I am a New York born and bred Italian. My grandmother came from Baranello Italy, providence Campobosso. In 2005 l move to Kentucky from NY. I grew up in a predominantly Italian area, Rome, Utica, Oneida, Syracuse area home of some really great Italian food. Being in Kentucky it is hard to find homegrown Italian food so I have had to learn how to make, sauce, sausage, bread, and other things I remember. My wife and I now host an authentic Italian dinner for our friends and neighbors once a month. Thanks to your channel we were able to serve your rustic Italian bread for our New Years day gathering! Homemade sweet sausage, hot sausage, meatballs, sauce and three different kinds of Italian bread! Good times, good wine, great food. Grazie!

@@JessicaJLandi Yes I love bread making the only challenge with bread making for me is knowing how long to microwave the water so that the yeast properly activates as we all know if the temperature of the water isn't exactly correct the yeast won't activate and thus you can't go any further with making the bread

They took foods like calamari, (for example) and made it delicious. Americans didn’t eat foods like that because they used calamari as bate. Now you pay for it in restaurants.
An Italian place my wife and I go to serves this before the meal. We usually get two baskets. My wife says don’t fill up on bread. It wouldn’t matter. You get enough food for leftovers. It’s like two meals in one. And the deserts are out of this world.

I notice as the mixer is going some time lapse happens - are you adding any water or scraping then starting the mixer again - my dough did not incorporate together well with the hook I’m a novice so just trying to follow exactly Thank you!
For my oven, 450• was too hot. I only baked it for 30 minutes but I should have checked it at 25. It’s extra brown but I did add some butter to the top before baking which you didn’t say to do, so maybe that’s why? It just came out of the oven so I’ll have to wait to taste it.

I found with the pizza dough changing the speed after the first two to four minutes to go faster made it look like your pizza dough and easier to handle and work with. Well, my bread is darker than yours but not over brown. The crust is crispy like you described and the taste is delicious! I also made the dipping sauce. Great recipe guys!
I made homemade butter yesterday so I am going to make this bread tomorrow to go with my homemade meatballs that I made 2 weeks ago that I took out of the freezer today! I'll let you know how I did.

I think the next time I make butter I will add roasted garlic. We moved to Florida 14 years ago and it's hard to find a restaurant that makes good bread.
Hey Imma gonna bother you one more time lol, you left your dough in the mixer bowl covered up for 2.5 hours but when you brought it out it was in a different clear bowl and was wondering when you transferred it and how long. I myself am Brooklyn born and breed….first Ridgewood/ Glendale (41-55) then Greenpoint (55-65) With 6 years donated to the USMC ( 59-65)…..I’m retired from. Da Job and for the last 25Yrs residing on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.. The area is really hurting for good MOM and Pop family restaurants….. Dat hurts but what hurts even more is the stuff they call bread….. totally tasteless……..unless you find a rare good quality place.. They put…… Ole Bay ….on everything down here……..personally I hate the stuff … it kills you flavor buds…. Any way…… recently celebrated a milestone birthday and when the kids(all three of whom still reside on the Island asked me what it was I wanted… I asked them to treat the whole family to a delicious Family Served dinner at a restaurant that was around in my childhood days (1940"s)and still is owned and operated by the same family…. Namely Bamonti’s 32 Wither ST, in da Garden Spot …..the place is still phenomenal. I know well, its legendary reputation and do remember that there was a time when the front two tables as you walked were reserved no matter what time you got there. Congrats on your 1000th! Ok, now a question: You placed this bread mix mound on top of the sheet- does it NEED to be in an open space like that? Would it not rise/cook well in a bread pan? Or does it need to baked with no sides touching it? I can't wait to try this bread!
I had Bread Flour in the pantry and tried using it. Using the same measurements, it didn't come out of the mixer as wet as yours. Does Bread Flour absorb more water than standard all purpose flour?

@@marylucey5983 The water temp should be 110-120 farenheit. I use an intant read thermometer I got on Amazon for less than $20.

Unfortunately, we haven’t done very much experimenting with gluten-free products. Will have to make a few test runs before we make this type of dough.

How do you properly store this bread? Before and after cutting. Thank you.
Before cutting, place the bread on a cooling rack. If you have any leftover bread, just placed in a Ziploc baggie.

Gonna try making bread your way. I'm new to baking bread and have made the mistake.of knocking it down and kneeding it before baking. I got a brick! Lol As a kid we had relatives with a Sicilian bakery and I never watched them make bread so I lost a good opportunity. I'm subbing and am looking forward to seeing your other videos.

I myself am Brooklyn born and breed….first Ridgewood/ Glendale (41-55) then Greenpoint (55-65) With 6 years donated to the USMC ( 59-65)…..I’m retired from. Da Job and for the last 25Yrs residing on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.. The area is really hurting for good MOM and Pop family restaurants….. Dat hurts but what hurts even more is the stuff they call bread….. totally tasteless……..unless you find a rare good quality place.. They put…… Ole Bay ….on everything down here……..personally I hate the stuff … it kills you flavor buds…. Any way…… recently celebrated a milestone birthday and when the kids(all three of whom still reside on the Island asked me what it was I wanted… I asked them to treat the whole family to a delicious Family Served dinner at a restaurant that was around in my childhood days (1940"s)and still is owned and operated by the same family…. Namely Bamonti’s 32 Wither ST, in da Garden Spot …..the place is still phenomenal. I know well, its legendary reputation and do remember that there was a time when the front two tables as you walked were reserved no matter what time you got there. Needless to say, the place no longer reserves the front two tables but the food is still I the same…thanks to Nichole and Peter …….LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING MORE OF YOU TWO GUYS …. Congrats on your 1000th! Ok, now a question: You placed this bread mix mound on top of the sheet- does it NEED to be in an open space like that? Would it not rise/cook well in a bread pan? Or does it need to baked with no sides touching it? I can't wait to try this bread!
Thanks Tammy! I’ve never used a bread pan before. I think the bread wouldn’t have the same crust using that type of pan.

The stainless steel bowl was from the Kitchen-Aid mixer and then placed into a glass bowl. Video magic.

I had Bread Flour in the pantry and tried using it. Using the same measurements, it didn't come out of the mixer as wet as yours. Does Bread Flour absorb more water than standard all purpose flour?
I don’t think so. A tablespoon of more or less can make a difference. You can also adjust it while it’s mixing.
My bread wasn’t totally cooked in the middle but the crust was brown what did I do wrong
Seems like the oven was a little too hot.
