- ✅ True or False??? Every Spanish Guitarist has these three pieces in their repertoire. Which ones are missing? I know one that starts with an R....
I recorded this video with the @CordobaGuitars Protégé C1 Matiz, one of my current favorite budget friendly guitars out there. Great choice for someone looking to purchase their first guitar! I decided to pick one up over the holidays and finally try it out for myself. That way I can give a real review and recommendation to new students and followers. Full review coming soon to YT, but so far so good. 👌🏼What do you think of the sound?

All three of them are a must for any aspiring guitarist.
I agree! Great repertoire to learn as a guitarist and listen to as well! I enjoy them all.
To me they are beautiful classics that it is very pleasant to play and listen to.
Agreed 👌🏼
When I told my guitarist friend I was learning canon in d he just rolled his eyes. I still love it. Nothing wrong with aspiring to play and eventually learning to play beautiful pieces for yourself...
Exactly! I feel the same. For me, many of these classics will never get stale or old. That said, it all depends on personal taste as well. But yes, before you play for anyone, play for you… 👌🏼
Every each one of them has own special emotion.
Yes! 👍🏼 One of the reasons I tried to choose these three popular, but contrasting pieces.
They’re classics that never get old, to me.
Yes, exactly 👌🏼
Thank's sono much! I was getting crazy to find out the second and third name song!! ❤
❤️🔥 Thanks! I also made a longer Top 5 version video as well incase you’re curious. 😉

I can play the beginning of Lagrima, without Sheet music and I can kinda play malaguena... I love all those pieces... Reminds me of Andres Segovia...
Nice, glad to hear you know some of them! Now it’s time to learn the rest of the pieces 😉
@DavidChiriboga I can actually play Lagrima in its entirety, with sheet music...
These Spanish guitar classics will be the best classics of all the guitar repertoire.
👍🏼
All three are really great, never stop playing them. Thank you!!!❤
Thanks so much 😉❤️🔥
I’ve heard that 2 malaguana everywhere. It goes hard
Yup, one of the most popular melodies used everywhere…
Dios mio that was so awesome never over played

Beautiful music❤

Lágrimas is such a beautiful piece, they all beautiful pieces so let’s just keep playing them.
Yes, exactly my sentiment as well. 👌🏼

Awesome, congrats on getting your first classical! And wow, trying these three on your first day is a fierce endeavor 😅 Wish you the best of luck with your nylon stringed guitar! 👌🏼
Classics that is for sure!!
Agreed 👌🏼 These classics can’t be over played for me.
Amazing!
❤️🔥
Classics that always stir the soul! I wish I could learn guitar.
Agreed, classics forever 👌🏼 Hey, there’s always still time to learn guitar. Why not now?
I love to hear them every time. I must learn to play them some time. 😊
👍🏼 Never too late to learn them 😉 Start with one…
Me gustan todos! They are classics...and I enjoy hearing and watching you play them. 💜💃🏻💜
Thanks! And yes, definitely classics I don’t get tired of either. 👌🏼
They are the foundation never ever gets old actually timeless
I definitely agree 👌🏼
Yes, I play 2 of them Malaguena and Asturias , ❤❤🎉
Cool 👌🏼 What else would you add to this list? Romanza of course? 😅
😊 Romanza of course , I am a new follower of your channel and I love the content. Will you make a clip about Zambra(juan serrano) playing? I just love it ،And all Spanish guitar .
Bro took looksmaxxing to the next level
All three are clasical a must for any player of clasical/Spanish player. 🌹
Agreed 👌🏼
I will never tire of Lagrima. The other two though....
I don’t get tired of any of them 😉
3 is like the beginning of "middle at the night"😂❤
My Dad is Spanish and his dad who is my grandpa has played these on his guitar before, I’m sure of it
Nice 👌🏼 Hopefully nostalgic memories
@@DavidChiribogaI did get some nostalgic memories.
Lee them playing all of them . Mil gracias
👍🏼
I play all 3. I never tire of them.
Same here 👌🏼
Lagrima reminds me of Love of my Life by Queen.
Nice, I can see that… it’s got that similar upward double stop start. That’s a beautiful song ❤️🔥
I was just watching a classical guitar video where this guy was reviewing guitars and this one was in the video!
Nice… Yea, it’s a great entry guitar for that price range. Or for anyone who doesn’t have a nylon and wants something that’s actually playable and sounds good. 👌🏼
They are classics. Love them
Agreed 👌🏼🙂
All three...awsome
❤️🔥
I just started learning Asturias😂
Nice 👌🏼 Let me know how the progress is coming along….
Classics!!
Agreed 👌🏼
There classic and deserved to be played forever. Teach me 😢
Yes, they are classics 👌🏼 Let’s do it, I’m here to help. What type of lessons would you find helpful for me to make?
Romance anonimo should be up there also. Such a beautiful and easy to play song
Oh for sure 👌🏼 I actually included it on my longer form video of Top 5 🙂 Too many to include in this short vid lol
Great picks! Gotta add Spainish Balled.
Thanks! For sure, that’s in my full Top 5 video. 👌🏼😉
Great music never ages or gets repetitive!
I completely agree 👌🏼
Love that malagueña strumming -its so complicated -!
It’s a fun one. And actually, I feel like this song is a great one to break down to a beginners version and can be accessible. You just need someone to help break it down for you. 😉
Sounds awesome
Thanks 🙏🏼
Beautiful - Classics!
Thanks and yes, classics agreed 👌🏼
I would love to learn more Spanish guitar ❤
That’s great! What do you currently play?
I totally have to learn malaguena
Go for it! 😉 It’s a great piece to play as a beginner or advanced. Fun stuff…
Great songs....❤
Yes, they are classics, always fun to play ❤️🔥
As a new guitarist, I'm partial to keeping Asturias for sure... Hearing Ana Vidovic play it was a defining moment in my three and a half decades life
She’s an amazing classical player! I’ve seen her a few times. She’s also inspired me. Her rendition of this piece is fantastic. 👌🏼
I love malaguena 🎉 best for me
👌🏼Classic
3rd one sounds like MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT
Who is that song by?
First time i have ever seen a spanish guitar with a maple fingerboard.
Yea, it’s interesting that Cordoba made that choice for this guitar series. But I dig the look and it feels good to me. Nothing immensely noticeably different from my typical ebony fingerboard.
Yes, they are in my repertoire
👍🏼
❤
❤️🔥
Classics forever!!!
Yes! 👌🏼
Classic!
👌🏼
Austuris was the 1st song I was taught at 8 years old…many years ago. All very much Classics
Wow, Asturias at 8 😮 That’s an early start for that piece. I wish I could have played it at that age. I learned it in college, in my early 20’s the first time, then dropped it for years. Now finally came back to it. Such a beauty, and def a classic 👌🏼
@@DavidChiriboga We did nothing but practice Chords, Inversions, Scales, the infamous p.i.m.a Tremelo (all the time), etc… for the 1st year. He cleverly taught us Austurias in small phrases (adding in technique one bite at time). By the time I was in my teens my father regretted sending me to classes because Led Zeppelin, Def Leopard, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Iron Maiden…was child’s play. I found my way into the Blues in my twenties (still my go to) but have returned to almost everything classical (in my 50’s now…with a Latin flare, Love the Phrygian mode). Much more of challenge to play.

Not at all overplayed. It is a treat to keep playing them and even improvising. It is hard these days to find pieces like these that really impress anyone listening.
Yup, I fully agree… I love to add little alterations to play them with my touches and personality as well. That helps for me to not feel them being “overplayed” But that said, they’re beautiful just as they were written as well. 👌🏼
legacy!
First one sounds like Blackbird by Paul McCartney
Yes, definitely has that feel with the ascending position and phrase. 👍🏼
It's not that easy. You got talent
Thanks so much! Appreciate the kind words… If I can do it, anyone can… 😉 But yes, takes discipline and consistency. I definitely wasn’t a natural…
🔥🔥🔥
🙏🏼
Didn't know the first one but the latter two should continue to be played for centuries!
Classics! I agree…
very important pieces for every guitarist, defiantly classics that deserve to be carried throughout time, perhaps more for technique and less for concert/recitals....IMO-Respectfully...
Thanks for chiming in…. 👍🏼
The last one,Andre's segovia
Yes 👍🏼 He took that piece and the whole suite by Albeniz and put them on the map and was heavily responsible for their popularity…
Someday I will be as good as you. What kind of acoustic do you have? It has a nice sound!
Thanks! I’m sure you can play better than me one day… 😉 In this video, I’m playing the Cordoba Protege Matiz, a great budget friendly guitar for beginners or your first nylon string. 🙂 tr.ee/pzOWVt87wv
Recuerdos bro
Oh for sure! One of my favorites👌🏼 I actually included that one in the Top 5 full video version that I posted. Thanks for chiming in… 👍🏼
Alright then, off to Reconquista and then the New World.
Spanish music is the absolute best.
😆 Yes, who doesn’t love it…. 👌🏼
They are great introductory pieces to get any beginner a little deeper knowledge of classical songs. Anything is better than stairway to heaven and smoke on the water! LOL
Lol, yes, that’s true 😝That said, these can have their challenging parts for beginners as well.
I’d replace Malagueña with Capricho Arabe.
For my taste, I would too… 👌🏼 But I think Malagueña is the winner in popularity for the masses…
Malagueña Salerosa. Mi amor pertenece a ti
Malagueña Saleros is a great classic Latin tune… One of the first that I learned with the guitar.
Great
I have two questions
First classic is harder pr flamenco
Second what string do you use
Thanks! That question is very broad and don’t know if there is a definitive answer. Hard core classical can have some very advanced left hand harmonies with multiple voicing and counterpart. Traditional Flamenco from its birth to up to the 50’s era, I think it’s safe to say the left hand work wasn’t as complicated as some classical. However the right hand techniques have always been the advanced theme and uniqueness of Flamenco. And with current Flamenco, the harmonies and counterpoint have gotten much more advanced since jazz and other genres have influenced Flamenco music. So in short, I don’t think one can say either is more complicated. Just depends on the rep.
Asturias was the mysterious stars of my firmament.
Never!!!! These pieces are timeless!!!
Yes 👌🏼
P.S. -- Gracias. Now I know the names of these Spanish guitar classics. 💜
👍🏼
Classics, let them Ring for eternity
Yes! 👌🏼
Could u please do a tutorial for all of them?😁
I can try 😅 When you say tutorial, what exactly would you need help with? Playing it slowly section by section and showing what techniques are used, what fingerings I use, etc? A little of everything? Or more so you can follow some tab along the screen?
this guy kinda looks like steven tyler
lol, that’s a new one. Aerosmith is actually my favorite rock band… 😉
Sir I love your jaw lines😆
People seem to notice my jaw line… 😉
I know maleguna and Asturias
Awesome 👍🏼
I actually never played, but I listened weekly for 25+ years. Blame it on Randy Rhodes and the likes.
👍🏼🤘🏼
Lovevit
👍🏼
They are the spanish wonderwall lol
lol 😝 Maybe not to that degree… More like “Stairway”
You kinda look like Luis from the Resident Evil 4 Remake
(This is a good thing)
Ok lol, I’ll have to look him up 😉
I never learned lagrima and never will but yeah, the other two are super cool for teaching tremolo and what the hell VCIII reaaaally means in scores xD
Also leyenda will forever (probably) be the song I enjoy playing the most
I put Asturias Leyenda in my Top 5 longer video. Definitely one of my favs 👌🏼
Learning these is like a rock guitarist learning Stairway or Teen Spirit.
Start with the “overplayed” basics. The essentials even. Work your way up from there.
Yup, exactly lol. I actually don’t mind playing the overplayed pieces, if I enjoy them, because in the end, we each can put our own personality and style into it.
Falta 'entre dos águas'
That would be a great one to add! 👌🏼Definitely played by many. I should make a rumba edition of the top three…
I thought spanish romance was a must in most guitarist
Oh of course. I included that one in my longer Top 5 form video. Just had to choose another three for this shorter version.
Damn 🎯🎯🎯🎯 also Romanza lol
For sure 👌🏼 That’s the R that I eluded to in my video description 😉 I’ll have to make a top 10 soon.
What are the three pieces? Please.
Lágrima by Tarrega, Malagueña by Lecuona, and Asturias by Albeniz 👍🏼
Nah they are classics, im learning lagrima rn and its really fun, and an somewhat easy play.
Agreed, never get tired of these classics. Yes, Lagrima isn’t too difficult, but there is a couple challenging moments for beginners though.
i’m trying to learn lagrima and the bare chords make me wanna kms😭
Lol, yes I hear you. It seems easy until you reach the second section. It’s a little more challenging for beginners when you hit that 7th fret positioning… But you just have to break it down, measure by measure and also look for the best fingerings.
Dude turned his thumb into a pick
In Spanish Guitar we turn all 5 fingers into picks lol 😉 You’ll have to check out the Alzapua Flamenco technique, you’ll get a kick out of it. That’s almost literally using the thumb as a pick.
@@DavidChiriboga Oh yeah man, I took some classes for Spanish guitar in University. I was reffering more to your impressive hitchhiker thumb. Anyways, very nice playing.
My teacher said classic is harder right?
If you’re teacher is older, he may have thought that to be true from traditional Flamenco vs Classical music. But don’t think we can say that anymore. Too general of a statement
Can i be called a spanish guitarist if i know all 3 lol
That’s it, you’re officially part of the club 😉
@@DavidChiriboga let's go
What about Spanish romance?
Of course, I included that one in my top 5 video as well.
I think I would like to make a small change. Rumba must be added
Oh for sure, there’s many more to add… 😅 Just wanted to choose three random pieces, varying in technical levels, that I typically hear.
@@DavidChiriboga yep
Asturias God
😉
All are classical Spanish pieces.. which i have learnt and played..what about flamenco guitar
That would be a good idea for another video. I think I’m general, the Spanish classical classics are typically more widely known to diverse audiences. I will have to think about a good Flamenco list 😉
