Just got the force 2 days ago, I'm 48 but a newbie to music production... I really appreciate all the effort you put into making your videos. It has really helped me out.
Thank You.... exactly what I was looking for. I was lost when chopping up a sample. I wanted them in a keygroup using all the pads. This is a great place to start.
thanks for all your help with the Akai Force I think you are the best out there with your tutorials straight to the point clear and understanding I have learned so much many than again Joe from England uk👌🏻😁
after you convert the chops to the pads, does editing an endpoint automatically move the next pads start point the way it does when you are slicing the sample before you commit the convert? thank you doing these real world use videos.
Thank you for your video 😊 ...can you have a different sample on a different velocity? ...example, when playing soft you play a rim.. and hard a snare?
Can a sample sound after the clip is ended. I mean. When you record an audio track where you play for example strings and they have long decay. Will it Cut?
Hello. You can assign specific samples to specific notes if you use a keygroup program. In a keygroup program you can assign your sample to the exact note range that you want your samples to be on.
I just picked up a Force yesterday. I can't quite figure out why they changed the sample editing/lazy chopping with pads that already exists in the MPC Live/X. The device seems just about perfect otherwise (I would like the autosampler feature as well), but this might be a deal breaker for me.
Hello. The autosampler is in the sampler area right next to "Arm". The sample editing/lazy chopping and lack of song mode are the two biggest gripes users have with the Force if you look my my comments. I am curious to see what Akai includes in the next update due out mid March.
This workflow is disappointing in comparison to editing with the pads, similar to the Live or X. Hope they fix this in further update. If the software catches up with the Live, this unit will be a beast....
you are asking the wong question. it is only an upgrade if you are lusting for an ableton style sequencer clip thing. if you are happy with an actual mpc it's not an upgrade. two different machines - so actually there is no "upgrade" from either to another.
@@MatthewStratton is it possible to automate the cutoff ? Does it have a global filter section for all keygroups ? Last time i tried it on an mpc I was only able to automate each filter of a keygroup (range) alone
@@MatthewStratton Dang, Bro - With the straight up gold AGAIN! (SHIFT!!!) my missing link! been missing out on this in the MPC Live for months now.... Yikes! You Rock, Bro! 🤗😁👊
looks like alot of touchscreen use and not so hands on as you would assume with all these knobs. why can't u chop samples with the pads? however, nice video!
Hey Matthew have you had any issues with the sampler? I’m unable to set max sample length, and after arming the cancel button doesn’t work... any ideas?
Matthew Stratton yeah, running 3.0.1... I restarted the force and I’m able to adjust max sample, it still no cancel after arming lol Also found a bug where the data wheel jumps back to the first sample when browsing certain expansion packs on the ssd I installed- come on updates!!!!!
Do you mean you can't stop the sampler once it starts sampling? If so, I wonder if anyone else has that issue. Did you check Akai forum yet? I sampled with the sampler with no issue.
Matthew Stratton no, say you arm the sampler, then decide not to sample- the cancel option won’t respond and the sampler will not unarm. I have to press record, then choose “discard”
Also, you can audition slices by selecting the headphone icon 🎧 in sample edit and touching the slice you wish to hear. 🙂

its alot of fun broski!!!
Im 46 and 3 weeks in. Its hard to detox from Logic jejejej

Loving these man, thank you for putting such effort into it!
Thanks for the comment. More on the way!

You're welcome!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to dial in the things the way we dial in things...no flashy BS...just work...kudos man.
Looks like your right at home with this box, great video keep em coming
Loving it so far. This step sequencer is where it's at.
There’s also an option to hold SHIFT before loading to “load into pool” if you don’t want the FORCE to load it to a clip
Awesome thanks! I freakin love the Force. Its a serious instrument!
It does a lot.
Kinda hope they implement MPC chopping manually by pads and the looping by pads tapping on the screen doesn't cut it
Leoo Pokat it’s the sample chopping of the 5000 they need to have it like the other MPCs

Great video! Is there a "trim silence" or cut at zero transient option for slicing ?
Yes, there is a "Zero Snap" option which cuts out the clicking as it automatically lands the playhead on a zero point.
Thank you for your video 😊
...can you have a different sample on a different velocity?
...example, when playing soft you play a rim.. and hard a snare?
Yes. There are 4 velocity layers that you can program.
Can you pitch the sample while its in chop mode? I make DNB and this would be perfect for amen breaks and other breakbeats. 😏
Yes. You can change the pitch of the chops in the program edited.
Excellent! Thanks, Bro! 🤗😁👊
Good tutorial man thank you
No problem. Thanks for the comment.
can I add to a drum program with another sample?
What up man. Can you save a drum kit for later use on another project? and which video do you explain this in.
I didn't make a video about this for the Force yet. Only the MPC Live.
Are you able to audition and select slices using the pads?
Unfortunately no
Can a sample sound after the clip is ended. I mean. When you record an audio track where you play for example strings and they have long decay. Will it Cut?
More MPC!!
can you do something similar in Note Mode? Assign different samples to different notes?
Hello. You can assign specific samples to specific notes if you use a keygroup program. In a keygroup program you can assign your sample to the exact note range that you want your samples to be on.
Keep em coming thanks
Where is note repeat
It is in the arp. When you push shift and arp you have the option to change the arp to note repeat.
@@MatthewStratton thanks it's hard to use time div when doing trap got any idea?btw
Thank you. I have no clue what im doing. I will save all your video's. Can you make one for beginners? How to make a song?

Nice thanks.

great, very educational, too bad we can't color the pads
Show us how to load individual samples into a empty drum kit

Force vs Mpc live ? worth upgrading ?
If you want portability go with the Live. I made the move. And saved a ton of money.
you are asking the wong question. it is only an upgrade if you are lusting for an ableton style sequencer clip thing. if you are happy with an actual mpc it's not an upgrade. two different machines - so actually there is no "upgrade" from either to another.
I'm downgrade from force to live
does it have a multisampler (keygroups) ?
Yes. There are keygroup programs on the Akai Force.
@@MatthewStratton is it possible to automate the cutoff ? Does it have a global filter section for all keygroups ?
Last time i tried it on an mpc I was only able to automate each filter of a keygroup (range) alone
It is the same one from the mpc. You can add an effect to the whole keygroup program to use cut off on the entire key group.
@@MatthewStratton so it is really not possible or did I miss something ? please
You will have the exact same experience as thr mpc. Absolutely no difference.
How you delete notes after recording beside the pencil
You can select the notes with the select tool ( the one that looks like a box ) and push shift and cut.

Where is note repeat?and auto sampler
Note repeat is in the arp ( press shift arp ) and the auto sampler is in the sampler ( menu then sampler )
No auto zero crossing!
Push shift and press zero snap 👍
Hey Matthew have you had any issues with the sampler? I’m unable to set max sample length, and after arming the cancel button doesn’t work... any ideas?
Hmm. Idk. Did you update the firmware yet? No issues here. Max sample length is 15 minutes.

At that point the sampler is reset
