The amazing thing about James, is that he had this awful, terrible experience, but he chose to make good with his life, even though so many that are brought up like this, choose to go down wrong paths
I happen to have been raised Latter Day Saint however they are against gay people out here and as a little kid at our boy scout meeting they told us to remind our parents to vote against gay marriage. I know so many people that aren’t straight and they are amazing people and I’m happy to have them in my life. That is one of the main reasons I left the church and have yet to return. Never got my Arrow of light or my eagle lol should have stayed but literally one of the most controlling religions I have experienced aside from the j.w’s
I think in life we all lose belief but someway we always find God back into our lives. It’s not that God left we just stop believing. The reality of life we get stuck in a rut and believe things should be one way just because. I’m 52 and I found god back into my life. I’m just trying to find my purpose with God. My heartbreaks for you but you waking up each day gives you hope. Continued prayers for peace and just know you may not be loved by the people that brought you in this world but you are always loved by GOD❤️
James you are an inspiration, and your music is motivating and uplifting to me and my family. Please keep doing what makes you happy and ignore the complainers. Your music reaches people that need to hear what you have to say, and we Thank you for it and what you have gone through to accomplish it. I am LDS but your music is uplifting to all !
This song is incredible, it is not only the melody and flow, but the message, this song is pure light and hope. Thank you for continuing to be the gift and light that you are JTM.
I appreciate your transparency. Your sufferings as a child help others know they are not alone, and bring them hope! Thank you...I promote your music whenever I get the chance!
This is one of my favorites. This has an amazing message. I'm happy James survived all that so that he could become the person we all love today. Keep doing what you're doing James!
Damn, strong message. I'm sorry you went through that, glad you're here today to release fire like this now. You've come a long way and I know you'll continue to find new heights. You deserve recognition. Keep doing what you doing, James.
First off, I just want to thank you for sharing your talent with us through music. I have many family members who have, and are still pursuing a career doing music so I understand the hardships that accompany that path. I know that you’ve been blessed with the ability to paint pictures through your words. I’ve enjoyed so many of your songs, and I can say whole heartedly that you’re pure amazing. This was confirmed when you spoke at a fireside in my home stake in the bay area. You shared personal experiences in your past life like how you overcame adversity. It really touched a lot of our youth, and I want to thank you. I hope you never stop telling your story. Just know no matter where you go with your career after this album, you’ll always have a true Tongan fan here in the bay area. This song is top of my list. I can almost feel the pain that you felt. I love how honest you are about what happened to you, and that you’re willing to share with us. What resonated most with me, is that when others hurt me in any way, I use to think that just distancing myself from them would make everything better. Obviously the Christlike thing to do is forgive, but it’s something that Ive struggled with. Im not perfect, but I try to be more intentional now when I forgive others. I hope that one day you can forgive your parents for what they’ve done. Its what Christ would do, and I know that in the end, you’d feel weight lifted and a greater peace will come into your life. Keep up the great work. PLEASE DON’T STOP MAKING MUSIC. And next time you come visit the bay, Id be beyond grateful to hangout! You’re the best!!
I had no idea he had to endure so much pain for this song. It has been one of my favourites!! I have listened to hit literally 100's of times and never knew the level of pain behind it. I would love to see a colab between him and my man Teddy Swims the pain and soul from those 2 that track would be unreal they really know how to connect with the soul of a song and deliver it. It's such a gift!
I loved this song the first time I heard it, earlier today. That was before reading the video description and learning what it was about. I'm shocked to learn what you went through. Today, I listened to at least 20 of your songs and every one of them was awesome - you are extremely talented! Thank you for turning your struggles and pain into positive music that uplifts so many people. You are an amazing human!
James, this is beautiful, it nearly brought me to tears. My childhood wasn't as bad as yours was but I can relate to some of the pain you feel. Thank you for being so real and sharing your light despite your tragic upbringing. I wish more people could rise above their circumstances like you are doing. ❤❤
Absolutely inspiring, James. I'm glad you could share this message to all of us in the form of music. I'm glad you have been able to over come those challenges you were faced with in the past. This video, this message is more than just music. It's motivation. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. There is a God that loves us all. Killed it James. Don't ever stop being you.
James this is a beautiful song. I wish you were my kid I would hug you every day and tell you I love you. Keep a writing and singing hits like this one dear one you are amazing!
Your quiet dignity seems to be what speaks such loud volumes through your music esp in this bona fide message that Im positive will save lives James. Im happy you opened about your experiences. Definitely proving why youre not easily broken. Kudos & Respect -O
We love your music. I love that I can play something that has a popular rhythm and sound and is clean at the same time. School teachers love you! Never give up! More people are on your side than you know!
Wow. This is beautiful! I just happened upon this by accident. I accidentally typed in something wrong into Google...and up popped your picture and description! I clicked on this video and....wow! So inspiring. Thank you for making such beautiful music.
JTM, Jay Warren and DJ Kanani will be joining us at the YSA Be Not Moved Midwest Regional Conference in Kansas City, Missouri the first weekend of June 2019! We are flying them in for James to keynote the conference as well as give a concert. The YSA in the Midwest have been requesting him to come to our conference every year and we CANNOT wait to have them here! See you soon, gentlemen! :)
Hey JTM I just saw your post on fb. I recently had to make my own decision on toxicity and church. And although I have no bad feelings towards the church. I have decided I have to walk away. Since I've walked away I actually feel as if Christ were to come to my house this minute... I actually wouldn't feel ashamed. I support your journey no matter what your musical name is. I support your journey no matter where you go. I support you. ❤
You are such an inspiration of Christ-like love. Really appreciate you opening up and sharing your artwork with the world. Definitely an inspiration to us all.
Crazy how such a powerfully sad message can be so catchy! Sad that such a great song has to come from a place of such personal pain. I hope James keeps doing what he is doing because he is so talented, but I also hope that he continues to take care of himself first! Thoughts and prayers from a fellow member of the church!
I think its crazy how James can move past the past and talk about it so openly. It is just a testament to his message! Keep going James you are and inspiration to so many!!
James, I love what you are doing and I love you! I know from experience that it is not easy this path you have chosen. I am so proud of you and the man you are! I am proud of you for the hard choices to do good among a struggle to overcome your past. I know it is not easy and I love you! You are honestly one of the greatest people and I am so glad you are out there doing what you are doing!! Thank you for your life and your example to me of Christ! I know you are not perfect but your heart is so good!! I have hopes for a reunion and apology from my parents that may never come. I hope you never doubt who you are. I hope you always see how amazingly beautiful you are. I wondered my whole life if something was fundamentally wrong with me because my parents could not love me but you sharing your story, and me seeing your life has made me realize more and more who I am thank you! Thank you for your patience with me!! Thank you for being real and vulnerable your example has honestly been what I needed in some of my hardest times you have reminded me of who I am and who I want to be. So many things to say to you but timing I guess...
I watched an interview with you James not too long ago about regretting being James the Mormon. I just want you to know that you are having an impact on so many people. I watch your videos and feel the spirit. I live in an area where there are a lot of kids from rough houses. I am going to show them these. They need to know that the gospel is the light at the end of the tunnel.
You're doing it, bro. Amazing vulnerability and movement here. Thanks for inspiring all of us. Don't stop. Keep being a real one and we'll all keep on following. Peace and love.
jtm came to our conference and he preformed for us and spoke to us. what a amazing man he is such a sweet guy and super generous :) thank you James it was great to meet you
Love the message and the song! It really touched and made me think of my own life. Thank you for your music and messages and experiences of your own life you share with us. ❤❤❤ "baby tell me what you're thinking and imma give it motivation" ❤❤❤❤
Awesome message! We can’t choose the actions of others, but we can choose how we react and you have chosen to help others with your talents because of who you have chosen to be. ¡Saludos desde Logan!
I suffer for a mental disability could maladaptive daydream I have bin suffering for 10 years. I'm 17 but I am mentally 15, I struggle form reading and righting and I can't follow my dreams because of my trials. but all of inis going away, slowly, I can feel it I just haft to be patient. the lord can heal you, I can bare witness of that... just have faith.
Thank you for sharing some of your walk through life! so many people experience abuse similar and the other forms I appreciate you sharing. Your song was real to me. In some religions its not very well addressed at all. Also, many people enjoyed you coming to San Diego, Ca and speaking to many people who commented you spoke to them.
I wish you would find a great woman with a great family that would just love you! Maybe that’s not what you want. But if it is i’m sure you’ll find it. You deserve to be loved. Sorry about all the trauma but grateful that you have savior would understands and can take away the pain.
This just breaks my heart. I know I’m supposed to feel inspired by this- but as someone who also suffered tremendous abuse- it just fills me with rage and sadness! And I want there to be more than hope that it gets better!? Insufferable evil needs to be stamped out and dealt with by legal means! Healing and moving forward can and should include seeking restitution! I don’t know. I realize I can’t determine the way forward for any other human. This just upsets me..
This was oddly...cathartic? I think that's the word. I feel so much hurt, and rage, and indignation, and disgust toward the people who've hurt my children and I. Listening to this was like finding a form of hypothetical closure. ...and when you're hurting that much, even hypothetical closure is better than none.
Amazing song with a beautiful message. 👍
The amazing thing about James, is that he had this awful, terrible experience, but he chose to make good with his life, even though so many that are brought up like this, choose to go down wrong paths
Still listening to this song to this day love it
