I definitely lost my hair slower when using minoxidil than without. Minoxidil increases how long each hair's lifecycle is. The slower they fall out, the slower you get to a point where they no longer get replaced. The slower you get to them being slightly thinner each generation. It doesn't attack the root cause, but it does slow progression and even add hair follicles back. ESPECIALLY if combined with microneedling. Microneedling 1x per week+daily minoxidil was something like 3x more effective in a clinical study. I've seen the pics, and it was a BIG difference subjectively. 3 months each, but the microneedling group looked at least 6 months ahead in results, based on how the 3 month minoxidil only looked. Dermastamps are better than rollers because you get puncture wounds perpendicular to the skin every time and not at angles. The roller can make scar tissue form easier, which is not the goal.
Minoxidil has a dozen debilitating side effects which are not talked about enough, or portrayed correctly to the general public. Do not use until you are certain of what you're getting yourself into. It's not a moisturiser you can apply whenever you feel like.
My hair began shedding significantly after an extremely stressful time I went through. Consequently, I researched the internet & opted to experiment with the litttleextra coocoonion hair oil and a comb made of neem wood. The results truly worked. Now, I have long, thick, black hair that has reached my waist and cut off three times since I started. Easy & effective. Also, equally good is massaging your scalp - it stimulates the growth. You only need to do this weekly. Before long, you will see new hair starting to grow.
Bought the Cocooonion shampoo for dealing with hair fall and dandruff problems. My scalp used to feel uncomfortable and dry and flaky. I was annoyed due to the dandruff. After a lot of research, I eventually decided to give it out. After the first couple of washes, I observed my hair felt more manageable and my scalp was more comfortable. Typically shampoo two times a week and in two days, the dandruff would reappear. Yet after using this shampoo, this didn’t happen. I decided to continue using this shampoo and see the results. That's the thing, minoxidil is great for any hair loss not caused by AGA/MPB. It's also worth noting that increasing blood flow to the scalp with other substances or tools is shown to flush DHT, though of course finasteride's potency in curlbing DHT is unchallenged by anything else.

And i will never recommend finasteride for its effects on blood lipid profile, depression and sexual changes. You need to be careful on minox too though. If you are sensitive to it, like I am, you need to regulate dosage or otherwise risk issues with heart such as LVH.
Side effects of Finasteride (not "Finestride"): Common side effects include sexual dysfunction, such as reduced libido, erectile dysfunction, or ejaculatory disorders. Some men also experience breast tenderness or enlargement. These side effects are generally reversible upon discontinuation of the medication. No thanks.
Typically what minoxidil does from a practical stand point is it will give you a few more hairs than you had before. So if you’re thinning, this will definitely help. You will NEVER grow a significant amount of hair from minoxidil.
I find Huberman to be incredibly annoying whenever I see his videos pop up. There have been several instances where he posts a video on a topic he has little to no expertise in and just blurts out random information with a confident face and people eat it up.
Minoxidil is applied locally only so it makes no difference to your system. If you take Minoxidil pills you're an idiot. This will cause all kinds of side effects for no additional benefits.
No, it’s really bad for having hair, elasticity of your arteries, slowing skin aging, stopping enlarged prostates and prostate cancers, improving cognitive health, healing faster, lowering inflammation, and decreasing chances of dying from illnesses.

Does Minoxidil only work for people who going through a hard time that make them losing hair and not because of genetics ? Both my parents have kind of thin hair and at 30yo I started to lose hair, will using Minoxidil prevent it or slow down the rate ?
I've been using minoxidil for almost 4 years. Can I switch minoxidil with something else that can increase scalp blood flow like once a week micro needling or scalp massage everyday. I experienced great results with minoxidil but It also causes dandruff on my scalp. I don't want to replace it with oral minoxidil because of the potential side effects.
They are both very different and no replacement for each other. Finasteride is a DHT blocker, which is the hormone that causes your hair loss. It doesn't help regrowth in the sense that it promotes it, it helps it in the sense that it partially or fully stops your hair loss and allows hair growth to overtake hair loss. Minoxidil on the other hand promotes hair growth. It has no effect on your DHT levels, it does not reduce your hair loss, but allows for more and stronger hair to growth. In combination with microneedling maybe even reactivate follicles that were dysfunctional and "revive" them. Minoxidil in its topical form is very mild on side effects and even in its topical form its side effects are not as severe as Finasteride's. But again, you cannot replace Finasteride with Minoxidil. They do entirely different things. Ask your dermatologist about the aggression of your hair loss.
There’s a reason why the body has evolved to to turn testosterone into DHT. There will obviously be effects on normal male function if that process is messed around with
What about for beard growth? Ive heard that if you take it long enough then the beard hairs will become terminal and then you wont have to keep taking it(minox) but i dont know how true that is Edit - okay so there's a video of a doctor saying why you shouldn't take it for beard growth and there are multiple comments saying that they took it for a couple of years, got a full beard, and stopped applying it and still kept the beard. That video I'm talking about is by "Dr. Dray"
Sounds like the surgeon is saying this because he wants people to come to his clinic and do the hair transplant instead. I've never used this product, but there is tons of evidence out there from various doctors and people who have tried it to prove Huberman.
I think finasteride is a good drug, but you’re only 17, so it’s a little difficult to say. Minoxidil will hold you over until you’re 18 or older, but make sure you’re done with puberty first. Finasteride is safe but DHT is a little important during puberty, afterwards it is fine and beneficial to inhibit it
I recently started taking minoxidil for my hereditary hair loss. I find the side effects bearable. However, I wouldn't use Finsterid, the side effects are too extreme for me. I believe that you can achieve a lot by changing your diet. because the human body is also a natural product. Foods like green tea, coconut oil, amla powder, pumpkin seed oil naturally block dht or ensure a proper balance of dht hormones. It's better to take the route that takes a little longer than to have any side effects in the purchase that could perhaps be permanent.
But they didnt create finestride for women to take. I am tired of Many of these products were really created for men as if women dont have hair loss issues. It's more accepted for men to lose their hair than women who are shamed and mocked for it

It CAN cause sexual problems, that is very rare however and can in many instances be mitigated by titration. Your impotence could just as likely have been caused the nocebo effect, because you went into thinking the worst thoughts and stressing out.@@nikhilbhat402
Have heard of a few people who suffered from Post Finasteride syndrome. Worth looking into before you start taking this. It’s been awful for the guys I know who have suffered from this condition. Proceed with caution.
Can you elaborate
@@strangerthings88 absolutely! Google please. Basically loss of sexual function in males, brain fog, depression as a result of taking finasteride for 1.5 years. Once you stop the drug, the issues don’t go away immediately and for some I’ve read about they don’t ever resolve.
@@lisatodd6607 okay now i'd rather go bald
@@harshvardhansingh1300 I get that! :)
@@lisatodd6607its not true at all. It has been proved that Post finasteride syndrome is not real.
If you have side effects from finasteride is due to hormonal imbalances such as having high estrogen, prolactin.
I like how dr. Gary is so laid-back and giving reviews with lazy energy and behaves dumb while being so informative and intelligent man.❤
Minoxidil only works on like half the hair loss population. I would know, I tried it WITH dermarolling when I was 25 and dealing with early onset hair loss and it didn’t help at all. I even went up to a high strength customized prescription of minixidil and still couldn’t stop the hair loss. I avoided propecia because of the negative side effects.
u decide on foam or liquid minox?
@@Siegfried146liquid. You must apply it on your scalp directly. Any form of pills is stupid due to the side effects.
So you shot yourself in the foot over make believe side effects made up by people who are too afraid to take a 1mg tablet and too dumb to read any literature on the drug?
I mean what was ur lifestyle like too?
Finastride has numerous side effects.
Some include; impotence, erectile dysfunction, prostate disorders and neurological illnesses.
I use Rogaine and have the best way to apply - through trial and error - buy a metal demitasse cup and saucer and keep t in the freezer. When you take it out to apply the Minoxidil, put the plastic can cap inside the cup. When you spray the foam, it will blow up higher in the cap and you will find the very last of the foam will be as firm as the first. Easy and 100 percent of the time, the foam will stay firm and if you're like me, you'll use less to cover your target areas.
Finistride absolutely fucked me up. Minoxidil has been fine tho
Yeah, it’s kinda irresponsible for him to be recommending it, especially for younger people

It's misspelled in the Video, Finasteride is correct!

idk why, but Andrew Huberman saying “so-called” before everything really pisses me off. He frequently says “so-called” before literally saying THE ESTABLISHED NAME for a scientific concept, referring to it as if it were just some colloquialism.
I love the "so-called."
do finastirede if you want to have high rate of being impotent fat and no energy
Minoxidil is bad for business.. Right doc?
why would that be? Finasteride is far more effective.. why would he recommend Finasteride then, instead of Minoxidil?

I used just one month so much shedding plus heart pump fast second feel hanging
Except, Huberman is correct here. Minox 3% (3% only yes) reversed my hair loss, not merely stop it. And i will never recommend finasteride for its effects on blood lipid profile, depression and sexual changes.
You need to be careful on minox too though. If you are sensitive to it, like I am, you need to regulate dosage or otherwise risk issues with heart such as LVH.
But minox topical over pills all day! I dislike that indication by Huberman's video.
No thanks.
So tell us about Finestride, please, and why you recommend it, if it makes us equally pharma-dependent.
Fenestride is deadly, the ammount of complaints over side Effekts are appaling, especially immiture errection etc...
How do I get finasteride? Do I ask my primary doctor to prescribe to me or can I buy it online?
If your hair loss is due to stress, stopping minoxidil will not bring shedding of hair again.
what about women? what do you recommend for women with thinning hair and hair loss?
Minoxidil did not work for me,It irritated my scalp leaving a burning sensation. I have dry scalp.
Is it true that if you use minoxidil for beard growth you have to use it forever to keep the beard.
I have heard minoxidil makes your hair fall out worse if you stop taking it. Scary stuff. What are the side effects?
It may accelerate the hair replacement cycle from what I’ve heard, but returns to normal after
Typically what minoxidil does from a practical stand point is it will give you a few more hairs than you had before.
But isnt that the same?, once stopping finasteride means losing hair again?
I thought finasteride is horrible for your body 💀
Isn’t blocking DHT really bad for sexual health?
Minoxidil is applied locally only so it makes no difference to your system. If you take Minoxidil pills you're an idiot. This will cause all kinds of side effects for no additional benefits.
No, it’s really bad for having hair, elasticity of your arteries, slowing skin aging, stopping enlarged prostates and prostate cancers, improving cognitive health, healing faster, lowering inflammation, and decreasing chances of dying from illnesses.
@@god8348 should have typed that message more coherently. Are you saying blocking DHT has those benefits or the total opposite?
What about hydrolyzed collagen supplements, doesn't it have the same effect as minoxidil? Aka, slowing down the rate of hair fall?
Does this also work for more hair on ur weener?
I don't mind. Low libido I already have, because of other medication. If this means I can keep my hair, I can do it.
Is it true that if you use minox those hairs will become dependent on it?. Therefore, better not to start it?
Dr. What do you think of microneedling with PRP for hair loss?
I heard from a hair restoration specialist that it doesn't do anything for the hair follicles. They do use it for patients but not for that.
what about using for beard hair growth? ive seen a bunch of videos of people using minoxidil and they grew terminal hairs. So does this mean if you cut terminal facial hair that was grown using minoxidil, it will not grow back?
POV: this guy used minoxidil and shedded 100% of his hair
Is that true cis I'm using minoxidil should I stop using it?
i’ve been loosing my hair for a while, started minoxidil and every time i use it i have weird sensations on my body and in my chest and head, my heart rate also goes up by a little i think and i can’t really think straight, should i be worried?
Yes, if you experience ed or low libido stop immediately.
stop using it, talk to doc
You have to be on finasteride forever too... also, finasteride will hold the hair you've gained with minoxidil.
Can you do video on differences between manoxidil and the med you mentioned? Pros and cons of each? Which one is safer for people on hypothyroid meds?
Do not take finasteride ~Your future self
What is your suggestion for perimenopausal women who cannot take finasteride?

Do you have to stay on finasteride?
Do you have wash your hair daily if you use foam minoxidil
Does finasteride work for post op trans women?
Finasteride scares the crap out of me. The number of claims of PFS is shocking and thr effects are beyond disturbing
There’s a reason why the body has evolved to to turn testosterone into DHT. There will obviously be effects on normal male function if that process is messed around with
Ok, but finasterid is also forever, right?
What about for ladies? What is the better alternative?
There is also minoxidile for women. Its a lower dosage than for men I think. Stay away from pills like finastaride
I like your eyebrows!
What about for beard growth? Ive heard that if you take it long enough then the beard hairs will become terminal and then you wont have to keep taking it(minox) but i dont know how true that is
Edit - okay so there's a video of a doctor saying why you shouldn't take it for beard growth and there are multiple comments saying that they took it for a couple of years, got a full beard, and stopped applying it and still kept the beard. That video I'm talking about is by "Dr. Dray"
What about Redensyl ? And mixing them ?
Sounds like the surgeon is saying this because he wants people to come to his clinic and do the hair transplant instead. I've never used this product, but there is tons of evidence out there from various doctors and people who have tried it to prove Huberman.

I'm 17 can I use finasteride
i already started minoxidil two weeks ago
dont use finasteride - too many side effects
Same ! Can u now say how far it has worked for you ?
I think finasteride is a good drug, but you’re only 17, so it’s a little difficult to say. Minoxidil will hold you over until you’re 18 or older, but make sure you’re done with puberty first. Finasteride is safe but DHT is a little important during puberty, afterwards it is fine and beneficial to inhibit it
What about if we want to have a kid soon
What is so-called minoxidil
I was correcting Huberman but all my comments were getting deleted.
This dr talked like eminem, my trust level is increased
What about something like topical minoxidil?
I recently started taking minoxidil for my hereditary hair loss. I find the side effects bearable. However, I wouldn't use Finsterid, the side effects are too extreme for me. I believe that you can achieve a lot by changing your diet. because the human body is also a natural product. Foods like green tea, coconut oil, amla powder, pumpkin seed oil naturally block dht or ensure a proper balance of dht hormones. It's better to take the route that takes a little longer than to have any side effects in the purchase that could perhaps be permanent.
I've got a round scar on my crown of my head 2inch so would this help me grow the hair back in that place or I'm I just wasting my time ???
