Golf MK8R CKD Version 1st Drive On Genting with Denyu, MD of VPCM / YS Khong Driving

- This is the first CKD Golf R in Malaysia, also the only Golf R ever assembled out of Wolfsburg, Germany, so we are very fortunate in that sense, and it is all thanks to my guest passenger of the day, Denyu, who is also the MD of VPCM.
From the time I drove the CBU version until this CKD version's introduction, there have been some upgrades, in particular the Drift mode and the Nürburgring mode.
The R performed very well, and it is a car you or your wife can take to market.

If it's one car, it could be a gamble. But both the GTI and R, it's a strategy, not a gamble. It's not cheap to do a car in any country. It costs the manufacturer a ton to do it. Especially, when the R and GTI use specialised tools compared to the standard version. That's a huge investment to do so.
nothing are gamble in business..they have a forecast, BI and others for their business. unless u are small company and trying to gamble with all u have. lol
Well despite all the caveman comments about VW and the gearbox / 'visit workshop' comments, the gti and the R are indeed in a league of their own.

Great video and well done VPCM in bringing the Mk8 Golf R to Malaysia. I had the joy of owning a 16V Golf GTI in the UK way back in 1991. Since then I have owned the Mk 6 GTI followed by the Mk 6 R. I currently drive the Mk7.5 R and I love the exhilarating performance, comfort and reliability 😊

The new system allows for a lot more torque to transfer between the rear wheels. A lot less boring than previous generations. VW and Audi heard the feedback and have responded. Uncle knows how to extract the best out of these cars.

I think both are very close. The M340i would be a bit heavier, so the extra hp needs to do that extra bit of work. The XDrive of the BM is good and so is the XDS in the Golf. Both have the same top speed, so I would say they are quite evenly matched.

Hello uncle, unrelated to the car driven in this video. I drove my old manual persona to Genting earlier and I notice there's water under my car once I reach on top. My car temperature was normal. The coolant tank was boiling. I added water, next day looks good and we drove back. My mechanic says nothing is wrong with my car, no engine oil mix or gasket leak. I wonder if you've encounter such issue driving many different cars? Was it simply because I was pushing the car and radiator had to do extra work to keep the engine cool?

Wrong, 330i is proper rear wheel drive , premium platform. This one FWD, low-cost platform from 12 years ago. Plus, M340i can be had for only slightly more. This car is unjustifiable in M'sian market.
