This is my favorite track of all time because of the meaning behind it. When Sampha’s mom was diagnosed with cancer, he moved back home to take care of her. The piano he used to learn on as a child was in the home and he would play music for his mother on it. When she passed, he used that piano to record this song for her.

Sampha wrote this song soon after his mother passed. Reflecting upon him caring for his mum through her cancer diagnosis and final days.
The entire Process album is a masterpiece! I highly recommend the NPR tiny desk concert that he did also, he's such a pure artist

Jon it’s okay, I reacted in the very same way when first hearing this back in 2017, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful songs written and recorded within the past decade. Sampha is and has been the genius behind an awful lot of music that has driven the UK scene in the past 5 or so years, and is yet to gain the recognition he thoroughly deserves. I have a feeling that the next time we do hear from him it’ll be to share something super special.

This song bout his grandmother who passed I think, he used to play the piano at her house, I think that's the story
It was actually his mother, that passed away from Cancer. He wrote it while he was staying with her in her final year. This is something Sampha said about this song, "this song is dedicated to my mother binty sisay. the more time that passes, the more i see the extent of her love for me."
I hope Jon didn't forget about Sampha. I'm really excited for your reaction to Process! It really is a masterpiece and I do think you're really gonna love it.

You should check the whole album. One of the best R&B albums ever IMO.
You’re honestly not wrong. It’s an absolutely perfect album. For me, No One Knows Me is not even one of the highlights, but it’s still a beautiful and touching song. A song like What Shouldn’t I Be hits even harder for me personally and songs Plastic 100°C and Timmy’s Prayer are some of my favourite ever. Album is a classic.
