    Really appreciated your explanation of no seam or hem allowances. As someone who must make adjustments to all patterns I now have a greater appreciation for no seam allowances. Thanks for another great video.

    What a good idea, Karina. It is an excellent way to teach the block method. Even better than the "Vogue pattern" which was used over three decades ago. The concept of "no seam allowances" to begin is a much better technique and even the SEASONED sewist can learn a great deal. Also, the concept of using an existing pattern to fashion one's own block is less stressful to the sewist as there is a place to begin. I have seen people turned off when told they can make their own block from scratch.
    You will be providing an excellent opportunity to not only the newer sewist but also for the seasoned sewist who has just learned to adjust the big four patterns for fit. Making one's own block has so much more potential for a greater fit and a more professional look.
    Wonderful teaching and learning opportunity for all. You are a sweetheart.
    Cheers and happy sewing. JoAn

      Nard Ackinon thank you so much. It’s what I thought. Taking the step to starting a block from scratch is not an easy one for many and I feel that what i show can be more accessible.... so many options!

    I have always been curious about Marfy and it seemed too complicated when I began sewing. Your guidance has been very good. Thanks for taking the time to do this for us. I will give it a go. I will follow your instructions and see what I can do!

    Karina - thank you for this information. I will print this out and follow along. Since I don't have much sewing time, I might be way behind your instructions - but I'm very excited for this sew along! Exciting!

    Great video series Karina, looking forward to how you get on with Marfy. I had a couple requests for a sew a long, but I haven't tried it yet, so I definitely will refer people to your video. I will try Marfy one day, they have some pretty interesting design details on their patterns.

    Cool, I didn't know Marfy was an Italian company. I assume they're for more advanced sewists since they assume you're pretty comfortable with garment construction? I actually put my pattern to freezer paper the other day (according to your method) and cut out my muslin this morning. I'm pretty stoked to try it out:) Nice that Marfy offers this basic skirt block though. I always learn new tips from watching your videos:)

    Thank you for such detailed information! I'm really excited for this series, as I have always admired the way you hack things and wished I could do this myself! With a little 'hand holding' from you, I won't be so scared to give it a try! Do you have any plans to show how to make other types of 'blocks', say, a simple top or bodice? Thank you, thank you for this! As always, TFS xx

    Karina...I've downloaded the pattern, but the sizing is too big. Starting at 42 cm = just about a size 16, do the Marfy patterns in your experience come smaller? I'll double check the site,but I may just have to scale the pattern down (it will be my first time)

    Hi Karina, I drafted your sklirt block and am happy with it but I did wonder if you printed two blocks, one for knit and one for woven? Or if you printed just one, was it the 50? Thanks so much for your videos. This is my favorite channel because I love the way you use basic blocks to make variations. My experience with trying to make different PDF patterns has been that I have to do so many modifications (forward shoulder, drop shoiulder, etc etc) that I totally am redrafting everything anyway so I really want to do your method instead. Jayne

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  6 лет назад

      Jayne Burdeshaw yes. Two blocks. The only thing that really changes is the circumference when you have a stable knit and you need a tad of negative ease.....all the other features like the distance between waist and full hip (in my case 20cm) does not change.

      Thanks. I have a question about the wanted tee you sewed awhile back. But maybe I should ask it on that video`? So the answer is available for others to see? What do you prefer?
