Rome Total War - Cut-Content - FINAL

- Welcome to the last episode, for now, of cut Total War Content.
I have covered almost everything for the classical titles, and as I could not get my hands on an alpha version, it seems now would be a good time to end the series.
I would do them for other titles, but those are harder to find stuff for, so it is unlikely.
If I find something big, then they will come back, but for now I have no current plan.

Enjoy : )
I think that will be it for now. Thank you so much to everyone who sent me stuff, this would have only been 2-3 epsiodes if it wasn't for you. Thank You.
This series will temporarily be replaced by a 3 Part Documentary Series about the History of Total War!
If you were around during the release Shogun 1 - Medieval 2 and want to feature in the video with a quote or two, then email me, message me on Twitter, or, preferably Discord. Discord: discord.gg/xXG4Awm
I will ask a few questions about your experience and may quote your answers to use in the series. : )
In data/models there are some old models that can be used, there is an Aquilifer with an Eagle similar to the event images (Eagle_500.CAS and inside the data\models\textures folder it's texture is Eagle bearer.tga.dds) and a Signifier with the long standard with the hand (Standard_500.CAS and Standard_bearer.tga.dds), there are and other ones as well, among them a centurion (that made the game ctd) and a legionary model.
They are not looking very good but the Aquilifer with retexture can be very good for vanilla like experiance.
Looking in the old construction cards there are units from the Barbarian Invasion, not only the Gothic and Hunnic units but late Roman as well such as Comitatences (ROMAN_LATE_LEGIONARIES.TGA), you can also find the black shield - black armor Romans they are ROMAN_PRAETORIAN_COHORT_II and the ROMAN_PRAETORIAN_COHORT_URBAN_II.
The Julii could have gotten elephants from a Senate mission.
That makes sense, yellow must be just the mercenary colour then.
3:45 - Generals bodyguards - post marian are Praetorian, while on the scene are in fact legionary cavalry.
Great series! The Seleucid legionaries part where you said the general’s unit had an eagle standard, I think the eagle was above the legionaries flag
Yeah, looking back now I realised, as you can still see the general unit's banner right next to it XD
@@MelkorGG The eagle means it it inspires near allied units.
I thought I'd never see the day... IT'S OVER!
For now : )
10:00 it might be different for this earlier version but the eagle on the banner means they have an ability called "eagle inspires nearby troops" which is what the legionary first cohort have in the proper game so maybe the Seleucid legionnaires also had it early on. Plus we can see the general's square banner right behind it indicating the general is in the cav unit and at 9:54 the same eagle can be seen on a legionary unit in the background.
Yep, I realised the actual general banner only once it was recorded, edited and uploaded XD
4:00 is definitely RTW, not BI. You've got post-Marian legionaries, and Julii, Gaul and Germania as factions (all of these things aren't in BI at all)
he meant the german banner, it looks like BI’s Burgundii banner
That Barbarian unit that you said we sadly didn't get to see, it looks like the Night Raiders (Axemen) in Barb Invasion to me?
9:31 the British also don't have archers in the full game.
Yep, never noticed that. Interesting : )
Wow the final one. I think that you have covered everything so far
Thanks for the cut content so far, really learned things in this series. A shame it's over for now. (Btw, I'm pretty sure the Fly knew this was the last one and tried to delay the end)
XD
And even when you can hire mercenary elephants, it's those worthless tiny ones with no armor and no archers.
The reason i would even use elephants in the first place, it's easy to keep them alive. (also serves multiple roles when kept behind f.ex. a Seleucid phalanx as an archer and reserve heavy cavalry unit)
for Banners.. even back in RomeTW you could go into the Preferences.TXT >> SHOW_BANNERS:TRUE and set it to FALSE and easy as that, they were gone ... unless you meant on the fly.... than not xD
you can press j to hide banners
only on campaign screen
I want those selucid skins :(
They would be so cool being unique
14:17
Claudius invaded Britain with war elephants, so, its canon
I remember this Julii faction video with yellow elephant breaking the barbarian wall :) I believe this yellow elephant can still be found in the game files. It also uses different model with smaller ears
By the way romans took 200 elephants in First Punic War as a trophy on Sicily
I hear witcher 3 music
So many cursed images....
After 12 episodes, the cut content serie for rtw is finally done, now there is like 10 more tw games to cover and we are good to go
XD I would say Med 2 is done also. Rome 2 has been covered by others already. I would love to look into Empire and Napoleon, but have not found a single thing yet.
MELKOR there was a video on ETW cut contest but I can’t find it anymore. It showed things like event artwork and unused animations.
You can move through yt videos with , and . fram per fram
Did CA responded you about the alpha version of Rome?
They responded. It was looking good at first, but of course they figured out it would take too much time to make playable as a download, as they were all disk at the time they sent the alphas out.
@@MelkorGG wait but...
I had the original game of pirates of the carribean from 2003 and there is no steam version and it was only for disks. I found someone who could send me the file and I had to use a virtual drive to use it.
To the point The could send you the file probably. It is a hassle to work it out but probably possible.
I could download a game which was only disk playable.
They dont need to make it playable for a full download. That would take time to rework the alpha but with a virtual drive you can work around that. talk to them.
I still know that pirate game from my childhood. From 2003 good times.
=D
so good to see some new vids about rome ur the last hope for this game sir!
rome remake with 4 players multiplayer campaign YEAH i would buy it immediately for 100£
On campaign map , press i to remove banners. Dunno if it works on battle map , but , yeah
Omg I remember that shot of the Greeks and Parthians! The nostalgia!
Maybe because the elephants have Hellenistic riders it could be elephant Epirus mercenaries
5:54 scipii armour reminds me of romans in spartan total warrior maybe the models are the same
Cheers man
10:51. There's a file where you can disable unit banners. I can't remember which one though but it does work.
Yep, but that requires a Mod. They have them on and off in the same battle, meaning they must have had a hotkey for it
@@MelkorGG True. But they originally planned for a cinematic mode but later removed it or never finished it.
greeks are spartans
I think they used those black and red shields in Spartan Total Warrior
10:12 You can clearly see that the cav unit has a square general banner and a bit before that that it also has a captain inside its unit so the eagle most definitely means it's a first cohort
Damn that seleucid screenshot looks badass, units models too
Not Macedonia, itz the flag of sparta
9:40 Those Seleucids look way more historically accurate. A mix of Greek infantry in a fancy Roman style, desert peltasts and Macedonian Companions as elite cavalry.
Not to mention cataphacts having god damn shields!
"A shield, how quaint"
5:05 aren't those the Graal Knights from BI?
Mac lancies
1:49 settlements don't have names ? or you mean the settlement names on map were turned off ? isn't their a hotkey that will disable them ?
Yeah, that's weird. I don't know any hotkey that does that.
@@MelkorGG Ctrl+T turns on/off settlement names/info ?!
Nice, just tried it now. It worked : )
@@MelkorGG 👍 great it may have been turned off so they could take a better cinematic screenshot or maybe the UI/Hotkeys were still being worked on anyway great video series have fun playing. 🙂
6:05 I think those blackened shields and armour is just bad shading effects messing with the colours. You still see this to this day that when doing typically glitchy things such as climbing a ladder or crossing a bridge that units will occasionally flash to a much darker colour temporarily. Also you can see in the farther off distance to the left another scipi legionnaire who isn't with that darkened armour.
Also no that eagle wasn't the general, u can see the square general banner right behind it and it moves with the general after. But maybe the selucids had a unit that gives moral similar to those larger roman legionaries post marian that boost moral? They have a similar eagle on their banners
I found they were real units, in the folder with the old costruction cards there are these units they are reforms for the Praetorian and Urban cohorts look at ROMAN_PRAETORIAN_COHORT_II.TGA and the ROMAN_PRAETORIAN_COHORT_URBAN_II.TGA.
@@mitsvanmitsvanio6106 idk where unit cards are located but I'll take your word for it. You mean the darkened shield guys?
Yes, you have to unpack the ui_0.pak and ui_1.pak and then in the extracted folder you go to "name of folder you extracted pak"\DATA\UI\UNITS\CONSTRUCTION.
I had extracted it some days ago to see the naval units cards and some event ones but never exactly search it. Yesterday I watched the video and the old cards in the end, so I decided to see them myself, found the Gothic units, the Hunnic units, one interesting thing found late Roman units that are in the Barbarian Invasion such as Comitatenses and the darkend shield ones that they have them as reforms for the Praetorian and Urban cohorts.
@@mitsvanmitsvanio6106 Thanks for the info!
Nothing. What a profile picture though, I have to see this abomination from parody "encyclopedias" around 2007, minus the pickelhaube of course.
