So it looks like you can create separate clips store all the parts so that if you want to eventually bring it into ableton to complete it you can sonically deal with the parts. I was wondering how that would work from a recording perspective. My current workflow on my MPC I separate all my drum parts on there own channel so I can make the set sound better when mixing. I am still trying to get use to the ableton clip workflow And this method really does force you to think about things in that way. Thank you!
Up to how many tracks can you record-enable for mic input recordings? Like if you had a real live drum set mic'd up for recording could you recording enable 8 tracks for recording tge 8 separate drums onto each track? ..instead of simply using samples and midi..
Dear Matthew, how do you upload (in note mode), a whole acoustic battery, like you do in this case? I can only load one sample per clip! While, as regards the drum kits, which are used with the step sequencer, I find only electronic music kits like house, techno, etc. Is it possible that akai has not loaded a simple acoustic drum kit or, "experimental" drum kits?
My friend did you figure this out? I am new on this and I am trying but it doesn't seem to work hehehe like loading a bunch of snares and kicks hats etc creating an acoustic drum kit is my jam. But man what is that machine?
Yes, it feels MUCH bigger than the MPC LIVE. Not as easy to bring it into the next room when I want to. And you have to power it off and bring the power cable with you when you leave the room.
@@MatthewStratton yeah. The lack of battery is a downer for me. I'm waiting to see what they bring to the live this year. I really want that mixer. And who knows maybe Ableton releases a hardware standalone. They were hiring a while ago
@@alecsbuga I know and I understand Alex but making these speeches is complicated. It's a completely different machine, probably more complete than Live. Really different philosophies, far better layouts and hardware, controls everywhere, shortcuts; not to mention the PAD guys! The MPC pads are great for making finger drums but everything else not even for a dream! You need to attack at least one Keystep if you want to play something decent. Here we are, as an arrangement of the same and as organization (distance and size) totally on another planet. I open the Live a lot, really: but it is a different car for too many points of view. Even the FORCE screen, highly criticized, is made to avoid stealing space inside the building (it would have had to be dug in the central part forming a niche) and then rendedola even bigger and heavier. Similar, even, to a supermarket cash register. Ditto for the internal battery that, to feed the whole, would have lost the weight ratio that characterizes the latest product churned out by Akai.
Im using the trap template. I push Note and use column 2 (OV Slow Kit), my drum kit loads and I can bang out a beat. Problem is when I tap the clip box it doesnt starting recording, instead it fills the box with the play symbol and OV Slow Kit 1. Please help
Matthew I have a thing that I try to understand about drums. I get the loops and sampling etc but is there a way to make a drum kit? Is there any libraries of kicks and snares already in the machine?? How do I manage them? Before I begin to sample sounds myself creating drum kits etc. Is there a clear way for me to understand this?
@@SeanHyland so all the above exist and many many more. You don't have to worry about those stuff that thing is powerful and has a quite big learning curve.
can you change the time division of the arp/note repeat without screen diving? knobs or button shortcuts? also, on your samole edit vid, can you preview the clips on the pads BEFORE committing the convert, while you are editing them still?
I was thinking of getting an mpc live. Is it worth saving extra cash for the force. Still think I'm more on the mpc live for my setup. Thanks for the great video's 🙏
@@MatthewStratton hey thanks for your fast response. I thought the force looked a little clunky and needs updating. I'm sure it will be a great tool. You've helped make my mind up for the mpc live. Mainly for song mode. Thanks again for your great video's. Much appreciated 👍😊
Your information is good, and I love your passion. Try to complete one thought before moving on to the next. You interrupt yourself often, which makes it harder to follow you.
I have the MPC live which is my first MPC. I just can't get my head around the naming convensions and find the menus confusing. I've been looking at the Akai Force and it seems more intuative and structured and just seems to make more sense to me. Would need to sell my MPC live which has only had about 1hours use in the past year. It's just not slick enough to use. Yup the Force seems to be the way to go for what I'm used to.
Yeah, the Live takes a while to get the hang of. It has a classic MPC style type of workflow. The Force has a new workflow that may be easy to understand.
If this is all you have. In its current state. Are there workarounds any way you make a song. On this. I’ve seen the Force ableton linked to the mpc x I just wanna sell my mpc x and just use THE FORCE 😂😂
So I am not sure exactly how one would track out a full song. You can mix it on the box, launch each scene one by one and send the audio outs to a recording device. But, I don't see a song mode yet or a way to bounce your tracks to audio. Still exploring.
The force is all its own. I love it. Had it for over a month and I got over 100 beats working on. Way more then my last setup of a synth and a drum machine. I didn't think I would love to sample and I do! This thing is crazy. It is a music production studio.
This is a great video series Matt (very helpful). Thx for these! Subbed👍
Nice, thanks for the support!
Thank you for these videos more in depth than the beta testers and AKAI put together keep them coming .........Peace
Thx for your videos !
Can you switch note repeat from 16th to 32nd while recording the hihats with the qlinks or only on the screen ?

Hey, how many clips can you have per track? Could I record 50 drum patterns and chain them all together in a song mode or arrangement?
can anyone help please. I cant seem to record a clip. i have loaded my drums. Sequencer works however finger drumming isnt. Thanks

Brazzo yes can you use the note repeat button while playing? It’s like a must have for getting those trippy trap style rhythms.
Hi Matt could you make a video on the hype synth multisamples sounds built in using the keyboard.im really curious about hype plugin please...thanks
Thanx for your work in this. Hope next week i get one in switzerland.

I will still recommend the MPC LIVE for making songs. The Force needs a few updates still IMO.

Hype by air should have been an option for mpc series
You make it sound hard are maybe its the way you explained it I just load a drum set on my live and just play
I just saw note repeat you got it
how do you make a drum track? they made this process quite stupid, they really should have left it like the live...
NVM got it
Good video but akai dropped the ball on this native instruments want to be. The push 2 better.
I doubt it
