I was the Highway Platoon Leader in B/504 in Pleiku from May through September, '69. It was nice to see pictures of the Ace of Spades and Ho Chi's Hearse. Would have liked to have seen a picture of Prisoner of War. I'm sure there were others, but at my age, I can't remember. Much respect to those who served. You have balls the size of coconuts.
It's good to see two of the 815th Engineer Battalion guntrucks in the video: D Company's "Wild Thing" (replica built by Randy Recht), and C Company's "VC For Lunch Bunch, photographed from the side showing her "Patience My Ass" graphics. "The Bunch" later was renamed "The Roach Coach" and is shown with her new name at 3:51. I twirled the wrenches on it 47 years ago under both names. Thanks, Dick Bowman C Co 815th Engr Bn 1969-1970
You're the first guy I ever saw make a mention of LIL SURE SHOT. I was in the 805th in 71-72. I hope you see this someday even you posted it 10 years ago. geneheck2002
Well thanks for stopping by Wayne. We who served and had the balls to crew these gun trucks were young men with balls. That helped save there brothers ass when needed.. Welcome Home Dude! "It did matter after all" Rich M 512Tth TC
As a wrecker driver/operator in Nam I was always the last vehicle in a convoy. It was great having these gun trucks behind me for security. Bob Bielsky 2/35 artillery. Bn Maint.
We built a gun truck with a M113 shell in 2011. "The Colonel" was meant to be a static display vehicle for our battalion the 57th Trans Bn at Fort Lewis. We even had one of the original crew members out to see the truck. Another small fact is that one of the civilian painters at the Base repair shop was a crew member on "King Cobra", another M113 hulled guntruck. The Colonel was eventually sent to Fort Leonardwood when the 57th inactivated in 2012. It is still available for viewing at the 58th Trans Bn (which runs the Army truck driving school). To my knowledge the replica we built is the only one like it in the world with a M113 hull.
I guess it don't matter, but my old man served with the 58th in Vietnam. His name was Jack Morgan and he was a good man. He is now deceased, but he always said that he missed his brothers.
Aw yes Brian, I've met him a few times at a number of the GT reunions or gatherings before he had built an after building this gun truck bringing it to them. Thanks for stopping by though an posting.. Rich M
I remember one called the judge and one called wheat-straw and 4 or5 of the ones on this video They would blast into and threw phan rang air base in a matter of what seemed like seconds I always said a short prayer for their safety
Good video. I'd like a copy of the 'Running Bare' pix, been looking for one. Where did you find it? Saw you had some pix of a few of my models-which is fine. Please email me a copy of the RB pix, if you can. Jerry Barnes

One of these days when, I reincarnation say as a rabbit, I may be smarter an can remember more an not have this damn dyslexic shit, I've had to deal with all my life.
First off, GREAT EFFORT. But please go in and edit the title and slides - we have enough haters claiming that all grunts are uneducated dumbasses without giving them ammo. Like it or not, a lot of people will judge the whole project by one typo, much less a whole bunch throughout the entire show.
To make an long story short wish I could. I as exposed to mercury an lead paints at a very young age that, I did not ask for as child. So been stuck with the hand, I was dealt as a child... But I'd like to see your web channels. I am sure, I could fine something wrong or errors in yours...
Aw thanks I know many errors with the video but can't correct, the short song < had some friends sing it the GI's way was the Mike Day Band that were at a flea market, and they said this song is for all the Vietnam vets.

Aw yes the Iron Butterfly gun truck kind of earned a rear spot for some reason maybe because we had one less gunner crew members.
