VF is the only fighting game where I get a rush side-stepping...and it feels like an actual fleshed-out mechanic.

Yeah, glad I managed to archive it at 1080p60 and, IMO, there's no reason why archived VF footage should be anything less than 720p60! For some reason, the gamenewton channel's upload is only 360p!
This was fun to watch! I liked that they were using a variety of characters.

Anyone else bugged by the fact that the camera is on the WRONG SIDE?! Haha :D Amazing gameplay.
You don't see that many Virtua Fighter tournaments. It's always Street Fighter, Tekken, Dead or Alive, Marvel vs Capcom, King of Fighters and vice versa.
There's a surprising number of tournaments for VF always happening, they just don't get the same level of exposure as other titles unfortunately. Check out this round-up of events slated for 2019 as an example: virtuafighter.com/threads/virtua-fighter-tournament-round-up-2019.21193/

I think it's better than, having watched some Evo footage just before this, the "podcast" style of anecdotes and theorizing mid-match. More interesting to have commentar on what's going on than mid-match seminars on game mechanics.

The scene for this in Japan seems bigger than Tekken.
That's because Tekken is especially popular in South Korea.
@@ArpeggioPegasusMusic Not sure OP's assessment is true. It is impressive VF still has a a huge turnout at tournaments in Japan ( Beat-Tribe is actually the biggest VF tournament in the world) but Tekken had a similar event - the Mastercup. This year's Mastercup had up to 264 teams (1320 entrants).
I think it's much better than Tekken as far as animation and controls.
I’ve been to japan in 2008 or 2009, while Tekken 6 and VF5 were pretty recent games, and while most arcades had 2-4 Tekken machines, VF heavily outnumbered it. Club Sega Akihabara had literally a whole floor of VF machines and it was packed every time I went inside.
