22 July 2011 The Norway Attack 69 teenagers.on asummer camp and 9 people inside/outside a goverment building were murdered Susannes contribution from a memorial concert to honnor the victims. What a beautiful and emotionally performace ! Takk Susanne , du skaper noe helt spesielt i meg når jeg hører denne sangen ! Masse kjærlighet til deg !
She is singing about Norway (mitt lille land - my little country), where the mountains rise into the sky, where there are fjords and wooden houses... Where silence lives and dreams come true. Basically singing beautifully about Norways nature and culture.
A lot of people also don't know the context with Utøya/Oslo ceremony, makes it even more heartquenching. Strangely about this national treasure of a song, Ole Paus wrote it as a means of making Norway join the EU! Glad that didn't happen as our nature + culture would be way more threathened... Together we must stand and fall.
Equalpower If you don't mind, could you explain me why the nature and culture of Norway could be threatened if Norway joins to Europe Union? I'm very interested in how norwegians see Europe. Thanks in advance.
I used half an hour back and forth to write you, then PC blackouts of course. I guess it don't matter too much. In short terms, privatization of our natural resources, unchecked immigration and spendings on "fake" wars will be the downfall of it all. I advice you to see John Perkins - Confessions of an Economic Hit Man. Best advice I could give to anyone without losing ground contact. We hope to get to know Europe better in the spirit of brotherhood, while we all still control our own domain and future. Have a nice weekend :]
Equalpower Hello! I'm so sorry, I didn't realize you answered me. It's completely difficult to explain why joining in Europe Union or not is a good idea. For example, Spain (my country) has had to reject many industry because Europe had other plans for us, but It's also true that Europe has supported to others companies here. So, I don't know what it's better because every country did a election, and we can't know what it would have happened if we would have chosen other possibility. About the privatization of natural resources, I have to say you have reason. For example about the water privatization. In my view, this wave of privatizations comes from a global ideology, specially from USA. But It's also incredible how the immigration is changing the mind of Sweden people, for example, (and others countries like Spain). And It's incredible how they are privatizing their schools and their public healthcare insurance (I remember Capio) because they don't want that immigrants use it for free. Anyway, despite of that, I admire Norway because of the nature, music, traditions, etc. and I want my country will be just a bit like Norway, if we want to look like other country I think Norway is the best choice. The way they manage the petroleum is just a perfect reason to follow them.
Reminds me of the words to the national anthem of my Mother's homeland, Czech Republic. "Where my home is, where my homeland is, Water roars across the meadows, Pinewoods rustle among crags, The garden is glorious with spring blossom, Paradise on earth it is to see. And this is that beautiful land, The Czech land, my home, The Czech land, my home!"
My Little Land (orig. title: Mitt lille land) My little land A small place, a handful of peace thrown out among tundra and fjords My little land Where tall mountains stand placed in between houses and humans and words And where quietness and dreams grow like an echo in barren soil My little land where the ocean strokes mildly and softly like caresses from coast to coast My little land Where stars pass by and become a landscape on daybreak While the night stands pale and silent My little land A small place, a handful of peace Thrown out among tundra and fjords My little land Where tall mountains stand placed in between houses and humans and words And where quietness and dreams grow like an echo in barren soilwhere quietness and dreams grow like an echo in barren soil
John Doe Hope it helps a little bit My little country A little place, a handful of peace Spread out between plateaus and fjordsMy little country Where high mountains stand planted Between houses and people and words And where silence and dreams grow Like an echo in meagre earthMy little country Where the sea strokes gentle and soft Like a caressing from coast to coastMy little country Where stars glide past And become a landscape when it gets light While the night stands pale and silentMy little country A little place, a handful of peace Spread out between plateaus and fjordsMy little country Where high mountains stand planted Between houses and people and words And where silence and dreams grow Like an echo in meagre earth Taken from lyricstranslate.com/en/mitt-lille-land-my-little-country.html#ixzz3dGD37oZi
See the lyrics in the first comment of this thread, all non natives. A beautiful song about tender and breathtaking Norway. Sung here in the memorial concert for the massacre victims of 2011. Makes it sooo emotional and crushing, but uplifting too... 77 candles in clusters..
It reminds me a bit of "mijn vlakke land" van Jacques Brel. Nice to hear artists sing in their own language, even if I cannot understand. I feel it :-*
Nydelig versjon, mye finere enn Maria Menas versjon. To those wanting to understand the lyrics, here they are, translated (rather poorly) into English, but at least it'll give you an idea of what they mean. ;)
6oM6bI4 so pretty much any language you don't understand is unpleasant. You're absolutely, totally, positively, 100% clueless. And you're also judging this language by a song - which makes you an idiot.
Love this singer! The best voice ,nowadays❤

You are right, I could not agree more. :)

Begynner virkelig å like Susanne Sundførs fremførelse av denne sangen!
Oh my word. This woman is magical.
norwegians please take care of her, she is national treasure
My Little Land (orig. title: Mitt lille land)
My little land
A small place, a handful of peace
thrown out among tundra and fjords
My little land
Where tall mountains stand placed
in between houses and humans and words
And where quietness and dreams grow
like an echo in barren soil
My little land
where the ocean strokes mildly and softly
like caresses from coast to coast
My little land
Where stars pass by
and become a landscape on daybreak
While the night stands pale and silent
My little land
A small place, a handful of peace
Thrown out among tundra and fjords
My little land
Where tall mountains stand placed
in between houses and humans and words
And where quietness and dreams grow
like an echo in barren soilwhere quietness and dreams grow

I have no idea what she's singing about, but I love her voice and songs, and could listen to hear sing about anything and would love it

Where high mountains stand planted
Between houses and people and words

She makes me want to go living in the deep north. Down the sun, up the long, cold, snowy winters!

Utrolig trist :(
No skill
behring breivik is hidden composer

this language is unpleasant. Which nation got so bad luck?
Norwegian, please don't say such here as this song is dedicated to terrorist attacks of 22.July
