What Do You Think? How Do You Feel?
Composed and performed by Michael Bemmels
With this piece, I notated only the tuning, pitches and rhythms in the score. The intention is that the performer is given an enormous amount of liberty to make personal interpretive decisions.
    Thank you for listening! :)

I think it's a very nice composition! I love it Michael! The beginning reminds me a little of Bach's 6th prelude for cello.

Thanks Stefan! It wasn't intentional, but now that you pointed it out I can see a bit of resemblance to Bach here and there :)

Very beautiful and sensitive composition. Not only that but your sound is very warm. I’m guessing you have a cedar top on your guitar? I could be wrong because I know a lot of classical guitarists love their spruce! Would love to hear more of your own compositions ❤

Thanks for the comment! :) Actually it's a spruce top guitar by luthier Douglass Scott. I really like the tone of it very much!

Thank you! Honestly I was getting tired of hearing people talk about music as if there is supposed to be one single "correct" way that everyone has to play it... so I wrote a piece where it would be explicitly impossible for people to talk about it that way!

Ha ha that’s refreshing to hear , I had a teacher for 5 years and dogmatic not the word, his way was the only way 😂😂(but he was a good guy and fine player)

Great composition, Michael! I've used dropped d with an f sharp for lute pieces before. This is quite intriguing! I downloaded it and will play around with it at some point. Might sound good on my Leo Brouwer strings, those are an expressive set. Keep up the good work 👍

Thanks Josh! This tuning was fun to play with, especially for 6-string chords using open strings.

@@MichaelBemmels Can't wait to try it out! By the way, I've been watching a Canadian TV show, The Murdoch Mysteries. Are you a fan too?

@@Josh.Vanjani No, I haven't watched that show actually. I've been watching the Canadian show "Hudson and Rex" lately. It's like a detective show, but rather fun and goofy with a dog being the star of the show ;)
