Yes, a thru lane would allow vehicles to get from the office side to the commercial side without having to exit the airport to use the roundabout down the road.
Biffa in case you didn’t notice: your line arrows at the exit from the roundabout in the new area are set in a way that cars are only able to to turn right towards the arch. I reckon you should fix the left lane to going straight rather than both lanes turning right

@Biffa: little tip on the metro line at 9:50. If you start from the airport and then connect the line to the hub, you can put it at the other side than the existing metrostop. This makes sure that both lines are not waiting on each other. By starting at the hub it is on the same side as the other line, potentially causing jams. It wont show you the option to move it to the other side if you start there.
With all those cyclists from the airport I wonder if the metro lines from the tearantual terminal to the city are broken due to it dropping again. You checked it was running from the airport to the terminal but not from the terminal to the city.
Shouldn't be dropping anymore since it happens when you purchase a new tile and he unlocked them all at once a while back so he would only need to fix it once.
Hiya Biffa! Love your content! I would suggest making the metros thru-lines through the Tearantula Hub. Especially coming from the old multi-platform train station going to the airport. I think it will carry a lot more people then- they are not fond of changing trains, neither would I. ;)

10:00 there are 2 lines, but the pedestrian walkway is inbetween both. so if you look at the tunnelentrance you can see the rails split. so to seperate both lines you need to put it a bit more up

4:28 When placing an airport, you want to get it as far away from population centres a possible. Having planes fly over the city is not unheard of, but it's not a very good idea in terms of noise pollution. I'd also suggest checking the slop of the approach path into the airport. Too steep and it becomes too dangerous. 3 degrees slope is normal, 6 degrees would be the upper limit. At 4:37, you'd definitely see some planes acting weird because of the mountain. It's a VERY BAD idea to put any tall buildings around the airport, especially extending outwards from the runways. You want to keep a clearance of around 80 to 160 metres (10-20 units in the game) before zoning anything, ensuring that there is adequate noise buffering. Even if you do zone near the airport, try to keep it low-density. You don't want aircraft flying 20 metres above the rooves of the houses.
Walkability and cycling idea: A pedestrian/cyclist highway connecting the new airport to that pedestrian/cyclist highway you have going on near the coast on the first areas you built would be incredible. I bet it would be heavily used!
Your fixed paths on the airport "entrance" junction prevent anyone going from one side of the airport services direct to the other... so they can't just got around the loop twice if they want... just an observation :)

This map just gets more and more interesting. The "fortified castle" looks like a 16th or 17th century naval fort, possibly built around an older - maybe medieval - castle. The other things are indeed WW2 fortifications, meaning that this area has been defended against attacks from the sea for up to 7-800 years. I'd almost like to suggest that you build some kind of "historical" district near the downtown area, with preserved older buildings etc, just to play up that theme. Do with that as you please, of course, but I think it could be fun both to build and to watch.
Biffa, have you ever watched Mayday: Air Disaster? If you have, you know that one episode had a plane slam into a mountain because of a computing error. One of your runways leads to a very, very big hill. Make sure your runway directionality is not pointing that way. Planes can circle once before landing, but can't if they run into that large hill. Those buildings nearby need some government-regulated height restrictions. Your city is mostly a combination of the US and UK, so I'll give you both. The US: FAA regulations state that 500ft or more is hazardous. UK: CAA regulations state that buildings over 491ft require aircraft warning lighting, and all development over 300ft should be approved by the DAP. What lovely regulations!
When you use that holding shift thing to place the stop at a different platform, you have to grab it at a point slightly away from where the stop marker lump is. Airport name: Met-teapot-litan.
Hi Biffa, can't wait to watch the new video! Just an idea, could you do a short (or long if you wish!) video on how to use each of your mods? It would be really appreciated. Thank you and keep up the great stuff!!
You should check out YUMBL. He does videos on the new mods when they come out or make significant functionality changes. He’s got a really good way of explaining things, too.
And I just LOVE the star fortress in the corner of the map. I imagine this was some kind of old fortress made from the first colonial powers who came in the area. Maybe it was built over an even older monastery made from the very first people who discovered the island. In this case I suggest to call it "Tenova" which is (kinda) the latin translation of New Tealand (kinda as in Latin there isn't a word for tea, so I used the Italian té). Centuries has passed, but the memory of the first expedition to this lovely island is still kept by the ruins and the park you'll build there...
"Oh my life, look how far he's gone!" I watched this after returning from a 20 mile cycle ride. And I wasn't going anywhere - from home back home again. People will cycle in real life as well. When you took away the Hugo There lines at the entrance to your airport complex it left behind the direction arrows. I think that means citizens wanting to go from the office side to the commercial side need to leave and find a way back.
Regarding biking, you could encourage them even more by adding an express bike highway to your city (maybe next to the farming area). I haven't sen that anywhere yet and I would love to see it in New Tealand. Love your city!
Bike paths are the best! Sweet lookin bridge across the stream / river at that one point when you were following the cyclists! I find that having a cable car connection within one of the bike path / walking path hubs that you've naturally created in a few spots will get a lot of action when people are tired of biking. I've got cable car stops with hundreds of riders a week and it's neat watching the building bustle with activity!
I think palm trees along the road from the airport up to the roundabout would look amazing, maybe even putting a fountain in the middle of the roundabout too!
Awesome episode, specially when we had the opportunity to saw the first "Tour of New Tealand". 😂 You also gave me the idea of giving New Tealand some dedicated government buildings, as you said they would like to come to this country by ✈️, like the Parliament and President Offcies of our tea loving president Biffa. This could be terrific.
33:00 This isn't how taxi stands work, unfortunately. Cims don't use them to hail cabs - they hail cabs from wherever they are, e.g. from in front of the airport terminal. All a taxi stand does is provide a cab a place to go at the end of its shift instead of returning all the way to the (however distant) depot. Plopped right next to the depot it does literally nothing at all (other than cost money, of course). Ideally, place the depot somewhere out of the way and the taxi stands close to locations with increased tourist traffic.
At 11:40 Where the one way oval road of the airport connects the 2 way road, you forced everyone to go right. If someone from left side (office) wants to go to right side (commercial) they have to go all the way to the roundabout. Give them the ability to go straight also
31:55 I'm VERY late to the party so I'm not worrying too much about whether this comment already exists(maybe I should?!) but I keep seeing a LOT of parking things getting placed backwards, like the ones in this instance! The handicap spaces should be some of the CLOSEST to the builds/entrances! Biffa is also not the only aggressor for this either, I think even CPP has done it a few times! It could also be that is just what happens because of the assets that have been created!
correct me if im wrong but i think they will always choose quicker over cheaper, so if your free public transport does not get more passengers, it just means all the fast ways to get around are already in good shape, it will go up when your traffic becomes denser and the flow slower, they will then earlier choose the public transport over the car, so i always have it on because it helps to delay the inevitable, it is not like encourage biking that, as you have seen, creates some hardcore cyclists ;)
I would consider putting access to the office park off of the main airport road, instead of coming off the far side of the airport roundabout. Although, your traffic doesn't seem to have any problems right now. Great updates!
Those bicyclists were amazing. Straight back home from the Tour De France... Amazing. I am so motivated to cycle myself now. What a lovely town in a lovely game. Thank you Biffa ! 😋🤩
Reminder to Biffa that not every street needs to be a bike lane. You could solve the parking issues a little bit by having some streets with parking. You only need your main through roads to have bike lanes.
Airport Name: Brit-Tea Metropolitan Airport Also: Airport Oval about by the Arch is forcing people to leave the airport as the road has a double right turn. Need to make one lane go straight. Those staying at the hotel or offices will have to leave the airport area and use the outer round-about to come back to the airport.
Hey! You previously had a metro monorail hub nearby the airport. So you could connect the airport with that monorail! Also instead of terminating the monorail in the zoo, you could extend it for future expansion to the islands around the mainland!
I like to make my transit hubs their own little zone, and then use "Free Public Transit" for the local area. That way, my transit still receives some revenue from riders that originate somewhere else but I give them a free transfer on their ride. It also encourages trip origination at the hubs from local riders, which should have more capacity than outlying stops. On the other hand, I use "High Ticket Prices" for the airport zone and set up a shuttle from the airport directly to a hub if I can, while also charging a toll for car exit from the airport. It's a fun use of the monorail or underground for some realism - airports commonly use them and airport transit is always a "soak the tourist" situation.
Hi Biffa. At 30:30 I was thinking you must add taxis in there. And you did ! Great. But now, why don't you add stops near by your hotels ? It's better than walking, don't you think ? Also watchout, the wings of your planes are hurting trees and offices. And for me, all your building are way too close to your airport. That was a cool video, thank you. I love the way you're enjoying following the cyclists into your city.
Those Tour the France Cyclist did so absolutely brilliant by riding such a humongous distance. As a tribute you really should improve their infrastructure from airport to the city even more!
Surprise after surprise, who would have thought a) no stuff would be named following suggestions, despite announcement at the beginning (unless I've missed it)? b) Biffa would check the building themes for regular commercial buildings although tourism specialization is applied? c) people would cycle across the map although public transport is free? Great entertainment, though! suggesting "My-tea-politan Airport"
I've paused just as Biffa is building the touristy area by the airport to say that hopefully he realises that people who need to go around the one way system to get to the first side have to currently leave the airport, travel back to the roundabout, and do a U-turn if they want to get back to the first side of the area. Maybe adjusting the curved bit at the furthest from the airport itself to include a lane where they can stay in the one-way loop would be a good idea. Also, once the cyclists get to the end of the road towards that highway intersection, there's nowhere for them to go as presumably they can't travel on highway roads. If nothing else, I hope he upgrades the flyover lanes that don't go to the highway to continue the cycle lanes. Hopefully he notices and changes something in this video, and failing that, I hope Biffa reads my comment.
watching biffa while my pc is in for repairs, flashing back to before i had the game, watching these videos and going 'hells yeah i'm getting this game' XD
Can you do a build using the pedestrian zones/ roads biffa? I have been hoping you would have by now 😅 maybe use it for a tourist or entertainment business area? Maybe round the spider hub. Love the vids keep up the uploads x
aawww I wanted to see the tea-rantula hub at the end :( that bike part was amazing hahahahaha unbelievable distances and they didn't care at all about driving through log trucks!
YES! Biffa's airport is on! 👍 Name suggestion: New Tealand Teaport, or N TEA TEA. The combination of your previous city name with this city's name, a clever usage in my opinion... 😏😌
Free public transport was instrumental in freeing up the highways in my latest city. Once your city is big enough you don’t really need the ticket income anyways.
FYI the taxi depot building is just barely getting missed by the wing of the planes going to the runway. The trees next to the depot, however, are getting clipped by the wings. Also, with the amount of cyclists coming from the airport area going into the main part of the city, perhaps a dedicated cycleway would be nice.
Oh man, Biffa, you Airport reminds me of one of the most dangerous airports in the world, located on the island of St-Maarten!
Biffa:it should get as high as 50/60 thousand a week
The actual number: Drops from 23 thousand to 3 hundred
lovin' it! maybe hookup the power from the dam at the back, also the trees at the taxi depo is clipping the wings of the planes
If you place metro lines and stations with anarchy on it causes the lines to drop over time ,great video .
@@oujg00 Thanks i will
And I just LOVE the star fortress in the corner of the map.
"Oh my life, look how far he's gone!"
I watched this after returning from a 20 mile cycle ride.
You also gave me the idea of giving New Tealand some dedicated government buildings, as you said they would like to come to this country by ✈️, like the Parliament and President Offcies of our tea loving president Biffa.
That was a nice bike tour at the end!
correct me if im wrong but i think they will always choose quicker over cheaper, so if your free public transport does not get more passengers, it just means all the fast ways to get around are already in good shape, it will go up when your traffic becomes denser and the flow slower, they will then earlier choose the public transport over the car, so i always have it on because it helps to delay the inevitable, it is not like encourage biking that, as you have seen, creates some hardcore cyclists ;)
The airport needs fencing around!
After that lengthy bike trip, it only feels fitting to get a park in honour of the "Tour de Farms" :P
13:05 Biffa proves that free public transportation maybe is the way to go
If Biffa ever makes a Ski Resort it better be called "Ice Tea snow and Ski"
Checking to see if Biffa uploaded more Tealand, bam 9 minutes ago. Great timing!
Enjoy
Reminder to Biffa that not every street needs to be a bike lane. You could solve the parking issues a little bit by having some streets with parking. You only need your main through roads to have bike lanes.
The airport should be called: flytea Airport, the The flying tea Airport or teaport
FlyTEA sounds like an airline, like a parody of FlyBE
I wish i was an asset editor i'd make some airplanes
Naming it Teaport will also pay homage to Biffa's previous city! RIP Teaport..
5:17 this place would be great for a park! biffa. in almost every district there's a park. So it's either tea or parks.
Airport Name: Brit-Tea Metropolitan Airport
Also: Airport Oval about by the Arch is forcing people to leave the airport as the road has a double right turn. Need to make one lane go straight. Those staying at the hotel or offices will have to leave the airport area and use the outer round-about to come back to the airport.
36:27
Now I’m wondering where the right group went to...
In the entrance to the airport, I’d like to see one of the alien rocks there! Name the airport “Floatea Rock Airport”! Love the content Biffa!
Just what I needed before going to bed!
When comparing your public transportation utilization you compare a day time value to a night time value, and the night one was (of course) lower.
Perfect timing just finished watching a show! It will probably go caohtic
Chaoteac
Those Tour the France Cyclist did so absolutely brilliant by riding such a humongous distance. As a tribute you really should improve their infrastructure from airport to the city even more!
31:54 Nice of you to put all of the wheelchair parking furthest from the buildings. ;)
10:10 "New Tealand International Airport" NTIA. Duh!!!
or NTMA: New Tealand Metropolitan Airport. That's too obvious to miss !!!!
That night view of the city is amazing 😍 loving the airport!!
Another good day, thank you Biffa.
Any time!
Surprise after surprise, who would have thought
a) no stuff would be named following suggestions, despite announcement at the beginning (unless I've missed it)?
b) Biffa would check the building themes for regular commercial buildings although tourism specialization is applied?
c) people would cycle across the map although public transport is free?
Great entertainment, though!
suggesting "My-tea-politan Airport"
For the upper line of the metro in the airport you can hook that to the near train station that have a metro stop
Lol I loved that Tour de France at the end. It’s amazing what a bike network can do.
13:20 I think the airport parking lot decoration could be more of a symmetrical flower garden
The airport definitely has to be Teathrow Airport
Is the airport road not an oval-about? Currently there is no way for cars to go back around.
This has been such a fun series to watch. Thank you for all the entertainment Biffa!
aawww I wanted to see the tea-rantula hub at the end :( that bike part was amazing hahahahaha unbelievable distances and they didn't care at all about driving through log trucks!
YES! Biffa's airport is on! 👍 Name suggestion: New Tealand Teaport, or N TEA TEA. The combination of your previous city name with this city's name, a clever usage in my opinion... 😏😌
Airport needs some more fences all around! Love the series Biffa!
It's gotta be Teathrow!!
The airport should be named Metropolitean airport (of New Tealand)
exactly what i was thinking
Oh man, Biffa, you Airport reminds me of one of the most dangerous airports in the world, located on the island of St-Maarten! The runway is so close to the sea, only the most experienced pilots are allowed to land there. It's called Princess Juliana Airport. You could call yours, Princess Tea-Liana Airport?
Anywho, always fun watching your videos! Take care and much love from France!
