I remember when going to see with my best friend, most of people in the cinema were their 20s around my age, so mostly Gen Zers and Millennials. When this scene with the song when it started to play, everyone was singing along including me and my Bestie
I never really cared much about this song, but seeing it in this movie paired with the training has officially made me a fan.

god the Shrek 2 version is literally the best version of the song
And the best moment is when to insert it. After all, this is the fairy godmother's song for Fionna to kiss Charming, but it fits perfectly with Shrek, because he is coming to save her. Plot-based, and not just when the hero does some random thing.

Hold on a second, I just recently realized this might have been a reference! For those not in the know (I wouldn't blame y'all, nobody alive has seen every video on RUclips), there is this one video that has a version of Holding out for a Hero over some Mario gameplay. I'm willing to believe this is more of a coincidence, than an actual reference to that video.
