I DONT WANT TO KILL IT BUT I WANNA LURE IT OUT BUT I CANT FIND IT ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY IM SLO CLOSE TO CRYING

Na. There not eaten by animals intentionally. So anything stated is meh. See there not consumed. Especially by birds and chickens.
@@bdubb5390 they do eat the cicadas, actually. The nymphs especially are valuable to animals, since they are similar to soft shell crabs.
@@bdubb5390they are definitely eaten by fish and birds
It could cause some problems in the near future. The increase in predators populations will surely impact the ecosystem
I was planting my garden and every hole I dug had a cicada in it. They bout to be out here.

theyre smelly when they die, right?
They don’t and cannot live underwater. You’re thinking of a dragonfly nymph. They molt their exoskeleton too.

I tried last year to film one, and all of a sudden, here came my neighbors cats, grabbed it and ran; the poor cicada was screeching.😢

@@MorphinGaming I can feel the pain omg my cicada/bird is still screeching idk why i want it to stop so bad
Illinois happens to be the most populated cicada state, I’d rather deal with them then the people around my town any day.
So when is this gonna happen?
Now
Yt censoring their own families. Sad.
if you want you could chocolate cover some and pig out
Same Order as stinkbugs, not Family. Get it right Times. Should've consulted me, I've been an entomologist for 24 years.
