Sure does mate! Nice and flat too, no jump ups for trucks or anything... Not sure how I feel about no rest areas though... But there is the truck stop at Gunalda I guess...
Well a lot has changed in the last 30 years. Thanks Rob for showing this we haven't been there yet. 110K/h is a bit too much for caravans I think they should be limited to 90k/h. We would have way less accidents with caravans
Yeah I'm not totally certain of the caravan speed limit. It could be 100... 90 isn't a bad idea either! You will love the drive now when going through there mate!
Looks a great bit of road Rob thanks for sharing it with us and hopefully there’s more roadworks in the near future. As Confucius said a journey of a thousand miles starts with the first bypass 😂😂
Just like in Victoria, there is no caravan speed limit in Queensland, and drivers are advised to follow posted speed limits instead. Learner drivers in Queensland are allowed to tow a caravan or trailer on the condition that their L plate is prominently placed at the back of the caravan or is visible on the trailer.
@@TheWandererAUS It's actually taken over 37 years to get from Caloundra to Curra. I was living in Brisbane in 1987 and the freeway north ended at the Caloundra turnoff. Every new section was a blessing.
Absolutely mate. The Cooroy section had a heap of mountain to move to negate the flooding and the width of the road for that section... A good 2 years I think just moving dirt. But yes... 15 years for 30km or so... Will be a long time before it reaches your way!
Thanks Rob, it’s going to make life so much better
Absolutely! Hopefully old Gympie doesn't become a ghost town now though 🤞
Drove up and down the bypass recently- bloody brilliant, saves quite a bit of time 👍

Yeah it is a beauty! Huge time saver now! Love a good mantra... and thats not a bad one! haha 🤣
Who's holding the camera if your driving Rob?
Errr Rob, you better check your road laws… caravans are limited to 100 kph
Yeah I wasn't sure about that Nikki. Good to know. I don't have a caravan, but handy info! 😊
Not in Queensland.

@@Mrbuckaroonie.. That is rediculous!
I really can't understand why they didn't tie it into the gunalda double lanes.
That is the next step I think. I don't think there is a time frame on it though...
Your kidding me 15 YEARS
Yeah hard to believe! That first section around Cooroy took them a long time due to the terrain
I was thinking that this is how the road going all around Australia should be BUT 15 years for 26kms ,I’m not liking my chances 👁️👁️😎😇🐕🦺❤️🇦🇺
It was 15 years for the whole bypass from Cooroy to Curra. Not the last 26kms
Yeah that's correct 👍
Haha yeah was a lot of earth works that needed to happen to get the road through. All up so far, it's about a 62km stretch

15 years to construct. What a joke. That could only happen in Australia. The Chinese can build a whole city in less time.
