- In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make terrific sweet snacks called Butterscotch Haystacks. They are flavored with peanut butter and butterscotch. Yummy!
BUTTERSCOTCH HAYSTACKS
Ingredients:
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
1 cup butterscotch morsels
1 cup chow mien noodles
1 cup miniature marshmallows
Instructions:
Place peanut butter and butterscotch morsels in a medium-sized saucepan over low heat for about 6 minutes, or until melted together. Remove from heat. Add chow mien noodles and marshmallows. Stir until workable. Drop by teaspoonfuls on waxed paper-lined shallow pan or cookie sheet. Let stand until firm. This recipe makes 30 to 35 haystacks.

LOVE that you are back posting videos….. we love you!
Thank you so much.
Dear Betty,
1. Thanks for making cooking manageable.
2. Spraying the measuring cup BEFORE measuring sticky stuff like honey and peanut butter makes life a lot easier 🙂.
3. I am posting from Israel.
I'm going to make this for Super Bowl Sunday. Thanks Betty & to your daughter as well!
I remember these as a kid and loved them! Thank you, Betty!
Haystacks was one of the Xmas candies that my Mom would make during the holidays and have setting out on crystal platters along with fudge, potato candy, divinity, buckeyes etc. Yours looks really good Betty! I will try your recipe! I'm glad you're back!
So delicious Betty💓
This is such a delicious snack! Perfect for Halloween. Thank you for sharing with us☺️
I’m so happy you’re back. Thank you for sharing.
my mom used to make these for the holidays growing up. They were always my favorite.

ty for hatstacks recipe betty
Hi Betty! I have a question about this recipe. Would pretzel sticks be a good substitution for the chow mein noodles? I feel like they would be really good with pretzel sticks! ☺
You are the judge.
Try.
I was thinking the same
Oh, brilliant idea with substitute use of pretzels 👏 I certainly like that. Aside that, I intend to substitute the butter scotch morsels with caramels. 😋
Unfortunately, she never answers. I think it sounds good. Just use your instincts. You like pretzels, use them! 😁
Why not? Sounds delicious.
💜YUM💜
I have been watching my favorite Betty's Kitchen videos, love, love, love, the Thanksgiving, Christmas,Easter,Mother's day dinner table videos, don't know how you accomplish all that you do,and it's such perfection, tons of work goes into a holiday dinner table, but you make it look so easy,I've been watching those videos 2 and 3 times over, you make everything so festive and magical for the holidays.
That's so sweet! Thank you so much!
My Aunt use to make this at a Christmas time and it was a favorite! I’ll have to give it a try!
I made these. Everyone loves them.
Hi Betty :). I’ve been watching you since I was a child (maybe 10 or 11). I am now nearly 20 and I’ve been using many of your recipes while growing up, I’ve even memorized some by heart. I have to say you were a staple of my childhood. I decided to come back to your channel today to see if you’ve started posting again and I was very upset to hear about your husband. I want to say how truly sorry I am for your loss. I am happy to see you’re still posting and I hope you and your family are doing well. Your channel has brought myself and many others comfort and I appreciate all that you’ve done throughout these years on RUclips❤️
How sweet--thank you so much!
Hey Miss Betty ! I love watching your videos and seeing you cook and love your sweet attitude! Thanks for sharing your great recipes and all the hard work you and your hubby put into these great videos xoxoxo happy new year ❤
Thank you so much!
My grandmama used to make these for us every year around Halloween. I don't recall her using marshmallows but I think she would add some peanuts in the mix. These are very tasty. Thank you for sharing this with us. 🌞
I've made something similar to this before with Fiber One cereal and it was pretty good. Interesting recipe, Betty! Thanks for sharing it with us!
We make something similar with peanut butter & light Karo syrup and corn flakes. Never knew the name but a friend calls them "crack" because they are so addictive lol
In the UK we make this kind of thing with all bran or shredded wheat (crunchy, unsweetened cereals).
Hello and thank you for time and the sharing of your recipes. 🎀🎀🇨🇦
I add redskin peanuts for a little salty taste.....our family loves these!
Please more recipes 😢 we need you this holiday season. I can’t even make Mac n cheese
I’ve never heard of these before. But that’s why I love your channel you are always cooking unique and wonderful foods. Thank you Betty. 🥰🥰
I have never seen this recipe before, thank you, looks so good.
Oh boy! I remember these from years ago......soooooooo good!
I've not been in here in ages and haven't made those haystacks in years either. My girls loved them when they were younger.I love mine with spanish peanuts too.

YUM! Great idea! ;)
These look amazing. I've missed your videos and so happy you're back. I was so sorry to hear about your husband. Thank you for coming back!
I do like peanut butter. I'm always looking for a recipe that has peanut butter! Thank you so much.
Thank you Miss Betty for sharing how to make this yummy snack, Betty's Butterscotch Haystacks, crunchy salty chow mein noodles in combo with the sweet butterscotch and maybe a hint of nutty peanut butter? lol...👍and greetings to you from Mexico! 😃😃
Yay! You're back!
Melt marsh mellows with other ingredients and add some peanuts if desired. It comes out creamer and coats better when melting marsh mellows. You can use chocolate chips instead or 1/2 cup of each and they are called "ting a lings"......just saying, old long time cook here!
They look so delicious and fall festive this time of year. Thank you for sharing recipe. Love Tamson 😇
Thank you, Tamson! I really appreciate you.
@@bettyskitchen Betty you are a huge blessing. I truly have enjoyed your channel for years. I appreciate you also. Such a creative individual with a warmhearted approach to sharing wonderful recipes. Love from Springfield, Ky. 😇
Thank you Betty, this would be cute for a Autumn party 🍂🍁🍃🎃
I agree! ;)
Yummy!!! A lady I worked with had made some one year and they were delicious! Thanks for the recipe!
Ahhh, one of my favorites! I never made it myself but I remember eating it on plenty of occasions when I was really young, and I always LOVED it! It comes out good with pretzels too, but I just LOVE those Chow Mein noodles. They really give it something special! 😍 Thanks for the recipe, Betty! 🙏🏽🤗🍽
Looks real good that will be a great sweet treat for Halloween thanks for sharing it God bless
I have loved chow mein noodles my whole life. Looks great! My Mom makes something like this at Christmas with chocolate:)
Looks great! Wonder how that would work in the microwave?
It would probably work well in the microwave. Just heat for short increments and keep checking/stirring. Good luck! :)
They look yummy!!
I bet coconut, nuts, raisins and other cereal would be a great mix in.
They look delicious Betty
Hi Betty! I am a new subscriber! I had haystack before and they are delicious!!! Thank you for sharing!
I had no idea you were back! I missed you so much, welcome back and I hope all is well on your end!
Yes! Thank you!
Nice
Who would give this a thumbs down?!
Great recipe as always Betty ♥️ Lots of love ❤️
Where have you been hiding girl? Haven't had any of your videos( yes I'm subscribed) pop up on my feed in months. Stupid YT algorithms. I used to know someone that made chocolate haystacks using pretzel sticks. I like butterscotch so these sound great.
Beautiful Betty--love this recipe and this is a treat I can make. Do you have any tips on making the Christmas Bark.
Making your chicken vegetable dressing caserole today but I am using shrimp because it is something I happen to have on hand.
Here is my video for Holiday Mint Bark. I hope it helps! :)

I like to make chocolate / butterscotch haystacks, but never though of adding peanut butter. Would peanut butter work with the chocolate version?
I think so!
