Dont know if it will work on a s2, but on my s1 i have found the easiest way to remove and refit the bonnet is to take out the grill . Then i just reach through with a ratcheting ring spanner whilst the bonnet is down and remove the hinge bolts. Makes it easy as you don't have to support it's weight at any time. Makes aligning easy too as you can have it closed, pack all your gap lines with plastic builders shims and get it spot on and tightened up without opening the bonnet. Great idea with the old drill bits, gunna steal that idea !
I had my S11 engine rebuilt and looked brand new but it still cracked between the bores , unfortunately the block could not handle being bored out to 4.2 litres basically an inherent fault with these motors so annoying after all the effort. I’ve had several S1 and S11 but the 3.4 in my 67 MK11 was my favourite.
Adam, Ricks Cafe Americain. Ahh! Casablanca Fan. Did you have a Business venture? Also, you need Fender protectors. See if I can find you some, here in the States. I would clean-up and repaint Radiator and shroud.
Would it be possible to rig a light hoist from your roof beams? Not a heavy, "hauling motors out" affair, but something light as a third hand to stabilise panels while you unbolt them, etc.
Your video inspired me to pull my XJ6C. But I’m stuck. What is the size of the 4 bolts connecting the torque converter to the flywheel? And how can I fit a torque wrench to them, or is there another solution?
nice video.......I wonder if you've seen the videos of Soup Classic motoring.....he makes great time-lapse, stop motion videos while he's working on his workshop
Excellent job Adam! Will have to readjust the carburettors? I remember you having to adjust them when they were cold. What about the other fuel tank? Do you think you would have a replacement for the right side rank?
Thank you! I will mostly likely need to tweak them just a little bit but it will only been fine adjustments. I have sourced another tank from a friend and will be fitting it in the future. It will involve some rust proofing around the fuel tank areas

That is so helpful, thanks for posting
Excellent video. That was the best info of an XJ6 radiator.
S1 engine is indestructible! good luck!
Thank you!
Off to a great start Adam.
Big step. This is one of those jobs that can easily escalate but end up transforming the car. Nice.
I learn a real lot from these step by step 'instructionals' Thanx Adam - one day i may even have enough confidence to get a xj6 myself lol
I hope all the work will prove to solve the problem!
Thanks I think it will!
Alright, cool! Glad to see the long-awaited project started! Looking forward to the next installment. Thanks Adam!
Thanks Mark! Glad you’re enjoying it
I like that steering wheel ... never noticed that before
Thanks I really like it too! Very comfy with a great feel

Great video Adam, really enjoyed this
Glad you liked it Bob!
Hi Adam great video really involved and interesting the drill bit is such a good idea 👍🏻 thank you for sharing

I may do for some other things in the future but so far none of the panels have been too bad
Do you have to remove the bumper to remove the radiator.
No you don’t. But to remove the engine you do
it would be mean to fit new stainless steel exhaust manifolds ,would make a nice sound Adam ,what you think mate ?
The rest of the exhaust is stainless though. Can’t really afford those manifolds

Would a really soft strap around the hood being hooked to the engine hoist be easier to get it off? Just curious since I have never removed a hood.
It could work but it’s not that heavy to remove by yourself
Great video! Finally, the engine going in this car is it the one you bought a few days ago, or the one from the fire-damaged XJ6?
It’s the one from the fire damaged XJ6
So you have horse power in your stables as well lol
Yes we do

I think your an old hand at this Adam ! Something drastic will have to stop you from getting her back on the road before christmas ! Cheers !
How did you determine that your replacement engine is in adequate condition to get moved into the ultimate daily driver?
Purchased it from a friend and I have driven it in the donor car. Had a full rebuild a few thousand miles ago and runs very well
You should have disconnected the battery first before you started disassembling things.
It was disconnected. It has a quick disconnect and it is unscrewed almost all the way

@@LivingWithAClassic Excellent Adam, good luck 🤞!
At 15.00 the battery is still connected......
It’s a quick disconnect. I initially turned it a few turns to disconnect it like I normally do. Then I removed it fully later
Shame about that engine, such good oil pressure !
It does have good oil pressure but so does the new one
Your wife has horses, you have cats. Seems fair to me.
It is a fair deal
