  • Mountain Tai 泰山 was the most sacred mountain during the time of imperial China. Many poets composed poems about Mount. Tai. Du Fu's Gazing at Mountain Tai 望嶽 is the best known poem among the poems. It expresses a young scholar's political ambition in such a powerful way that it is still cited very often by Chinese people today! This video translates this poem and compares it with Stephen Owen's translation of the poem. It also presents analysis of the poem and discusses the political significance of this poem.
