I agree. It's kind of a dick move considering how careful defensive players have to be now. They're coming to a stop in an attempt not to hit you and then you're taking advantage of it. They're kinda in a no win situation. Legal but a petty use of skirting around the rules.
Completely agree. Anything that preys on someone being thoughtful and not wanting to absolutely destroy you to trick them and make them look stupid at least borders on unsportsmanlike behavior even if it's technically legal.
they added a rule prohibiting that within a week of that play lmao. if i remember correctly you are now marked down where you faked and the play is blown dead
BS rule? Maybe. BS call? Absolutely not. Whether or not the rule is "good", you've gotta follow it, and he didn't. Break the rules, get a penalty. Simple as that.
THat Purdue touch down should have been called back. At 7:08 a Purdue guy hits a Michigan guy from behind and held him . The official was right there .
The last clip, i was told it is not allowed to make a forward throw once the ball is thrown or tossed by the QB.. (not an American but a foreign learning fan of the sport)
There are little nuances. As long as it's backwards and behind the line of scrimmage you can do a forward pass. Or if it is handed off and they have not got past the line of scrimmage.
several misses by the refs here. 1:55 when the Villanova upback touches the ball to the ground, it becomes dead at that point and the play is over - unlike the old fumblerooskie play, he still has possession when the ball touches the ground. Also at 3:30, the Michigan right TE clearly blocks the Illinois DB #24 which is blatant OPI (not a "rub route")
seriously as comments say the fact a qb would celebrate a td like that by cheating the system is so disrespectful. Considering the rules in place that protect the qb the moment he shows slide and knowing no one could touch him cause if they did flag they didnt he gets to keep running lose lose for a defense. Rather he have been laid out and defense got a flag and it even out by the qb getting an unsportsmanlike conduct flag 😂 yes i know he wouldnt of
Yeah, easy to hide those dinky little NFL balls. Try hiding one of the old CFL balls that were the size of a Volkswagen. No I'm kidding. Love these trick plays.
4:59 bruh that's fucked up "Hide the midget" The dude is 5 ft 9, literally avg male height for the US lmao. Plus using "midget" as a word in a professional casting, the fuck?
1:35 So, seattle seahawks player just got fined 12K$$$$$$$ because he takled the QB thinking he had the ball hidden. this play proves that fine is EFFED UP. QB'S do sneaky shit like this so why was he fined i call BS on the NFL. This play PROVES IT.
The very first one is BS. Pickett should have been whistled down and there should be a penalty against qb’s who pull that crap. The same penalty as returners who call a fair catch then run the ball. It’s bad enough they already quarterbacks not football players anymore but now they let them use the pussy rules like that? Pat Mahomes did the same thing in a game 2-3 years ago. The defense has to back off, the qb should be ruled down or out of bounds, whichever the case. The refs dropped the ball on this one. As soon as he started his slide the whistle should have blown
is it in college football where u can toss it to someone and then still throw it? i would think thats like an illegal frontward pass. im guessing since they didnt pass the line of scrimmage? i never seen a play like that in the NFL
that’s legal in all forms of football, if the ball never goes past the line of scrimmage and is never thrown forward the player who receives the ball can throw it
As long as there's only one _forward_ pass and it's thrown from behind the line of scrimmage it's okay. You can do all sorts of handoffs and/or laterals, but only one pass per play can be thrown forward, and the thrower has to be behind the line of scrimmage when doing so.
Love your vids keep them coming
4:10 is one of my favorite plays of all time with such a great camera angle, and the way no one rushes the punter..not an LSU fan at all either lol
Purdue falling for the same trick twice...peak Boilermaker right there!
That Kentucky kicker got some wheels!
Crazy, maybe he played soccer growing up
I think faking a knee/slide/fair catch are all far more unsportsmanlike than doing a little strut into the endzone
I agree. It's kind of a dick move considering how careful defensive players have to be now. They're coming to a stop in an attempt not to hit you and then you're taking advantage of it. They're kinda in a no win situation. Legal but a petty use of skirting around the rules.
less than a week after pickett did it the NCAA banned it
Completely agree. Anything that preys on someone being thoughtful and not wanting to absolutely destroy you to trick them and make them look stupid at least borders on unsportsmanlike behavior even if it's technically legal.
it was dumb that the league didn't have a rule against it. the QB exposed the flaw brilliantly, and now they have amended the rule book.
@@davey9090 just like the defense hitting a sliding player it should be a 15 yard penalty for faking it
Fakeing a slide should be a penalty with as easy def is called for hitting when they do
Nah bruh I think it’s clean
I agree w/ this it's really not fair cuz if the defense goes for you after you start your slide they're fucked...
It’s is a penalty now
The rules were changed like that week. I don't remember if it is a penalty or they count it as a slide and mark the ball at that location.
they added a rule prohibiting that within a week of that play lmao. if i remember correctly you are now marked down where you faked and the play is blown dead
0:56 bro was just standing there waiting for the ball 😂
Some serious big brain plays in there
0:49 I can't stand Florida, but that touchdown just standing there in the end zone was ice cold
never thought i'd see w&m make any of these types of videos. roll tribe baby!!!!
Hide the midget would be a crazy call from announcers nowadays.
The "unsportsmanlike" conduct call was BS. dude is celebrating. defenders should've worked harder.
literally. if he gets tackled while celebrating it's his fault so why cant he celebrate
Celebrate after you score. Don't be Leon Lett. Good penalty. Humble these ego's early and often.
BS rule? Maybe. BS call? Absolutely not. Whether or not the rule is "good", you've gotta follow it, and he didn't. Break the rules, get a penalty. Simple as that.
Just don't celebrate like a fucking clown?? It's not hard, you don't need to gwiddy because you were able to hold on to your balls while running.
I’m still salty about that call a decade later… 😒
Love watching this
The penalty for celebrating before a touchdown is BULL$HIT. 🙄🙄🙄
10:00 inspired the Philly Special in the Super Bowl. 💪
Really liked this one.
0:39 we need this announcer in the NFL

faking a slide should be illegal because if he starts that motion and gets hit, its then a personal foul.
Faking the slide should have been a penalty…cannot deny that
intro goes BRAZY
all that's missing is the ad-lib... "i believe in HIGHLIGHT REEL"
The Oregon one was my favorite that dude sold that so hard. Shrader with the TWO'fer
10:00 why are they on the 3 yard line for a 2 point conversion?
Wouldn't the villanova/bc one be a dead ball after putting it on the ground?
Let’s gooooooo
0:40 I would absolutely decleat that QB the next time he tries to slide.
5:54 - They're lucky they didn't call the qb for illegal shift when he moved forward after the set.
That was a legal play, have you not seen the "Philly Special?"
THat Purdue touch down should have been called back. At 7:08 a Purdue guy hits a Michigan guy from behind and held him . The official was right there .
When is the clemson QB td reception from? Its the same play as the philly special im wondering which inspired which
These are some brilliant plays, but some were wasted on 2-point conversions.
Basically "quarterbacks abusing protections"
The last clip, i was told it is not allowed to make a forward throw once the ball is thrown or tossed by the QB.. (not an American but a foreign learning fan of the sport)

Once past the line of scrimmage you can still throw the battle but it has to be backwards which is called a lateral

@6:10 the QB and RB are both in motion, then RB gets set but the QB never does... I think that's a penalty.
That play was legal, have you not seen the "Philly Special?"
@bonniethebunny7018 the difference is, on the Philly Special, both RB & QB, after the shift, get set again.
Keagan Brewer is mvp for this
On the 16th, yay
taunting should not nullify a touchdown that rule is bs hope it is gone
Kenny pocket #1
"Unsportsmanlike Conduct" is such a stupid concept and the opposite of how people see the U.S. of A.
Yeah, faking a slide will get a QB wrecked the next time and whoever does it will think their ejection worth it.
Faking should NOT be penalty. A lot of “trick plays” are designed. If you get tricked on a play, you might want to avoid watching it on replay.

wow
If you are faking slides, I would expect to eventually actually slide and get clobbered...

he did not i refuse to believe that man slide canceled no
That personal foul NEGATING A TOUCHDOWN for celebrating on the way into the endzone was BS... FFS
Why is Kentucky’s kicker so fast
The NCAA updated the dead-ball slide rule literally because of this first play. You can't do that now, rightfully so. It's a dick move.
Yeah, easy to hide those dinky little NFL balls. Try hiding one of the old CFL balls that were the size of a Volkswagen. No I'm kidding. Love these trick plays.
Lol qb fakes a slide and then wonders why he gets hit hard the next time he runs
'taunting' is an illegal thing? really?? ffs, what a ridiculous game - suck it up and tackle him, or shut up...

College "football" is mostly a joke on tv...bets aside.
The scUM line play was not a trick. It was stupid.
Remember; In the sport of football the name of the game is DECEPTION.
