    This lad is more of a politician than a general based on the way he speaks. Anyone in the SLT of the MoD who when asked about money says we have enough to do what is needed isn't being genuine. Even just saying that we do what we can but more would increase our ability would be fine.

      As a civvie, I always think of it as strange when people are sat on computers in fatigues. You don't see chefs in uniform. Why would they need to blend-in to the office environment? Surely what you wear should reflect what you are doing? Wear camouflage in the jungle, wear causal clothes in the office, wear dress uniform on parade, etc

      Things are run this way for a reason. I am the complete opposite of the 'management class' and I also want this place to come to its end, albeit for completely different reasons to those personages. And to be fair when you look at the dismal state of behaviour of joe public on average, I think many people domestically and abroad would agree heartily with me, even if our living standard comes to its end.

    The INT corps has quadrupled since 1986. Thats interesting.
    His approach on attracting young talent into the military who might leave in their 20s for other career prospects also makes sense.
    More militaries need to be bold and dance to the tune of the populace, or else no one will join them

  • @pertinaciousD
    @pertinaciousD 7 месяцев назад +2

    I have to admit, when I served 20+ years ago I felt just like a replaceable cog in a machine and felt no loyalty or need to reciprocate it. Doing something a bit more technical and having a sense of worth is essential for retention in the military, otherwise people just view it as a way to save money for a few years and get away from home.

  • @sbwords

    Soft questions by the interviewer. If everyone is so “brilliant” and doing such a “great job”, why did a U.S. military leader describe the UK military as “barely second tier”?

      @@JOHNDOE2K13peace shows potential adversaries (and attackers) you are not a country to messed with. USA coming out of WW1 and an economic downturn within the space of a decade give or take was in a position to propel and expand a navy to contest and control 2 large bodies of water when it needed to do so in WW2 (Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean). Isoroku Yamamoto despite planning, contesting sand executing the attack on Pearl harbour feared all they did was “awaken a sleeping giant”.
      USA didn’t want to enter into another European conflict. Fast forward to the 21st century still peace is better for 1000000 reasons pleb. In peace time you can play war games, grow and develop and scheme possibilities. Doesn’t make you look weak or lazy. But failure to maintain and innovate your security is a problem. Head of the FBI just have a speech a few days ago about the threat Chinese hackers pose to American institutions - and even in a grand sense your statement fails because we are never truly at peace. Technological and economic wars have never stopped. Ray Dalio say the maintenance of these two * reinforcing and providing freedom the tech space to learn, fail and learn will allow a country to maintain its dominance for many years to come (he did say many things too).
      In short go read and learn about economics, geopolitics, history, psychology etc. if you happen to be 30 and over making to comment too. That’s just as embarrassing.

    When way to look at it is that the act of observation changes the thing you observe. So, if you don’t like something/you want to change something you “bring The Light”.
    The more “observations” made the more things change. And, you might be able “forecast” or “model” what will happen. But, as soon as the change is made, your in a totally new paradigm, and you have to keep updating your model. In some ways it’s just another arms race - tho, you’re not capturing assets or territory but hearts and minds… :-)
