🏍️ Kawasaki Vulcan S vs 🏍️ Harley-Davidson Street 750 | And the best mid-capacity cruiser is...

- Kawasaki's first cruiser for the Indian market, the Vulcan S, takes on Harley-Davidson's most affordable bike in the country, the Street 750. But does the Vulcan's unique cruiser experience, built around sportbike underpinnings, have what it takes to dethrone Harley's most popular model not just in India but across the world? From a stance perspective, it's surprisingly the Kawasaki that offers a more traditional cruiser experience, while the Street 750, as its name suggests, is more of an upright street bike than a conventional cruiser. But then, it’s the American that comes with a thumping V-twin motor - something you'd expect from a cruiser - while the Japanese packs a high-revving parallel-twin engine. So who comes out top in this mix-and-match mashup?

In May of this year(2018), I bought a 2017 Kawasaki Vulcan 650S. It was brand new with 2 miles. The motorcycle was an overstock of last years model. That said, Im 6'1, 185 lbs and I can assure you the suspension on the Vulcan S is perfectly fine on bad roads. There is a small tool in the tool bag under the seat that allows you, in literally 2 seconds, to adjust the suspension and select between 1 of the 8 different settings. The settings range from: 1 = perfect road conditions to 8 = Extremely rough road conditions. There are some nasty bumps on the expressway that would literally pop me up off the seat a "1/2 inch on the lowest setting. After adjusting to setting 3, I barely notice the same bump and it feels like riding over one of those cables that track how many cars pass through point x that the Highway Dept lays across a lane from time to time. Also, the suspension adjustment location is always accessible and requires no labor/wrenching/or uncovering to get at. For Highways and long distance rides? This was my first bike and after the engine break-in period, I took a solo road trip over 1,000 miles from Western, NY to Flat Rock NC. The posted Speed Limit for extended duration's down I-86 was 70 MPH and generally speaking, most vehicles were doing 80 - 85 and I had zero problem maintaining speed, control, or comfort. Disregard the comments on the "odd shape" of the handle bars because you absolutely do not notice it. Additionally, the only piece that I would reccomend for a long trip on that bike is a $10 or less plastic Cruise Assist that grips the throttle with no permanent mounting, any assembly steps, or dis-assembly steps when you want it off. You can also with 1 finger spin the assist out of the way if you dont want to use it or if youre changing from highway to city riding and feel like its in the way normally. I find that its not an issue while changing from stop-n-go to highway but its an option none-the-less. This is the exact item I use: www.ebay.com/itm/Crampbuster-Motorcycle-Throttle-Cruise-Assist-Rocker-CB3-/13051386849
Follow up on exhaust decibel because I noticed it in a few comments. I'm up late at night quite often and I live in an apartment complex. I've asked 6 neighbors if the noise from ignition, leaving, or arrival is too loud at night/day. These people have bedroom and living room windows 20 ft - 150 ft (1st through 3rd floors) from where I park and they all said that they never hear it unless there is absolutely no sound in the apartment and the windows are wide open. Even then, its barely audible and a small box fan drowns the sound completely.
On the road at 4k RPM's or less, the bike is as quiet as any car. Its loud-ish when you open it up or if holding at 90+ but, even then... The speakers I have mounted can play music crystal clear while wearing a full helmet with locked visor. There are many other sport-cruisers that are significantly louder. You don't buy this bike to be heard coming down the road. You buy it because it's adjustable for anyone short/tall (ergo-fit parts), inexpensive, physically comfortable, handles well, looks alright, and is great for a commuter, day, mid-range to long-range trips.
The single complaint I have on this bike is that the Maximum top speed is 114 MPH (+/- 5 MPH) after 110 it barely creeps out each 1 mph after. Literally every 7 seconds you gain that 1 mph. I don't intend to drive that fast so its really not a problem for me. However, the engine is supposed to be the same as the Ninja 650 and I cannot see that even with the slightly higher base weight of the Vulcan. Whether its gearing or not, I don't know. What I do know is that you absolutely cannot rip a power-wheelie in any gear, so gearing would affect torque/acceleration at the cost of top-speed right? The gearing argument seems a bit off to me unless I've mistaken something with how works or whats actually meant when people say that. Which is entirely possible. Anyways hope that helps.
Accessories so far:
- I've mounted a Blue Tooth sound system on the handle bars, 2 boss speakers with a 600 watt amp under the seat. ($79.99) Amazon
- Handle Bar Mount Cell Phone Holder ($19.99) DICKS
- 3.1 Amp Dual USB Quick Charge SAE Adapter with an ON/OFF Switch ($6.99) - Amazon
- Cruise Assist ($8.99) Amazon
- Leather Saddle Bags - ($136) Dealership *Buy Lockable Metal/Plastic/Fiberglass Bags that come WITH the Mounts*
The Key with the bags is that most leather ones use plastic clips to hold the bags closed which work fine but, they don't lock. So if you're on a road trip or any quick errand run for that matter and you stop to; eat, go shopping at multiple stores, or do anything for that matter where you don't have the bike in constant visual contact, you risk have the bags raided or unzipped off the bike (which takes a whole 3 seconds or less to do). I use a single zip-tie on each bag which only slightly slows down a potential thief and when I park for the day, the bags come off and are hauled inside. Its really a pain in the ass.
@@davidchapman3375 Thanks for all this info. Very informative and helpful. Def gunna go with the Vulcan
Every one of my four bikes have cruise control. Very relax on highway speed and can even ride hands free on straight roads.
Lot of time on your hands?
How much did you get it for?
Harley's good at one thing and that's being Harley-Davidson. That's why I bought the Kawasaki Vulcan s cuz it's badass!
@༺RΐdeR༻ 22
Thanks Brother Highly appreciated the info Thanks for Braking it Down. God Bless.
Me too !
After watching this review and dozens of other reviews I bought a Vulcan S because all the other reviews consider Vulcan to be the better Bike !
I own the vulcan and i have ridden the street. Frankly there isnt any comparison at all. Vulcan looks better rides better handles better and is such a sporty cruiser. Vulcan can give tough competition to some bigger Harleys.
@LALIT Dhanwani definitely. Aquila pro doesnt even have a cruiser tuned engine. Its a sport bike in cruiser body. And hyosung is not known for great service too.
@@drvikramsamal hi, could you give me an estimate of the average maintenance cost in the years you've owned the Vulcan. Is the ride quality good enough for Indian roads? Thanks
@@darkverse3133 6k per year
@@drvikramsamal Thanks
Vulcan is my pick...
Adithya Gaonkar I have Vulcan 900 almost 3yrs and it loves more on every ride. Vulcan is far from Harley. No issues in 3 yrs even 5 minutes to change oil and servicing.
amandeep bajwa yes Japanese bikes are way more reliable...
Harley street 750 is my pick 😀👍
@@adventure8319well to bad harely sucks
I own one. I recommend
That Kawasaki will still be a great bike after 10+ years of use. The Harley will be long forgotten.
I'll take the Vulcan all day price with that performance and good looks I think it's the better choice in my opinion..
Kawasaki in fact provides custom fit handle bars , foot pegs and seating to suit the riding comfort/height of the rider. Don’t know if they do that in India though.
Come on guys...pls include the soundtrack of bikes...even if it is muted on standard exhaust... Also what about headlight performance ... And i want to know that mentioned fuel efficiency figures are achieved of what kind of speed..
tryambak shandilya AGREE!!!
Yap but fuel efficiency is there
The Kawasaki gets a slipper clutch, gear position indicator, more refined motor and better top end performance. It also has better braking and heats less compared to the Harley Davidson.
Yes cause its a ninja 650 engine.. for me street 750 win by his name harley davidson only.. because kawasaki is more on sports bike.. not same as harley
The street750 win only by his name harley davidson and when it comes in features and specs the vulcan win.. but they are deffirent cause kawasaki is more on sports bike and harley is more on cuiser bike..
When it comes to review of cruisers and tourers no one is better than PB. Hats off to you. nice review
Excellent review. I had difficulty understanding certain English a couple of times though but understood most of the time. You answered about every question I had about the comparison. I was surprised that the Harley was lighter and less quick but more fuel efficient and less expensive!!! I would have guess the opposite on all counts. This review was fascinating because of that. Also that Harley’s suspension was better in the real world. The looks of the Harley are without question better and more “cruiserish”. My friend just bought the Vulcan s last week without even giving the Harley street 750 a chance. The Harley’s are more expensive here in the states but most people would simply choose which ever one is better as long as prices aren’t much higher.
Anyways fantastic review.
How about a performance comparison between the Harley Streetrod 750 vs Vulcan S. Maybe the higher performance of the streetrod is more of a match for the Vulcan?
Great host and gr ee's at video,
I'm happy to support your channel!!!!!
Peace and love from USA!!!
Vulcan S is the Winner .
In real life world Vulcan is far ahead of Harley 🏍️
Puneet Bakshi .. True.
Puneet Bakshi how is Vulcan ahead? Components are better made on the Harley.
justin cool You can check with any Harley entry level model owners about the quality of components (Cable+Switches+Heating issue) and then can visit Kawasaki showroom or speak to any Vulcan owner to see the difference urself mate. Cheaper Harleys are just about Harley Branding and nothing more however Kawasaki delivers extreme quality in evey bike they make :)
Harley street 750 much better 👍
Vulcan is better
I've test drove both bikes myself. That's why i came home with a Vulcan S Cafe. More power and better ride. I felt crapped up on the HD and was rough on bad roads.
I spent three years comparing the Vulcan S and the Street 750. I made my decision because of one very arrogant and rude answer from a tech at the HD dealership. The Vulcan S won out because it is simply more bike for the money and it leaves the Harley in the dust on many fronts. Harley Davidson is dying for a reason. Shitty customer service is one of them.
Anchor is absurd saying street got the upper hand than vulcan.guys biased.cant we deserve a better anchor and unbiased review.
Was very unbiased and it made the comparison crystal clear to the point. Keep it up guys!!
Seemed pretty biased to me.
Didn't see that coming! Good compare.
The worst part of riding a S750 is engine heat. totally neglected in this review. I have ridden S750 a lot and I can say it can't be better than Vulcan S!!! I feel reviews like this should be concluded from mind, not heart. Unless its biased.
Which one is good bro?
@@MohitSingh-zz7eu Vulcan is much better buddy..
against HD 750 I'll pick Vulcan any given day, twice on sunday....your review is wrong.
love this review.. from the Philippines!!
This was a very good idea for comparison, however most people who want to buy Harley street 750 are really scared of the brakes failing badly and Harley not caring about customer complaints.
0-100: 5.86 sec? are you serious? the vulcan get a 4.2sec, and I even dropped it under 4.1 sec ....
Everything I've seen says it's well under 5 seconds
If you weigh as much as the guy reviewing the bike it will take you anywhere between 5 secs to 3 months to get there 😅
We want such a comparison video between the Street Rod 750 and Ninja 650.
The Vulcan makes the Harley look like a Marx Big Wheel.
Flying Dog talk English or get out
@Flying Dog LMAO
@@jimwortham8634 Va se foder, babaca.
How about the engine heating for both the bikes?
Hi I am plng to buy cruiser bike in May this year. Can you plz suggest if should I go for the RE Super meteor or Kawasaki volcan 650. which would be better. thanks
AS ALWAYS DETAILED COMPARISON .GOOD WORK
Vulcan - S is far better than Street 750...
How can he forget to mention heating issue of HD? Heating is so bad in HD. But Kawasaki should launch green colour Vulcan in india. Mat Black is not that much fresh. But Vulcan is clear winner.
Excellent review. The 2016 Harley Street won me over and my other bike is a 2007 Honda 919. These two bikes cover anything I want to do on the road and just make me happy. Ram mount mirrors and Tourmaster bags allow plenty of room for trips to the store or some longer tours.
I find it funny how you say the Harley is a jack of all trades when the Vulcan beats it in every category apart from rear suspension and turning due to the Vulcan's low front pegs.
Those indicators on Vulcan were so wobbly
How would the Street Rod compare?
But heating on thighs is not tolerable on harley
Wouild you please review in your next episode , Kawazaki Vulcan S versus Honda Rebel 500 thanks.
I'll save you some time.
Town/City riding _only_ - get the Rebel.
Otherwise get the Vulcan.
Hard to believe a single person would choose the Harley.
Where are the exhaust notes?
Headlight performance?
Try to be a bit more elaborate with your reviews.
Harley-Davidson Street 750 is one of the worst sounding motorcycles I have ever heard. Harley-Davidson even uses a fake engine sound in the Street 750 commercial. I don't know if an exhaust can make it better.
The Harley SUCKs end of story.
The stock headlight bulb kinda sucks on the Vulcan
Also the slipper clutch on the vulcan is not mentioned.. cause the vulcan has the ninja 650 engine..
Please do a comparison between Apache RR 310 and Benelli Tornado 302.
Apache RR 310 entered to a big competition including Ninja 300 ,Yamaha R3, Benelli TNT 300, Tornado 302, Duke 390, Honda CBR 250R and KTM RC 390..
It is a big confusion for the youngsters who look for this segment. Ninja , Tornado and R3 are very costly. Apache came in between CBR 250R and KTM 390s.
It is essential to give a comparison here. I believe Zigwheels will do a comparison of this segment as soon as possible.
Vulcan.. 100%.
Its boils down to rider comfortability. Ride what you like. Ride safe.
When I test drove the 650, I didn’t feel like it was too plush at all and I’m like 175lbs
5 stars for the cinematography buddies.
......ONE MORE THING IS THAT HD MAKES IT PEEK TORQUE AT VERY LOW REVS AS COMPARED TO THE KAWASAKI, AND THAT RESULTS IN VERY GOOD PULL AT LOW REVS N ALSO THERE IS LESSER GEAR SHIFTING IN LOW SPEEDS AND NOT TO FORGET THE BURBLING SOUND OF A V Twin.
You are a massive liar. The Harley-Davidson Street 750 doesn't have any "burble". It sounds like a giant sewing machine. It is one of the worst sounding engines I have ever heard.
Ohh for god's sake, please change this anchor, he is terrible, please bring Karthik back.... this dude tried to replace karthik at Autocar and then he also followed him to Zigwheels! Comeon guys, get over this dude! ( I dont have any personal thing against him but its clear that there are many better anchors than him)
Dr. Harsh Chapadia true , his speech is not clear too. , i think he should get lessons from voice magic kartik.
Even i was thinking the same and came to read comments to see if others think the same or not, his voice clarity I can't even understand half of the words he pronounces. And his accent man it makes it even more harder.
I can barely understand his english.
I just ordered the street 750 anniversary edition.
Watch out my unboxing of HD street 750
@@jayesh_15 You bought the wrong bike my dude.
Harely is on ventilator. ..his voice is trying to save harely....useless. Vulcan s acceleration ready....
Do we have this Street available now?
its funny how half the people in the comments dont own any of these bikes and then give opinions based on test drives. The other half who owns them have put up their bikes on olx
Street 750, the name itself tells that it's a city bike and not cruiser so why expect the unexpected.
It is made in India.
Just wait for 1 more month and see what RE 650s brings on table.
I bet they will be really good
I m sorry to say bt its been a year now and re 650 is not at all better thn vulcan s650...i hv ridden both of them and i bought vulcan s 650
Interceptor can be compared to Harrier while Vulcan to Land Rover ! Both are good in their own perspective..
@@sathishrao7926 u smoothly killed him dude 😂😂💥
Excellent
The team that shot this video has done an amazing job.. but honestly this guy anchoring the show has got to take some serious lessons with speech. Half of what he speaks sounded Turkish mixed with Swahili (meaning I cudnt understand a word)
Zigwheels, hire a better anchor pls
Man, I totally agree with you... couldn’t get a word of what he was trying to convey... he’s got a very heavy North Indian accent which actual reflects quite poorly on the image of zigwheels...
He doesn't have a North Indian accent. He is a rapper disguised as an anchor. Speaks way too fast.
What about Hyosung ST7 and Aquila Pro? 😜
Non biased and brief...thanks!
Your acceleration for the vulcan was 5.86 seconds? I have seen others do it live on a stock one in in around 4.5, might just be like that due to the indian version being heavier than the north american one.
Or hes a shit rider
Most cases it's the rider. You gotta be quick on that clutch when switching gears to obtain the fastest time
My best on my Vulcan (has windscreen & crash bars, so a bit heavier) is 0-60mph in 4.65s. A more experienced rider would do better.
Make a video Kawasaki Vulcan S review, test drive, etc at least 10 minutes ❤️
Great review thks
This guy sound like hes gonna sell me some fake free vacation package at the end lol
Haven’t seen any other Review which has rated Street 750 better than Vulcan S !
USDs and better looking set of alloys and headlamps would boost that typical badass looks of the Harley...
The US brand is good only in big cities... I hope it reached them the sentiments. We go to the nearest parts available for longevity of that priced items. Philippines
On roads that don't resemble India's bomb-crater-esque roads, the Vulcan is the superior machine. There's just no contest, and it's less expensive to boot.
I've ridden both and I can't really agree with the opinions espoused here.
No mention of the Vulcan's 18 position ergo system?!
Where did those 0-100 numbers come from? The Vulcan S does 0-100k in under 5 seconds all day long!
I've done 4.65 in mine, a more experienced rider can beat that I'm sure.
I know the video is old but the rear tyre on the HD 750 is 150/70 R15, not R17.. And Street 750 is a great bike.. Solid build quality... But as with most HDs, the ride is far from smooth.. Royal Enfield riders should have no problem with the ride quality though..
Thanx for the no nonsense review. Please include the original sound of the bikes next time.
Kawasaki is best and advanced
Why not compare the street rod instead of street 750? 🤔
rushabh anam it's not a cruiser...the seating posture is far from a cruiser
Any other alternatives?

And low price also
arun ajay : In India, Vulcan costs slightly more ( at least in 2018 when I bought Vulcan )
Kawasaki lacks the heritage of Harley
Sanjoy Singha Roy : Sanjoy Singha Roy : It is the cult following that
- made Harleys so famous (and infamous)
- led to the lack of innovation ( inferior technology, performance, refinement and reliability because the ‘cult’ doesn’t care about these )
- is leading to steady decline in sales over the last few years with questions like ‘Will it survive ?’
It’s such a ‘cult’ following that led to our Enfields still having Carburated, Aircooled Single cylinder, SOHC engines with drum brakes and no fuel gauge until recently ( because the ignorant ‘cult’ believed that Enfields are the best bikes money can buy !)
Anything Kawasaki beats any Harley any day of any given week or year for that matter
You mean like the Kawasaki Vaquero lol
I booked Vulcan s one of my dream cruisher bike
have a comparison on harley lowrider vs fatbob
I am gonna Upgrade my Ninja 300 to Vulcan S..this winter.
The only thing that is concerning is the ground clearance!! Man, 130 mm for off roading or broken battered roads. Anyone has gone off roading with this bike?? Even while riding Avenger which has 170mm ground clearance sometimes it gets scraped!! Anyone who has done off roading with Vulcan s please comment here.
Pure biased review from a pseudo bike journalist. Vulcan S is clearly a better bike, and pls don't tell me Street is a Harley
Ranjit Shinde Right bro... he is the first guy to say street is better than Vulcan

This is the only review that rates Street 750 higher than Vulcan S !
@@deveshsingh5562 well he said in a rider persecpective. Not every one is comfortable with front set foot pegs and a low riding stance. But yes equipment levels are far better on kawaski than Harley's

I don't know much about either bike, but, b4 watching any comparisons, I'm gonna guess the Vulcan is a much better bike.
I have no idea what he recommended. I'll take the Kawasaki, it has more cc's and costs about the same.
Vulcan s is better i think
Vulcan anyday
Let's be honest there is no comparison. Honda, Yamaha, and Kawasaki all build better bikes between 250 - 1000 cc's than Harley Davidson. There is no competition. I'll take my Honda 750 Phantom over either of these bikes.
This is a sorta psuedo bike journalist. No real reviews I've seen have ever rated the HD above the Vulcan. The Vulcan is, anyday, a better product.
I would say Harley isn't worth looking at till the Softail tier. 1700cc. Anything lower like the Sportsters or the Streets then there are much better alternatives in Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha. That's by looks, performance and price.
Truth.
Harley Davidson looks like it's suffering from malnutrition 😂😂😂😂
Or Bajaj Avenger on steroids 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm sorry but I think your host needs to slow down his speech a little. I can barely understand a word he's saying.
Great cameo by the cow !
From this vedio I come to know Ground clearance is good of Harley, feel of cruiser is good of Kawasaki, control & suspension is good of Kawasaki please correct if I am wrong.
The matte black tank with the classic metal logo in the street 750 looked much much better.
Vulcan s is better becoz it's a Kawasaki.
They should make the vulcan 300

The V is a great value, however you look at it. The reliability, I have no doubt V will put the HD in the pocket. Kawa knows bikes well. I would lean to the K 100%%%%%.
How about the heat management in city driving on the two machines?
Karan Seth it's better on Vulcan...Harley would straight up burn your thighs
Agreeing with Luv Kumar here, Having ridden both bikes in city conditions, the Harley does heat up a lot more than the Vulcan
TheModernCafe Racer you probably know more about them man...I just did a shit load of research hoping to buy one of them someday.
All you have to look at one as air-cooled and the other one is water cooled which one do you think is going to be cooler
Scottie Carroll "liquid cooled"...
