there's certain moves in Street Fighter 3 3rd strike and definitely in VF have these properties but Tekken also has this thing where it will severely Nerf a move but leave it in the game. Tekken also doesn't always like mids or lows that are too good as it would detract from movement.
Soul Calibur 6 has a lot of those, most known being Mitsurugi 1KB. -14 on hit, -26 ob. Only the transition to stance can make it "safe" as he has a revenge move from the stance.
@@taylorbee4010 have you played Tekken lately? They have super good tracking, safe mids and highs. They pretty much removed the want to side step all the time. Tekken 7 is notorious amongst the community for nerfing movement so bad.
Noctis' "Piercing Spear" (f+1+2) can be punished on hit with a toe kick if used as a wall ender. Granted, it does laughable damage and puts your back to the wall, but it's still there. Thanks to Scallywag 93 for that one!
although lee's d4's are - on hit, it's pretty dangerous to punish the first one. second one is fine because he can only do another low after. But if you retaliate instead of ducking/low parry on the first kick, you can get CH by a d4 n4
Got into training mode blocked the fullscreen Jack slide still didn't find the love of my life and in more debt because of trying to find her. Disliked this vid but still 10/10!!
would have been worth noting that paul can just continue the 10hit string onto the 4th or 5th hits to dissuade you from attempting to punish, both are punishable on block but if you attempt to punish just the first 3 hits you will eat them and he will be safe at that point
We may disagree about Claudio but man you always teaching me something new. This is a real good video I never even thought about punishment on hit good stuff.
Many characters's 10 hit combos have punishable/interruptable parts on hit! Paul's definitely stands out because that's what makes it an unviable 10 frame punish
Eliza's jumping 3 at earliest possible moment is -15 on hit.. Eliza players occasionally do this by accident due to an instant divekick 3 misinput *edit* ive always known this thing about Eliza but this comment made me lab the other 2Ds.. Akuma's jumping 3 has the same behavior but he has no reason to do it in a match.. geese's shippuken is also negative on hit but has high pushback.. tho it can be punished (on hit) when his back is against the wall after the move and within your range
Yoshimitsu's flash can theoretically punish certain "safe" moves on hit. I would use miguel's db3,4 (-9) on hit. but this put me right over yoshimitsu's face for a flash. its inconsistent but can be a punish for landing a 2 hit low string??? the audacity of it all really.
Ganyu and Lee moves although can be punishable on hit but anyone won't just press a single button so not practical on the other hand Bryan not so much but Paul yes seen quite often
enough moves have been removed from legacy characters over the years. why not add those back instead of your idea of removing moves to further dumb down the game.
Most of these moves still have some utility as a round ender like the video explained. I'd imagine most are just there for legacy reasons and don't really mess with the game balance. There are some other peculiar interactions like female characters being able to slap Anna back after getting hit by her b2, Heihachi's headbutt carnival throw and Steve being able to sway from Bryan's left punch parry follow-up mach breaker among other things. Just there for the sake of adding some personality and fun/goofiness.
@@names_are.uselessyt7908 Adding moves do not make the game "deeper" by default and neither does removing useless/broken moves "dumbs down" the game. Sometimes it's the exact opposite depending on the move being removed/added. A lot of 10-strings are just there without adding much to the game. Take Bryan's for example, you can just stand there and block all of them.
counterpoint, lees laser edge kick is a noob crusher since they dont know how to parry and dont get out of crouch for the last mid kick, therfore i will continue to spam it until i die
Apart from the Ganryu misinput, these are all round enders for clutch situations. Quick unblockable, 10f string punish, fullscreen ambiguous mixup... they don't need to kill in one hit, they need to chip away enough damage only once.
But not all launchers are quick or unblockable, not all 10f deal enough damage and not all situations are a clutch. That's why you option select. You're just missing the point here. You're not wrong, but default launchers come out at 15f and are minus and you don't want to try to launch what you can punish with a 10f on block when the opponent has low health. And if your point is that "you play tekken for fun you don't care frames"... then why are you here on this very specific, very frame-data heavy video?
@dammittt He’s been getting buffed since S1 and characters still do everything better than he can. Remember Lee was known for his amazing wall carry? S3 gave everyone OD wall carry. His D3, arguably his best low is so inconsistent to the point it whiffs at 0 range. I love Lee but why play Lee in a tournament setting when he’s mediocre at everything everyone else can do?
@@MidnightTrain095 What I and dammittt tried to explain is that having some random punishable on hit low has nothing to do with how good a character is. Demo man isn't even the reason Paul is good. He had that since Tekken 3 and he was not a common character or considered good before T7. Noctis even has a better version of demoman and he's worse than Lee for sure.
@dammittt I personally think d3 is a pretty good low, it's probably the fastest high-crush low in the game that gives a full combo on CH with decent tracking. It'll even even go under some mids. The other one like that is Geese d4 and we all know how good that is.
I know Tekken has a lot of unique moves but if none of them are usable then why put them in there. Why do they fill out the move list only to have you use like a Max of 10 or 20
Because it would be hella good if it were not punishable and Paul already had great punishment for everything 12f and beyond. It's fun for characters to have some weaknesses
So if you don't find your one true love it's probably because you still have to improve your punishment skills.
This is true. I punished snake edge with crouch jab the other day, and still haven't found "The One." Practice your punishes!
welp time to work on my punishment i guess maybe then she will then bring back the kids
Okay got to admit, the concept of "punishable on hit" is pretty mind-blowing.
Some moves just really really suck
Or they have a stagger animation where if you defeat the stagger you can punish it

Another good one to mention is Lucky Chloe's wr3+4, the low,low spinning slide. Punishable on hit by getup kicks only if it wallsplats.

2:01 punishment not optimal. Do a kicharge into unblockable for maximum style points.
Great tips! Also, lei's snake 4 is also punishable on hit with a low, as he cannot crouch when he's in a stance
They should give Jack's dive attack to Gigas so he can do his grounded attacks after
