An observation about our local cicada flock. So these bugs spend 13, 17 or whatever years underground. It is a scientific fact that while down there they spend zero minutes in flight school, nor is there anyone available to teach these critical skills. So cicada flight goes something like...hey ! what are these things on my back...wooooooow!..woooow! crash! And they don't live long enough to get the hang of it. So stock up on wiper fluid.
I noticed how many birds are hanging out and singing in the trees in my backyard at 2 and 3 o'clock in the morning. I think they're getting ready for the fest, plus with squirrels during the day and raccoons at night they will hopefully eat most of the ones coming out in my backyard.
Why are there so many empty shells ? And why are they dying so fast ? My grandson is loving them lol.. along with his grandma lolol. They really just started flying here today. In Steger.
I’m not ready. I’m in Homewood. And the tree in front of my house is getting full. I know it’s going to be massive already. And the seagulls are going to be out of control
They sound beautiful!🙂💯❤👍!
Lots of food for all kinds of animals that prey on these bugs. They don't live long once they shed their shell and the males start singing.
Birbs and small mammals love then!
Not going outside for the next few weeks, not a fan of them. Especially since they fly into you and land in your hair.
Yeah I’m not going anywhere near them

Remember these in my childhood as fun pets and to scare the beegeevies out of my friends, cousins, and two younger sisters.
Maybe I'm nieve but what exactly is there purpose?
Like democrats and LGBT people they have no purpose
To Annoy
To reproduce. They come out make a lot of noise, mate, lay eggs, and die. All in about six weeks or so.
1:21 they actually don’t make sounds at night. (Thank god). They only do it during the day which is nice

Raid locked and ready to go
I’m with Andrea except I can’t appreciate them. Went through them in the 1990’s I don’t like them at all.
