Thiem is such a gentle soul....You can see the sparkle in his eyes when he talks about other players.....He may be a beast in the court but off it he is one of the nicest guy....

Fun fact: Rafa actually beat Jon Rahm, current no.1 in golf in a round. Rahm himself said it in an interview.

Yeahh I feel like that's one of the things that the ATP hyped up to be more than it actually is :( a while back on one of the "Road to Roland Garros" car interviews Diego actually named PCB and Rafa as his best friends on tour

Thiem always says the following:
His overall best friend is the Austrian tennis player Dennis Novak (they've been friends since childhood).
His closest friend on tour is Sasha Zverev (and they've also known each other for many years) and his second closest friend is Diego.
The interviewer asked them to name only one, and unfortunately, Thiem obeyed and only said one XD Btw, Diego and Thiem are closer, but I would have liked him to also mention Stefanos.. I like them :) Stefanos does usually not seem too "affectionate" with other players, but Thiem and him are always super nice with each other
Zverev and thiem are best friends tho they known each other for a long time too. just because he and others get a long doesn’t mean they are close friends

Literally everyone mentioned him lol But he only said Sasha... Yeah, Domi's best friend is the Austrian tennis player Dennis Novak, and his best friend on tour is Sasha, followed by Diego. Such a pity that they were asked to only mention one player. Domi and Diego are really sweet friends :) And I also like Domi and Tsitsipas btw :)

I think Domi is friends with everyone :-P He is like such a nice guy :-P Oh, and incredible talent and power. The Rafa match was good, showed that he can step it up on the court. Now he has to just work on maintaining that level for 5 sets and he can surely take down Rafa or Nole in grand slams. I wish he wins even more slams now that he is put himself on the charts. He deserves it :D

Definitely! I picked Thiem some years ago as Rafa's successor to support, not just for being a brilliant tennis player, but also for being a fantastic role model on and off the court.

Thiem makes actually the most sense imo. He's the only one who actually plays in a club. Of course, he misses most matches lol but he's a great player.. he really is. And he always says he would have become a football player, if he hadn't become a professional tennis player

However, I think Rafa makes sense too for one reason: his uncle, Miguel Ángel Nadal, was a professional football player. Rafa was in love with football when he was a kid and his football trainers were saying that he could become a professional. Having someone in your family that can easily promotes you and your talent really help when it comes to becoming a pro.
But anyway, Rafa would have turned pro at golf if his foot injury in 2005 didn't heal. So Football wasn't an option for so long.

@@sa2520 yeah, same with Thiem. He had the option to become both but then chose tennis. He always says in interviews that he would have become a professional football player, if he hadn't become a tennis pro. But Thiem is still a player and plays competititve matches in an official football league. You can watch football matches with Thiem everytime he's in Austria, but I've never seen Rafa play a football match, only juggling a tennis ball. I'm sure Rafa played matches as a kid, and I don't say that Rafa isn't good, I'm sure he's talented, but Thiem is REALLY a football player, and he's a really good one (an attacking midfielder). So, no, naming Thiem is not a "wrong answer" at all. And it's neither necessary nor nice to try to shade his football skills just because you are a huge Rafa fan. You like Rafa, we get it, and he's great, but he's not the only one who's allowed to play football (especially considering the fact that Thiem really still plays).. and he loves the sport. He even says the success of Chelsea, his favorite club, is more important to him than his own career as a tennis player. As Thiem always says "My heart is blue."

What you've claimed isn't really proven to be true anywhere . I've checked your claims but again there was no mention of it. Nadal has played for an actual football club academy that is famous and is in the first division of the laliga when he was young and was a promising star at the time .He would had been a professional football player if it wasn't for tennis while there is no prove of Thiem playing even in a football academy. Unless you are giving me the prove of what you've claimed the clear answer here is Rafa

he goes and sit with some players while eating
He encourages low ranked players
(At the ATP Cup, he approached the Japanese team and complimented thier performance, they appreciated that)
He is a very kind and nice guy, but he doesn't need to beg for attention, he doesn't dance, or impersonate others to appear funny.
Even at court he nevers ask the crowd to cheer for him after a great shot like some players do.
Finally, all players respect him, and they voted for him to take sportsmanship award.
So you are beyond wrong 🙂
@@bilalattal2707 I am probably Rafa's biggest fan. I was not being negative. What I am saying is he is not interested in boosting his own profile & has his own team that he hangs out with. He really would not be interested in who is the best dancer etc. Its not his style. Rafa is the sweetest, most decent guy in the world but he is a professional.
