I found all kinds of music this year online. I love what's come out of Australia lately (back to N Cave land) Amyl and the Sniffers are a thrilling blast of Punk Rock dynamite, from England Sleaford Mods and Billy Nomates are two minimalist artists who rant against the system. Great sounds but not everybody's cup of tea. There's PJ Harvey(Nick's lady friend), Anna Calvi, Fiona Apple, really so many others. You just have to look and keep your ears open. I've been listening to the Cramps a whole lot this year! Ivy's guitar playing is up there with the best. Enjoy life, find good stuff!

I first saw this documentary on Australia's SBS Channel on the eve off Nick's 1994 Oz tour.
A brilliant documentary as Nick talks. We get a brief, but important look at The Boys Next Door through the Shivers film clip. The Boys Next Door morphed into The Birthday Party.
The Birthday Party - Australia's best ever punk band, in the post-punk era. At that time the footage shown by this doco had only seen by very few. Australian media, including our own Molly Meldrum did not play videos or even show pictures of the Birthday Party. Countdown made one live reference to The Birthday Party and that was that they had topped the Indie charts in the UK.
The doco showing the clip to Junkyard Dog from Dutch TV, where it aired live in 1983 was a touch of class by the makers of this documentary.
Many people saw the clip to Shivers for either the first time, OR, had not seen the clip since 1979 thanks to this documentary.
The documentary ends well with material from the magnificent - Let Love In - album.
The success of Let Love In catapulted Nick Cave into the mainstream and he actually made money after 15 years in the industry.!

Lol Nick is good and all, great lyrics, but he doesn’t hold a candle to The Beatles musically, nor would his music exist without them. The Beatles are the most important and best band/artists in popular music ever. Leonard Cohen is similar but much better lyrically, which is where they both shine. Dark and confessional poetry. Leonard Cohen doesn’t have any goth artifice which is cool. I prefer him. But yeah I just came to say that Nick Cave is great but he isn’t in the same league as The Beatles.

I have no doubts everybody is a person. But some people seem to intentionally diminish/belittle their properties as human being, flesh and blood. Oddly enough, I'm (and have been) a Nick Cave's fan even though having had plenty of mixed emotions as for his behaviour etc. To be someone work's fan is one thing and being uncritical is something completely else. Anyway, I do feel much more comfortable now, since I know the person who I apreciate and respect a lot is... a person, so said.

Still pretty weird to know Nick lived and drinked near my old house in Brazil. So weird he sitting on a boteco's table in the side walk drinking Antarctica beer.
