The first time I heard Martirio I started to cry. My mother and her side of the family all spoke Spanish. When my mother passed away three years ago Spanish is longer heard in the house. Martirio made me realize how much we lost. The lyrics fit my mother’s character, her inner strength and the courage she had to raise five kids almost by herself, as my dad worked overseas most of their married life. When Dany lets out that haunting wail at the end, I just break down, in the music video I see mom in Dany during the haunting wail. I miss mom so much. I have started teaching my son Spanish. He sings with me when I struggle to play Martirio on the guitar. Martirio has become my most loved song of The Warning.

Such a beautiful song in any language because music is the language.
The part that always gets me is that Pau seems to be fighting back absolute tears of joy especially performing this song to a Spanish speaking audience that is just completely into it.
I think there is a reason that Narcisista and Martirio have preceded Evolve as the show closers for much of their recent tour.
I’d imagine we’ll get at least one more Spanish language song on TW4.
I have looked up the English translation of the lyrics as well and I prefer to listen as presented.
I know what the meaning of the song is and I love imagining that meaning as the song is played both in live and OMV renditions.
Epic is the only word worthy of description!

Spanish, English, French, Japanese, it doesn't matter, The Warning will touch you with their performance no matter the language. Even if I didn't understand a word, this song is a powerful anthem. If you look closely, when they show a closeup of Pau near the end of the song, you can see that she has tears in her eyes. The reception they received from their fans at these shows in Mexico City touched them all, but Pau was the most affected. There is a video of her breaking down in tears on Ale's shoulder after the show and Ale comforting her. It is another example of how honest, humble, and caring these young women are, for each other, for the fans, and for the music. Thank you for another wonderful reaction.

Red, words can hardly describe the feeling of being in a crowd in their home country when they close the show with this song. This past October, 8000 of us were singing our lungs out in Mexico City. Not a voice left in the crowd. Not a dry eye either. What an ending. They have a special gift of communication and connection with their audience. Yeah, you get it. We are all hoping for a North American tour in the fall. Go if you can.

Greetings, I’ve heard Martirio many, many times and it IS my favorite song. There’s been a couple of male reactors that have teared up at the end of this amazing song.
By the way, Martirio translated means martyrdom, but in this song it means “misery”!
How can three beautiful young ladies come up with so much feeling, talent, expression, emotion and fully display it with a guitar, a bass, drums and their voices?
When you mentioned The Beatles in another reaction, the song “Magical Mystery Tour” popped in my head and this is exactly what The Warning is taking us on!

The Thunder Child, The Heartbeat, and The Rock Star. Talent, passion, intelligence, beauty, stage presence, these ladies have it all. They own the stage, feed off the crowd, and give every ounce they have during their shows. Ale lays down bass lines you could surf on, Pau beats the drum kit like it stole something, and Dany has the voice of an angel and the guitar licks to match. What a future this band has.

Musically, that outro starts with Ale playing a 6th - DPA do know their music theory - which immediately sounds unsettling, in search of a resolution. Ale & Pau singing the oh oh oh ohs (rooted in the tonic) and the audience joining in, is what brings it all together, providing the musical resolution (and satisfaction). Dany's next-level vocal & solo (both beginning on the tonic) then take us to new musical and emotional heights.
All told, that outro shows how these sisters' ingenious musical composition skills can elicit the emotional responses we feel.

I've run out of adjectives a long time. You better go back and listen again. I've probably oversimplified the lyrics but I haven't been corrected so far. I see it as a call out to NOT live your life like a martyr. To rise above your circumstances and create your own fate. Something like that. It's an empowering anthem, in my mind, There are some lines in the direct translation about "accepting your fate." But the general message I take is they mean the opposite. Martirio may have been the first song they finished composing for what was to become the Error album. Can't state that for a fact, but it was at least one of the first few. They performed it live for the first time in Argentina in 2019. And though they modified the arrangement of the song a bit after that, it was basically the same song you hear here.

What an amazing song and I consider this to be a certified rock anthem. One of my favorite songs by them, if not my favorite. Now you must react to their only other song in Spanish which is Narcisista from this same concert. It was the last song before the encore and Martirio was the first song in the encore, so basically they played two Spanish songs back to back even though there is a little break in between. Love your reaction and all the feelings you have during the reaction. Most of TWA if not all feel the exact same way.

Great reaction Red. TW have many great songs, but this is my favorite, it's just full of emotion. You can see Paulina with happy tears because of the crowd just singing along with them, cheers.

Do the music vid too. I think it helps convey even more of the meaning and is really beautiful.
Oh, and here's a tip to help enjoy the poetry of this song in Spanish: Pull up the lyrics in Spanish and English and give it a listen. I speak a little Spanish so it's a bit easier, but I think when you can really hear how they use language, how it actually sounds on the ear, it adds something to the feeling here.

There is a fan recorded video from this song, done at a famous small venue at Montreal where Nirvana played when they were going big, and it is really great. It is shot from the side where you can see Pau perfect intricated drumming + Dany comanding the stage with her rockstar presence. Funny that in other video from the show, some fans were kind of having fun at the initial sound problems TW was having, but had no idea what the were about to witness. In this song almost by the end of the show, you can tell the awe and the blast they were experiencing. Very clear sound in that video.

Even though my grasp of Spanish is limited at best, this is one of my favorite The Warning songs! This song proves that a great song is a great song, regardless of the language it is written in!

I do not speak spanish and this song is kind of emotional for me (and i aint afraid to admit it) for an unknown reason. At the end when Dany does her wail, go back and listen to her voice crack, ughh, right in the feels for me. Great job Neighbor

I absolutely love the two Spanish songs they've produced so far. While I have to rely on a Spanish-to-English translator that may not be accurate, the music and the performance are the universal language that conveys what the song is about so well. I hope they continue the trend they started with Martirio of including a Spanish song on their forthcoming and future albums.
