Really happy with the stealth gameplay, the lighting mechanics seems properly unitized, hiding in shallow waters was great to see. My favorite part is seeing the Assassin dragging that woman and taking her down non stealthily. Making non-lethal runs even more viable
@perrykeel9888 it's just illogical why they'd say turn off. It's not a light switch it's a lantern with a fire. Explain how you turn off a flame and maybe people will take it less seriously
I love the brutal finishing animations that appears to show after every kill of an enemy, instead of them just dropping like in origins-valhalla. It’s little things like that, that make me excited to play this game

Its weird that they have not mentioned the templars. I just hope that in this game there is an actual overarching villain that you target and not only a name on a list
I was hoping that Yasuke would be a Templar and that he and Naoe hunt each other. I’d like it to be that neither side is good nor evil, but the lines are blurred and gray and the player has to decide for themselves who’s right and wrong. But gamers usually aren’t fond of using brain power so I knew that idea would fall off the table.
@@hunterpope9028 the thing about rogue is that it didn’t really let you choose who was right. It just kind of said “hey the assassins are corrupt and wrong in this game and the Templars are in the right”
One new thing I noticed about shadows is that naoe primes her hidden blade as soon as she has a valid assassination target. Oddly enough, that’s exactly how air assassinations worked in AC Nexus which, despite its unorthodox platform, was one of the best Assassins Creed game in terms of gameplay, in my opinion.
@@jdicky2020 he's wrong. It is definately manual like the older games because it isn't "primed" every single time you are in range for assassinations. It only happens twice in the footage.
9:18 i think that camera angle was done just for the sake of cinematogrify of the trailer, normal air assassination will probably stay the same as it always was with camera following you
I don't really have a problem with Yasuke being a balls to the wall warrior type, Connor and Eivor where rubbish at stealth too and I loved playing as them, there's something special in seeing a horde of enemies crash against your impenetrable defence and being turned into mincemeat. I just hope he 'can' assassinate people quietly as well tough, nothing crazy but it'll be annoying if you 'have' to engage in combat every time to remove an isolated enemy, I'm sure that's not the case tough. It'll be absurd to not give him at least some way to engage in stealth like the previous "loud" protagonists could. Naoe is great tough, love all of the different ways to manipulate and navigate the environment and the fact that they are reminiscent of classic ninja techniques is hilarious. Gives her a unique identity and style allowing her to differentiate her from the rest of the Assassin protagonists which is very important for me, especially in such a long running series. What's the point in changing playable characters in every game if they all end up feeling the same, y'know? Overall I am positive, now if I could only actually get a damn PS5...
Connor was a specialist at hunting in the forests around his home and moving quietly at tree level, it was a huge part of his backstory in game and it makes sense he'd be less familiar with more urban environments
Ps5 price should drop again soon because the pro is coming out in a few months. ☺️. Hope u get one. I’m gonna sell mine for pretty cheap when the pro releases.
@@rougenarwhal8378It's not just that, Connor isn't particularly good at sneaking in forests and meadows either, aside from tree running he is mostly helpless on ground level. I think it's more of a case of gameplay /story integration, something AC does all the time and is rarely appreciated. Connor is just not a subtle man, he is the type of person to kick down Thomas Hickey's door brandishing a knife when he's going after his life, the type of man who will charge trough a battlefield to reach his target, the type of man who will bombard a fort with cannon fire as a diversion to sneak inside, the type of man who will walk up to Charles Lee while he's giving a eulogy to a huge crowd with full intention to gut him right there in full view of everyone. I could go on, but my point is Connor is not the type of person who will gather information and patiently stalk a target for days waiting for an opening to strike, he's much more likely to brute force his way trough relying on his training and conditioning to see it trough more then any subterfuge could. He is a warrior, a damn good one too, like Eivor and (seemingly) Yasuke. None of these characters 'need' to be stealthy because it's just not who they are and the gameplay reflects that. Of course by personal experience the AC fan base is more interested in iconography and familiar aesthetics then distinct characterization of their heroes so I can't imagine Yasuke being a unique protagonist will be appreciated by the majority of them as much as me but that's life.
Cuz we are actually ac fans, the others didn’t plan on buying this game anyway. Regardless of yasuke. They are the same ones tht talked shit on Valhalla and never played it.
Considering Oda Nobunaga gets murdered and betrayed, it pretty much sets him up as a Julius Caesar is a Templar in Origins. I’m calling it the daimyo who betrays him is gonna be an Assassin. He’s definitely the main bad guy
One thing i'm liking specifically in the combat that i haven't seen mentioned before, is the return of the kill animations on each enemy. It's been a long time since i've seen that in an assassin's creed game.
i love Naoes movement, it looks so smooth. here and there are a bit not so smooth moments, but its not the final build. the open world is beautiful. i really like the map because its not full of icons and bloated with stuff. i hope it remains like this till the game is out. i hyped for Shadows and Outlaws. Ubi maybe cooked really good this year!
@@llama6394 I think the animation goes way back to bayek. I don't have much of a problem with it but new animations would be very nice. Just praying it happens
My main takeaway is that they seem passionate with this game. This had more gameplay changes and actual assassin content than the past 4 games. Small stuff like Bringing back the ability to casually pull out your hidden blade whenever you want like the pre 2014 games, and that underwater breathing device shows me they’re having fun with this and actually like the franchise
I’ve been playing through the games lately and new animations and mechanics is something they were sorely missing, so it’s cool to see them introducing new stuff here to keep things interesting.
One little thing I like that I’ve not seen anyone mention is how Naoe seemingly releases her hidden blade whenever the assassination prompt shows up, so she stalks her enemies with the blade drawn, however I’d like this even more if it’s a button we can press to just have it out like in the older games
I would love them to reintroduce a new compelling modern day component. Start with those horrible abstergo missions and maybe your player character begins to uncover the true motives of abstergo and is contacted by an assassin that enlightens them to the cause and we as that abstergo agent help take down abstergo from the inside, trying to keep themselves hidden as a mole as more and more suspicion of you gathers.
Especially how the seasons and stuff will effect what you can do. Like being able to go underwater in every season but winter but then the water will be frozen. So they had to make the areas look different 4 times for each season
something i saw in a codename jade demo was a lack of good cutscenes and voicelines, and it was obvious that they would replace it since it was either text to speech or slideshows, maybe well see the same thing for the cutscenes in shadows when it releases, like mocapping the less important cutscenes and maybe even redoing the voicelines and voice acting
They really need to bring back Co-Op Single-Player games. Being able to play through a mission with your friend running distraction as Yasuke and you going in and assassinating the target as Naoe would have been peak.
It looks like they've taken quite a bit of inspiration from the Tenchu games, with those games having the same shadow mechanic as this and Aragami, hiding in the rafters/ceiling, turning off light sources in the environment using items, and using the bamboo shute to breath underwater. I just think it's pretty neat that someone's given attention to one of the more classic (if obscure by today's standards) stealth ninja games that I honestly wish would come back seeing GoT and (maybe) AC:S being this popular.
AC Chronicles have those mechanics but I guess I understand not a lot of people knew about it. As if anything, this game is like 3D version of AC Chronicles.
Damn I forgot about chronicles. Honestly good games, wish they had more of a spotlight. Also yeah, the game looks like a 3D version, even down to the UI for weapons and gadgets being similar.
1:13 the "red post" is called a Torii, commonly found at the entrance of or within a Shinto shrine, not an entrance to a village 4:48 Sakura takes place in spring between late March and early April but fresh persimmon normally found in autumn
@@TheSpaniardAssassin so my take on this? Yeah it might look good but also look really weird because things didn't add up. It would be nice to actually see they put effort to do some basic research on these minor detail, not just throwing things in
It's crazy that the cutscenes have gotten so stiff and static, like even in the first game when they have similar dialogue cutscenes, they still let you move the camera a bit, change the camera angle, and move the player character
Stealth looks great, but the combat looks quite slow paced with Yusuke. I love Valhalla's combat because I never have to wait for an enemy's attack first
He looks a little clunky still I think. My guess would be they designed for him later in design. I'd even go so far as to guess they didn't initially intend to HAVE a Samurai at all. Naoe's movements and combat looks loads smoother. Could be they'll have Yusuke's combat smoothed out by the time it releases..... Either way I don't plan to use him much. Naoe is the slickest Assassin that's ever Assassined frankly........ which I suppose you'd expect from a Ninja... but the Ninja shit really shined in her sequence.
I think that that was a presentation thing, rather than a gameplay thing. Presenter seemed to take his time through the combat so you can slowly process it. Also, he was using one of the heavier weapons. I think that you can slash through enemies pretty fast in-game with a sword and enough urgency.
@@matthewkendrick8280 ive seen content creators say they have stuff to share about social stealth soon, so i assume its in the game for naoe atleast, and naoe is confirmed by ubisoft to be part of the brotherhood
the special camera angles that appeared before the air assassination/hiding on the ceiling are probably either for the trailer or they will happen specifically for THAT spot in THAT mission because that air assassination is clearly the most obvious thing to do when u get there, not climb down and kill them and the hiding on the ceiling is also another obvious thing to do instead of running back and hiding
7:00 I also really liked the dynamic between the two characters in this cutscene, even tho it was so short, still looked really good, and I saw people complaining about nao’s va but I don’t see it
Something I’ve not seen noticed yet is the section in the gameplay where they look at the map you can see the abstergo logo in the top left corner. Maybe that hints at narratively if there’s a modern day that we aren’t with the assassins this time around?
Maybe we're back with the Initiates like in Unity and Syndicate, since Abstergo also released their version of the Animus as a video game console. Because at this point with the modern day story, I got no clue what the heck they're planning with Bassim/Loki and I won't be surprised they would continue and end it in a comic that not every AC fans care, again.
Given that you guys are unaware, you should try the Tenchu series. It's possibly on of their inspirations given that bamboo tube is one of the main tools of the characters in the game to stay underwater while hiding
9:19 i percive this as the earlier ac games assassination camera angles that happen, i hope you have the option to have these on or turn them off. Again on the player expression side if the angles are varied and not just the same one it could be huge.
One way to limit long range assassinations from becoming overpowered is to actually make a bit realistic were enemies dropping so hard that everyone nearby can hear and raise the alarm, gonna be so beautifully changing... I also wish that wheellocks (or matchlocks) to be one shot kill weapons that takes ages to reload, just like ac3 where you can use it as last ditch weapon that turnes the tides of the combat.
As a stealth focused player that enjoys combat from time to time, I only hope I won't need to be an enforcer with Yasuke and can be more fluid with him. Maybe different weapons and stances may enable it.
When looking at the gameplay showcase, it looks like they studied Ghost of Tsushima for certain mechanics and tools used in the trailer, though they did use certain tools that Ghost did not have but fit with the historical time period. That’s not a bad thing, but if the story isn’t well developed the gameplay can only do so much.
No mention or showcase of double assassination (might be apart of the tanto-hidden blade combat special assassination considering that mechanic was mentioned)..I wasn’t expecting the parkour to be overly special and technical (feudal Japan doesn’t have room for technical levels of parkour in its architecture)…. I wonder how the cover system is going to work
The problem I've always had with Assassins Creed is the lack of fluidity and mobility of the Parkour. I feel like an assassin should be extremely flexible and acrobatic. I hope with this the ninja female will feel like a shinobi actually using ninjutsu with parkour elements.
I actually thought that the stealth and parkour looks absolutely amazing so far. It looks very fast and pretty smooth, although the animation can use a lot of touching up and improvement. I like the different weapons for assassinations, as well as how important the lighting and weather is for stealth. They mentioned how weather affects stealth, so I’m wondering how stealth in snow will be. I’m hoping it’ll be harder since the ai can maybe notice your footsteps in the snow and track you down? As for parkour it looks very fast compared to the previous games, maybe we will finally get some good parkour since unity? Finally, I’m just hoping we aren’t forced to play some missions only as Yasuke or only Naoe. I hope we can choose to play the full game with 1 character if we want to. Personally Yasuke seems boring to me when I can also play stealth with Naoe as well. If I wanna play as a samurai I’d rather play ghost of tsushima. Lastly I’m hoping we’ll see some good templar action and at least a decent story. If that’s the case then this might finally be a really good ac game! (Still as always keeping my hopes low since it’s Ubisoft)
Sounds like you never played Tenchu because that game feature ALOT of the same mechanics from this game. Absolutely amazing series. This is the first AC ive been excited for in a long long-time .
The stealth looked very fun. My only issues were the parry animations: yasuke stands completely still when parrying/blocking and it looks quite stiff. There should be greater impact on contact that forces yasuke to take a step back. Also I thought the parkour animations would be completely overhauled but the we can still see Eivor's climbing and the character still falls down like a sack of potatoes.
the season system could be like a difficulty setting before each mission like the equivalent of easy mode could be spring and the equivalent of medium difficulty could be fall kinda hard being summer and hardest difficulty at winter
Very true... good to see your opinion about this topic, and Mirage was relaying on the AC 1 nostalgia, but this is a little new Check aragami 2 and For Honor, mix together will turn into this game
Bro I’m desperate to see ur full assassins creed game ranking I’d love to see how ur ranking compares to mine I’ve played all the games fully except syndicate and Valhalla
That breathing through piece of straw/bamboo actually Tenchu Z I believe, idk ik it was the one on the 360 that had that. In fact a lot of Naoue stealth gameplay reminded me of Tenchu which has me very excited I remember so many times going to my grandma's after-school and playing Tenchu in my cousins PS2
Seeing how they let you choose Charakters mid mission it might be possible that they will make yasuke/naoe depending on who you pick the final boss . Would be a good curveball from ubisoft in my opinion and it would also make for some interesting conflicts throughout the story
I like the "black and white with red blood" for the main kills... but I sure do hope they polish it artistically because right now it does not look "clean." The head feels like it's a completely separate entity on an already headless model - which it probably is - but can they at least make it look like a beheading? It's already black and white.
Assassin's Creed is strange for me, even if they ever 'return to roots' the damage has been done in my opinion so I just internally accept AC1-Revelations as the true, core Assassin's Creed games and then rest as fun thought experiments/ideas that are vaguely AC related. So, looking at it from that lens this does look like a really enjoyable game, destructive environments, nimble and versatile stealth, weighty and impactful combat - looks like decent fun for what it is. Thank you for this breakdown I appreciate it
I can't wait for these new mechanics to be in one more AC game until Ubi decides to just dump it. Naval combat, parkour down, assassin recruits, certain past and modern day characters, equipment, customization, HQ upgrading, social stealth focus, catch ledge. I can go on. I love this series, but it lacks a core focus and identity. I'm ready to give up on it and move on.
There's a few things I hope are changed, like the UI, Do we really need a constant reminder of the name of the place we're in? Same thing with the quest outline, I think if they just had those elements pop up for a couple seconds after opening a menu like the map or inventory would be better. I think they should also change up the section of directional buttons on the left, have them be turned into an icon for the weapon you're holding, your health, and maybe the number of healing items you have and that's it, we don't need both weapons, the health, the yellow squares, and the whistle button all visible. Hopefully they'll tweak the rope swinging, Ghost of Tsushima did it perfectly, so having the swinging be more showy and weightless just looks wrong to me. Speaking of physics, sometimes the parkour looks snappy or choppy, I really think Ubisoft needs to remake the parkour system from the ground up, and this is technically a nitpick, but the kusarigama assassination doesn't make any sense, Naoe somehow jumps 15 feet and lands on top of the guard. Another thing they need to tweak is to change the "turn off" prompt to fit the lighting implement, assuming we play in the modern day and can turn lights off the prompt "turn off" would make sense, but not in feudal Japan. Overall I see the potential this game has and I hope it isn't squandered.
Great video! For Shadows, I think it might've been better if this game included Yasuke's hometown, at least (if not a large portion of his historically presumed home country), at the start - like how Norway is in AC Valhalla (there's Vinland too). Then they should've marketed this game as set in part of Africa and part of Japan, as they are only doing a few regions of Japan instead of the whole country, which is good, in my opinion, but that's a whole other topic. Like a more modern version of how Ezio travelled from Italy to Constantinople, in modern day Türkiye. Then we'd see Yasuke facing a culture shock and being alienated, which would allow us to bond with him more, as the audience and player. Then we would actually want to help him, and etc. I hope the writing is good for this one. AC has so much untapped potential, which is left ignored because of terrible writers, management, and greedy executives.
Why did the stealth look kind of.....GOOD. I mean sure it isn't perfect, and nothing ground breaking. But it looks like that stealth will actually be an emphasis.
The Ninja character and gameplay are EXACTLY what an AC game must be. Same as the stealth aspect in games such as Splinter Cell and Thief series. Samurai were noblemen, no females allowed in their ranks, following a strict code of honor, they were elite soldiers, they weren't assassins. Ninja on the other hand, had no moral strict code, they were spies/black ops/assassins and there were female ninja as well, Kunoichi.
on the cutscenes and facial animations, yea it stood out to me too how bad they were. and then i watched jorraptors live reaction and they commented how good it was. i was like “am i insane?” lmao
To be fair Jorraptor is the same dude who said there's no point of no return in Stellar Blade when they literally tell you that. So he doesn't know what he's talking about in general
it's fine if shadows is going in an rpg direction, i just hope they manage to deliver the assassin fantasy as opposed to generic warrior protagonist stealth is looking promising and combat looks fine, so i'm cautiously excited rn
@@TheSpaniardAssassinI'll definitely be playing as Naoe as much as possible but... I like the idea of characters saying what's going on "Like Naoe saying it's almost night" it APPEARS that who you pick for what mission might be more or less difficult depending on the situation 🤔
3:25 I think the facial animation are actually pretty decent, and over the shoulder is stil much better then what valhalla and origins had, where the camera would just pan out to show two characters talking.
Could be better if yasuke was a spy because he was close with one of the most feared generals in Japan history That could’ve been a advantage if he also carrying out task for ninjas for the brotherhood like in ac brotherhood But who knows anymore it’s been done now Other than that combat is kinda cool and the stealth is dope with new features now Hope this gonna set a new standard for the next and other ac games
It was pretty good but unfortunately it didn't wow me as much as I wanted it to, the quality of the game still feels like it belongs to the RPG era of AC games, like I know its an RPG game but this was meant to be the next gen/level of AC. I didn't see any parkour improvement, even saw reused walking, climbing and jumping animations. The new stealth mechanics are nice ig. The npc cutscene animations was also not very good. Naoe's gameplay is much better than Yasuke's. Still interested but don't feel as excited as I was for Mirage.
I just want this game to wow us, and feel fresh and innovative, just like that AC Unity E3 gameplay demo (the one with Arno parkouring down Notre Dame Cathedral and air assassinating from a guillotine) did all those years ago. Regarding the narrative side of things, i hope Naoe is a Connor Kenway- esque character in terms of characterisation, without the flaws of the writing of Connor. I hope we get the outfit from the teaser trailer, the one with the traditional beaked hood and long sleeves. I hope we get double assassinations back in this game, but overall i like the innovations with stealth gameplay.
If you like assassin's creed shadows stealth gameplay reveal, then you should check out the Tenchu series. That's what the game reminds of, plus splinter cell and metal gear. If it didn't have the title assassin's creed, i would've thought it was a new Tenchu game. I was excited when unity introduced a crouch mechanic into the series, and now I'm excited to see shadows introduce prone mechanic into the series. Which i know is a weird thing to be excited about.
This is the only yt account whose review I'd watch, the overwhelming negativity towards ac shadows is unreal, nonsensical hate. But your review is cool. It's not biased over something and there's a sense for the game to do well
@@TheSpaniardAssassin yes but not cuz of what the gameplay is showing or even the story, just cuz there's a *black* protagonist in JAPAN. People were spreading rumours that Yasuke is black+gay and calling Ubisoft woke... Like how da fuq did they get that info when nothing has even been said?
It’s meh, everything they hyped feels extremely half baked just like everything Ubisoft does. Destructible bamboos are PS2 tier, they literally disappear into nothingness. Proning feels unnecessary when crouching speed of AC is already running speed of other games. Shadow based stealth will make it even easier than older ACs because guards couldn’t see Naoe in front of them when she was in shadows 😂 Rest of the game looks like a poor man’s Tsushima down to the combat animations and effects, spear glint during the attacks are 1:1 same as Tsushima. I was interested for Shadows during leaks but gameplay trailer doesn’t look like it’s a step up from Valhalla and a downgrade compared to Tsushima, even the graphics. It looks about the same as Rise of Ronin and everyone shat on it’s graphics. Forgot to mention, where is parkour? One aspect of AC that was still unique to AC feels even worse than Valhalla imo. It’s like they wanted to make a worse version of GoT so badly they forgot about both parkour and social stealth. Wouldn’t be surprised if they removed social stealth again and parkour is same as or worse than Valhalla with grappling doing the work for you. Not like it matters when none of the nuAC games has buildings taller than 2 stories. Also how the hell door assassination is impressive? It was also directly taken from Tsushima but looks worse in every aspect. Is every AC youtuber from small to big is on Ubisoft payroll or something?
nice vid! I'm honestly not impressed at all. All the "good" changes they did could've been done in 2016 too, it's not that crazy. (i think you can crawl anytime tho as i have observed it while she's getting out of the grass into the pond) I'm most likely just gonna watch it through and not buy it. My hope is still in hexe, let's go Darby!
My biggest issue with this game is that it's clearly created for the players who just want to play historical RPGs rather than the true fans of Assassin's Creed.
The "Empty world syndrome" is what Ghost of Tsushima suffers from. The game looks absolutely gorgeous but damn its open-world design is bafflingly empty, along that repetitive side quests.
One thing I hope the game does is make the combat more risk-reward kind of loop. In Odyssey they generated difficulty in combat by making enemies damage sponges but here we say Yasuke killing enemies in just a few hits. If that's the case for most of the game I think it'd be really fun if enemies also deal huge damage to you so you have to pay attention to their attacks and not just mash buttons like Quebec's other games.
To a general stand point I agree with you. From a gameplay perspective it was awesome, the Naoe part was absurd. From a graphic standpoint I'm disappointed, I would like to have a "Unity" type of Graphics and detail, and an Artistic Direction more concerned to give a Japanese Animation Style (such as Ac2 that from an Art Direction choiche resemble Leonardo's paintings). I miss that immersive environment, instead it's like Odyssey and some Valhalla. Mirage it was better graphically speaking. I'm also disappointed from the tone of the game, It reminds me a lot of Syndicate or Odyssey, I hope it will not be goofy, but Philosophical and profound, but from the dialogues, I see very poor writing and some cringy phrases.... By the way, I think it's better than I thought, but it's problematic that from a technical and artistical level Ghost of Tsushima was better and this will be exclusive from Next-Gen. I'm also very concerned about Assassins/Templar missing, it would be a radical mistake. I will probably buy it, but I'm already sure I will not fall in love with it, it will not be something like Mirage or Origins or Unity, games that are love for my eyes.
I always appreciate your insights but nah mate, already clear that this games story is going be nonsense, the way the mission that they're presenting for a introductory trailer is this garbage. If you go back to the gameplay trailer , around 6:30 time mark " So now we know who he worked for '' One of the dumbest lines I've heard in game history. A samurai policing a town works for the Daimyo that governs that town, who lives in that towns castle, wow, what a reveal! Could have never thought of that one mate. The missions coming after this, so looking forward to it!
Seems interesting but I cant kick the feeling that they took the executions from for honor and integrated that as the kills for kills in assassin creed reusing the same animation instead of making new ones along with combat that reminds me of for honor also
The snorkel, prone crawl, and rope swing assassination show that there are actually some new ideas here. I think I'll give this a try. Maybe I'll buy a month of Ubisoft+ instead of buying full price, just in case.
odyssey is my favorite assassins creed game, yeah yeah unpopular opinion. but because of that it only makes me more excited for shadows since its done by the same team
I really hope this game has a modern day and continues where Valhalla and Mirage left off. I wanna see what happened with William and basim. I don't think it will have any but I'd hope so.
I’ll be honest, I was not thinking about buying the game before this, but the stealth section and the seasonal changes are actually really cool and I might buy the game when it goes on sale.
Naoe looks like shes going to be incredible to play as. It looks like she has a good variety of tools and abilities at her disposal. Its too bad some people at ubisoft think just a female protagonist wouldnt do well. Cause if it was just her i can guarantee you A) the whole thing with Yasuke wouldnt be a thing if he was just an NPC and B) she's what you would think of when you think assassin/shinobi. @@jdicky2020 it looks like an automatic thing. As soon as an enemy is highlighted the hidden blade comes out.
@@jdicky2020 he's wrong. It is definately manual like the older games because it isn't "primed" every single time you are in range for assassinations. It only happens twice in the footage.
Npc flashes 10 feet from her she can teleport to her with sticle that is why she flashes
9:37
9:18 i think that camera angle was done just for the sake of cinematogrify of the trailer, normal air assassination will probably stay the same as it always was with camera following you
lets hope
This is the first comment section I’m been into were they weren’t just trying to completely 💩on my boy Yasuke 😂

Good call
didn't they already have the lore for this? maybe spoilers i don't remember but he aided the templars and then the assassin's killed him
the ability to manually unsheathe weapons and use them for assassinations again is fucking siiiiiiiiick🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
very very cool
Half the fun of having a katana is sheathing and unsheathing it, so it makes sense.
One thing i'm liking specifically in the combat that i haven't seen mentioned before, is the return of the kill animations on each enemy.
It's been a long time since i've seen that in an assassin's creed game.
animations look great
When the Spaniel is hyped, you know it’s good.
yeah boiiii
i love Naoes movement, it looks so smooth. here and there are a bit not so smooth moments, but its not the final build. the open world is beautiful. i really like the map because its not full of icons and bloated with stuff. i hope it remains like this till the game is out. i hyped for Shadows and Outlaws. Ubi maybe cooked really good this year!
There are still animations carried over from eivor like the climb and drop down which I really dislike
Stabbing through a door, using a straw, kunai, shuriken, we've seen this in Tenchu. It looks like a blend of Tenchu and Ghost of Tsushima
looks epic
One little thing I like that I’ve not seen anyone mention is how Naoe seemingly releases her hidden blade whenever the assassination prompt shows up, so she stalks her enemies with the blade drawn, however I’d like this even more if it’s a button we can press to just have it out like in the older games
Good catch man
I would love them to reintroduce a new compelling modern day component.
The gameplay looked amazing. Really hoping this will live up to the hype and bring back excitement to Assassin’s Creed
let's hope!
Honestly I'm very excited about the new weather and physics systems.
@WannabeAssassinit would make me wanna pause to customize to match the season 😄
Especially how the seasons and stuff will effect what you can do. Like being able to go underwater in every season but winter but then the water will be frozen. So they had to make the areas look different 4 times for each season
11:35 the first time i saw that bamboo straw mechanism was in tenchu (PS1). so glad to see it back.
it looks so fun
something i saw in a codename jade demo was a lack of good cutscenes and voicelines, and it was obvious that they would replace it since it was either text to speech or slideshows, maybe well see the same thing for the cutscenes in shadows when it releases, like mocapping the less important cutscenes and maybe even redoing the voicelines and voice acting
I am surprised why your channel didn’t get recommended. Top notch AC content!!
I appreciate that!
Ghost of Tsushima has almost the exact mecanic of assassinating someone through paper doors/walls
thats awesome
so does all the tenchu games
yes because paper walls are fragile and very exploitable
1:13 the "red post" is called a Torii, commonly found at the entrance of or within a Shinto shrine, not an entrance to a village
4:48 Sakura takes place in spring between late March and early April but fresh persimmon normally found in autumn
thank you!
@@TheSpaniardAssassin so my take on this? Yeah it might look good but also look really weird because things didn't add up. It would be nice to actually see they put effort to do some basic research on these minor detail, not just throwing things in
yes you are right i hope this was a scene of Yasuke leaving a shinto shrine
It's crazy that the cutscenes have gotten so stiff and static, like even in the first game when they have similar dialogue cutscenes, they still let you move the camera a bit, change the camera angle, and move the player character
its so weird
Stealth looks great, but the combat looks quite slow paced with Yusuke. I love Valhalla's combat because I never have to wait for an enemy's attack first
we'll have to see him with different weapon types
Yeah the stealth does look good but we didn’t see any social stealth. And sure we saw an Assassin, but no brotherhood.
@@matthewkendrick8280 ive seen content creators say they have stuff to share about social stealth soon, so i assume its in the game for naoe atleast, and naoe is confirmed by ubisoft to be part of the brotherhood
the special camera angles that appeared before the air assassination/hiding on the ceiling are probably either for the trailer or they will happen specifically for THAT spot in THAT mission because that air assassination is clearly the most obvious thing to do when u get there, not climb down and kill them
and the hiding on the ceiling is also another obvious thing to do instead of running back and hiding
The using bamboo to breathe underwater mechanic was in an old PS1 ninja game, Tenchu 2.
Maybe that hints at narratively if there’s a modern day that we aren’t with the assassins this time around?
ooo good catch
Maybe we're back with the Initiates like in Unity and Syndicate, since Abstergo also released their version of the Animus as a video game console.
Because at this point with the modern day story, I got no clue what the heck they're planning with Bassim/Loki and I won't be surprised they would continue and end it in a comic that not every AC fans care, again.
Given that you guys are unaware, you should try the Tenchu series. It's possibly on of their inspirations given that bamboo tube is one of the main tools of the characters in the game to stay underwater while hiding
Will check it out!
Yeah. The one year calendar cycle reminds me of the Seasons extension pack in the Sims 4.
Loved your video as always ❤❤
Thank you!
i read that Naoe's father is like connected to the creed so maybe we get them at the start and hopefully continue with them
that woud be cool
I liked the animus style menu, I hated when two ladies bowed and they were ass to ass bowing in opposite directions.
that was pretty hot imo
I wonder how the cover system is going to work
The straw breathing underwater was in some Tenchu games. Naoe feels a lot like she's a Tenchu character and I'm all for it.
Thats a cool throwback
0:58 does Yasuke skirt move at 30 FPS?
Sounds like you never played Tenchu because that game feature ALOT of the same mechanics from this game. Absolutely amazing series. This is the first AC ive been excited for in a long long-time .
Looks so fun, great change the way they've done the stealth and shadows. Interested to see how the open combat will feel, if its slow or whatever.
I think the lack of reaction when he parries is to sell the fact that yasuke is a fucking unit. Would be nice to see a tad more tho.
Finally get to play as a Hulk not just fighting them!
😂
It looks like you'll be able to extend the hidden blade at will, which is a small detail, but if that's the case, that would be so cool
I love stuff like that
the season system could be like a difficulty setting before each mission
like the equivalent of easy mode could be spring
and the equivalent of medium difficulty could be fall
kinda hard being summer
and hardest difficulty at winter
The crawling and breathing straw mechanics remind me of the way you could hide in plain side in Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
Its so cool
It looks so promising but for the love of god can’t we just get unity’s parkour, it’s makes like 50% of the game feel so much better
Also the stabbing a guard through the paper walls thing it’s straight outta Ghosts Of Tsushima
Very true... good to see your opinion about this topic, and Mirage was relaying on the AC 1 nostalgia, but this is a little new
Check aragami 2 and For Honor, mix together will turn into this game
Glad you enjoyed it!

A lot of people are agreeing with this
Seeing how they let you choose Charakters mid mission it might be possible that they will make yasuke/naoe depending on who you pick the final boss .
Yeah i agree needs some work
Because it’s after ac2 they don’t have to cut the finger off but does that mean we might get double hidden blades
Greetings, Mentor. I will be heading to the Spanish Bureau in Andalusia this month.
safe trip brother
19:08 you just summarized the plot of A LOT of Ubisoft games lmao
it's so basic
Thank you!
@@TheSpaniardAssassin no worries
Why did the stealth look kind of.....GOOD. I mean sure it isn't perfect, and nothing ground breaking. But it looks like that stealth will actually be an emphasis.
Hoping we can play the game with all the HUD turned off. Loved the parkour and stealth section. I am cautiously optimistic.
HUD off would slap
In comparison to Odyssey, Valhalla and Mirage, it is better. That's not even a proper cutscene, it's a side quest cutscene.

3:25 I think the facial animation are actually pretty decent, and over the shoulder is stil much better then what valhalla and origins had, where the camera would just pan out to show two characters talking.
it can always be worse i guess
Could be better if yasuke was a spy because he was close with one of the most feared generals in Japan history
That could’ve been a advantage if he also carrying out task for ninjas for the brotherhood like in ac brotherhood
But who knows anymore it’s been done now
Other than that combat is kinda cool and the stealth is dope with new features now
Hope this gonna set a new standard for the next and other ac games
I hope we get double assassinations back in this game, but overall i like the innovations with stealth gameplay.
so far the stealth wowed me
If you like assassin's creed shadows stealth gameplay reveal, then you should check out the Tenchu series.
Couple people mentioned that!
This is the only yt account whose review I'd watch, the overwhelming negativity towards ac shadows is unreal, nonsensical hate. But your review is cool. It's not biased over something and there's a sense for the game to do well
Is it getting negative reviews?!
@@TheSpaniardAssassin yes but not cuz of what the gameplay is showing or even the story, just cuz there's a *black* protagonist in JAPAN. Not every reviewer ofc, people such as yourself keep an honest review being both sceptic and optimistic but others really just use Yasuke as a means to downplay the game.
Is every AC youtuber from small to big is on Ubisoft payroll or something?
lmao the bamboos do look like ps2 lmao
nice vid!
I'm honestly not impressed at all. All the "good" changes they did could've been done in 2016 too, it's not that crazy. (i think you can crawl anytime tho as i have observed it while she's getting out of the grass into the pond)
I'm most likely just gonna watch it through and not buy it.
It seems like it will here
I hope Yasake can change outfits, I believe that one outfit is gonna get old as well.. But I love the looks and gameplay
I hoe he can wear a hood
I always appreciate your insights but nah mate,
already clear that this games story is going be nonsense, the way the mission that they're presenting for a introductory trailer is this garbage.
If you go back to the gameplay trailer , around 6:30 time mark
" So now we know who he worked for ''
One of the dumbest lines I've heard in game history.
A samurai policing a town works for the Daimyo that governs that town, who lives in that towns castle, wow, what a reveal! Could have never thought of that one mate.
The missions coming after this, so looking forward to it!
Seems interesting but I cant kick the feeling that they took the executions from for honor and integrated that as the kills for kills in assassin creed reusing the same animation instead of making new ones along with combat that reminds me of for honor also
reuse reduce recycle
The snorkel, prone crawl, and rope swing assassination show that there are actually some new ideas here. I think I'll give this a try. Maybe I'll buy a month of Ubisoft+ instead of buying full price, just in case.
very fair
Tenchu z flashbacks....I'm gonna cry
the nostalgia must be real
odyssey is my favorite assassins creed game, yeah yeah unpopular opinion. but because of that it only makes me more excited for shadows since its done by the same team
I really hope this game has a modern day and continues where Valhalla and Mirage left off. I wanna see what happened with William and basim. I don't think it will have any but I'd hope so.
I hope so too
I think naoe does too much back flips and it just slows her down
yeah they might get old
I’ll be honest, I was not thinking about buying the game before this, but the stealth section and the seasonal changes are actually really cool and I might buy the game when it goes on sale.
Loved the expert credentials
😂😂
Naoe looks like shes going to be incredible to play as. It looks like she has a good variety of tools and abilities at her disposal. Its too bad some people at ubisoft think just a female protagonist wouldnt do well. Cause if it was just her i can guarantee you A) the whole thing with Yasuke wouldnt be a thing if he was just an NPC and B) she's what you would think of when you think assassin/shinobi. It was so easy to pull this off but ubisoft will ubisoft after all. Like you said im cautiously optimistic about the game but we'll see
