Fantastic interview. Nick Cave has emerged into such an important figure in popular culture over the past decade. His unapologetic and genuinely curious exploration of his own dangerous/unpopular thoughts (and those of others) is something that we all need now.
Nick's music has seen me through addiction depression broken relationships broken laws incarceration from the birthday party to this current day and have seen him live in Australia numerous times what a journey it has been thank you Nick you are a true scholar and a gentleman.
As a long term fan (since Birthday Party days), I'm disappointed Nick is choosing to play in Israel. I wonder if he knows that many of the ordinary people of Israel recently protested for the right of the IDF to mistreat detainees in any way they see fit (this was after a video was leaked of them torturing and sexually assaulting Palestinian prisoners). "This is Sodom," the protesters chanted. You can hear about it via James O'Brien ruclips.net/video/09bYS01IYEM/видео.html -- most of the media has stopped reporting on all this.
Looking forward to this in the same way Nick killed it in the Stefan Sagmeister interview. And the first question, Nick Cave asks is what am I doing on this podcast? I'm happy to be here, but am I out of place here? LOL.
Thank you for this interview. I have admired his music for many years, and there's nothing quite like it. While there are echoes of Dylan in his style, his work is uniquely his own. I can really feel his distinctive touch in everything he does.
Of course he sees the world as systemically beautiful. He is a white, male, millionaire who can afford to turn a blind eye to all social injustice, including an ongoing genocide. Well done Nick.
