Dr. Phil made you feel "safe". And there's nothing wrong with that. It's natural. It would be interesting to know if you would have been just as attracted to him if he were, instead, a scrawny short kid who didn't fill up the room.

I side with Andrew Tate, I believe most women want to feel taken care of, and not have to think women want to feel safe.
This is the exact kind of advice that is leading women astray in 2023, because it’s clearly an effort to be all inclusive to Dr. Phil’s heavily female audience, and not wanting to offend them by telling them the truth, and pretending women are special, simply because they are women, which doesn’t make any sense at face value.
The reality is majority of women will not give a man the chance to even court her unless he can deliver something of value that will show he can give her the security she needs. Whether that’s financial security, physical security, or both, it’s the main thing that gets a woman to notice a man is truly a man. All the other things, whether it’s his looks, personality, etc., come after that, when the man gets a date with the woman and is able to impress her through conversation.
The fact that she brings up all the other traits, like his tenderness or whatever, is missing the forest within the trees, because if he wasn’t financially secure and able to be a provider, she wouldn’t have even been interested in him in the first place. No woman wants a lazy bum that doesn’t try to be a man of value, and show he can take care of her, to some extent. Those other traits were just the cherry on top that made her like him more and sustained the relationship/marriage.
He was obviously doing something right, and still is, which is exactly what men, who are successful with women, say women want, and they have to know this to get women. So it’s funny how she tries to counter the so-called “toxic masculine” narrative by admitting that nobody (especially men) don’t know what women want, and cites random women in the audience as objective arbiters.

Not really that different. Women are attracted to genetics and provision. Both if possible....but they will seek different men to optimize both. Ethics, personality, morals all take distant traits they look for.

You know Dr. Phil is very secure with himself when he said right there in front of a national audience that his wife is successful is doesn’t need him.
That’s a level of self-assurance and confidence is not something that these men who have more outdated attitudes about women and relationships can relate to. They are trying to apply old-world ideas to a modern age and it just does not work. The fact of the matter is, in this day and age, while many (probably most) women do want a man, that does not mean we need men in our lives in general). Everything that men have historically been responsible for is now replaced. An ambitious, successful woman does not need a man to provide shelter, financial security, food, etc. The ONLY thing that can keep a man in her space in this day and age is desire. So, if men really want to be complimentary to a woman’s life, they are either going to 1) Stop seeking women who can take themselves and instead go for when who are struggling and not really interested in working to advance themselves OR
2) Make themselves desirable instead of trying to be needed. You are not going to get far with a woman who does not need you if you are failing to be what she desires. This is not rocket science.
