Beautiful couple! I never dared question. I praise God every day that He revealed His grace to me. We have found fellowship with God alone and now with people everywhere.
Legalism CAN creep into ANY church. I thought I was finally in a Bible believing church, but then I realized that I was feeling burdened and judged and hopeless once again. So I asked God to please show me what is so GOOD about the good news (the gospel). And HE showed me CHRIST. Christ is our LIFE. The gospel is CHRIST alone.
I just finished watching this and just could not stop listening. I can so relate in a million ways! Thank you, Marty and Beth for your courage, your love for Christ, and for opening up your heart. Thank you David for all of your videos. They are so helpful. I didn’t realize that they didn’t have a personal relationship with Jesus! All this time…I’ve been to more meetings than I can count. I’ve attended Convention! Been friends with these folks for 27 years!!! They never answered my questions. I just thought I was fellowshipping with fellow (although very private) believers! Oh how I wish I would have known this a long time ago. But…I can trust God that he will lead and guide now that I DO have this knowledge. Would love your prayers in this.

Thanks to all of you because in doing this you allowed the Holy Spirit to work through you! 1 Cor 3: 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. 7 So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth.

I was actually baptized 3 times: Mormon when I was 8 years old my parents made me, shortly after they changed religions and took us 6 children to a Southern Baptist Church, I was 12, believed in God but was not really trusting in Christ as my Savior. I was baptized however. At 26 I prayed to God one night to ask if He existed, how would I know? And how would I know if He was talking to me? At that point God surrounded me with believers. At work, at home, knocking on my door. One day I finished aerobics from a tv exercise, I sat down to wind down and a TV Evangelists came on and talked about Jesus dying for my sins. When he gave an alter call I got on my knees on my living room floor and asked Jesus to save me. After that I opened a Bible, prayed, and everything I never understood started popping out in the Words came alive. I prayed for a church, God led me to a non denomination verse by verse Bible believing church. I’m still there at 62 years old. God is good in every way. Day by Day, He’s never left me. I’ve not always been faithful, He’s never failed me.

I have dear friends who are in the same religion. I always wondered why they wore somewhat ugly jean skirts. I remember growing up knowing a girl in High School whose mom would wear the most lovely skirts, now I know they were probably Ralph Loren, but back then thinking “someday I want to dress like her!” They weren’t fancy, just lovely. She also never died her hair and had a beautiful gray ponytail. I never once thought, “I want to wear worn out jean skirts like my friends in that religion do”. Kind of funny and tragic at the same time. It is like a religious sort of uniform. That along with their long hair bun. Our children went to school together. We attended “convention” and I’ve been to many meetings. They are still my friends. Now though, I realize what they believe thanks to you. I would ask questions but they never really answered them. My heart grieves now. I realize that they have been hoping I would convert. How can I best love them and present the truth? Thank you for this channel! Thank you, thank you, thank you! It's the same reason Amazing Grace isn't in the hymnbook. It is the same reason we didn't sing Christmas Carols nor were they in the hymnbook. Christmas Carols are pure unadulterated Gospel!

I came into fellowship in the Meetings by the leading and answering of my desperate prayers by God. I knew absolutely nothing about them before I sat in my first meeting. God has continued to lead me, teach me, correct me, and answer my prayers. Even so, I rejoice in your discoveries of what the true Gospel is. I would exhort you though to be charitable. For until the feeling of need for finger pointing (from whichever side of disagreement it comes), is abolished through the true Spirit from God, our knowledge and understanding is in vain. Ref: I Corinthians 13. I Corinthians 8. ❤
Hey there! Thanks for commenting! You mentioned that you came into the fellowship of meetings as an answer to prayer. But we need to come to Christ not to a religion! Scripture is clear there is only 3 types of “religion” that are acceptable to God; caring for the orphans and widows and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. All of which we can only do with Christ living through us!!

I stopped watching when the camera cut off. The reason I couldn't watch was, that things weren't getting done around the house. I wanted to know what they did at meetings if Jesus wasn't in it? he said they had songs. So what was in the songs if they didn't have Jesus? That all seems so odd to me. I was going to a sort of legalized church years ago, but we knew Jesus was the only way to God. I just can't imagine a meeting without Jesus being in it all. Even yet I struggle with never being good enough, but that is me, not the teaching I had. I was schooled with most of the rich kids in our town it was truly divided at the tracks and I was on the wrong side of town. It has more to do with not being raised to think I was never good enough in social circles. I wasn't smart, pretty, well-heeled. This spilled over into every part of my life. Then I became a Christian. I would never make it in a Cult!!! ... I may get back to watching the rest. I can almost tell the outcome. This is good for people who need to realize they are being deceived.
I was going to ask if this is the same thing as the Duggars? ... I always knew they were in a Cult. The hair, dress, and other things always told me they were being deceived.
Great questions! So for us, when we talked about Jesus, it was synonymous with our religion. We even referred to our religion as the Way and the Truth...which Jesus says He is! So it was just something we were blind to until God opened our eyes. For so long, I believed Jesus had started our church and set up our ministry...I had very little knowledge of what it meant that He died for my sins and that He was my Savior. I was trying to earn my own salvation by having the right beliefs and doing the right things.

I have never understood why people do not understand the KJV of the Bible. My other go-to is NIV. Both of these are so much easier to understand than ESV or ASV.
One item that might benefit in the Intro is defining some terms. I have never heard of these different meetings and did she say “Workers of Friends”? Or something of that effect in the beginning? We’ll see I these and answered as I progress. But I’m not sure exactly what cult these refer to off hand.

@@davidalink true…how ever, John 6: 51-56 He tells us SEVERAL times to eat His flesh and drink His blood… He is truly present body blood soul and divinity in a consecrated host. I’m not here to argue…just read the early church fathers. Please keep in mind that the Bible is a Catholic book…the books of the Bible was prayerfully decided at the council of Polycarp (not positive on which) and that 7 books and parts of a couple other books were omitted from their Bible.
The very first statement abou the word 'professing' as not being in the bible. Well the word Jesus is not in the original bible either, but here is what it says about 'professing." 1 Timothy 6:12 in the New Testament. King James Version (KJV): "Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses." And, yes it's a 'fight' rather than being saved through 'faith alone.'
Its a legalistic group started in 1897 that denies the deity of Christ and strives in vain towards a worked based salvation. They claim no name, but are known as Meetings, The Truth, Friends & Workers, 2x2s, The Fellowship, The Way, etc. They claim to be a continuation of the 1st century church and the "ministers" or workers, are homeless and go in pairs. However, they stay in members homes known as the Friends. In '23 & '24 a lot of CSA and SA has been revealed in the leadership and members, so many of the Friends are leaving the group. In watching these RUclips, I find it very interesting how many similarities to the Amish. Man-made religion.

Never dawned on me just how desperately wicked and backwards the “worker’s” religion is and was. It makes me sick to my stomach how deceitful and anti-Christian this false religion that calls itself the truth really is.

Today I have felt attacked by my sister who is still so deeply entrenched in the cult and my daughter who has completely rejected God. I needed to hear that others have had the same doubts and awakening that I had.

I stopped watching when the camera cut off. The reason I couldn't watch was, that things weren't getting done around the house.
I wanted to know what they did at meetings if Jesus wasn't in it? he said they had songs. So what was in the songs if they didn't have Jesus? That all seems so odd to me. I was going to a sort of legalized church years ago, but we knew Jesus was the only way to God. I just can't imagine a meeting without Jesus being in it all. Even yet I struggle with never being good enough, but that is me, not the teaching I had.
I was schooled with most of the rich kids in our town it was truly divided at the tracks and I was on the wrong side of town. It has more to do with not being raised to think I was never good enough in social circles. I wasn't smart, pretty, well-heeled. This spilled over into every part of my life.
Then I became a Christian. I would never make it in a Cult!!! ... I may get back to watching the rest. I can almost tell the outcome. This is good for people who need to realize they are being deceived.
I was going to ask if this is the same thing as the Duggars? ... I always knew they were in a Cult. The hair, dress, and other things always told me they were being deceived.
Great questions! So for us, when we talked about Jesus, it was synonymous with our religion. We even referred to our religion as the Way and the Truth...which Jesus says He is! So it was just something we were blind to until God opened our eyes. For so long, I believed Jesus had started our church and set up our ministry...I had very little knowledge of what it meant that He died for my sins and that He was my Savior. I was trying to earn my own salvation by having the right beliefs and doing the right things.
@@gracierose3076not the same as the Duggars (the Friends & Workers would never allow themselves to be on TV) but there are similarities. All legalistic systems kind of have the same stench.

I have never understood why people do not understand the KJV of the Bible. My other go-to is NIV. Both of these are so much easier to understand than ESV or ASV.

@@davidalink true…how ever, John 6: 51-56 He tells us SEVERAL times to eat His flesh and drink His blood… He is truly present body blood soul and divinity in a consecrated host. I’m not here to argue…just read the early church fathers. Please keep in mind that the Bible is a Catholic book…the books of the Bible was prayerfully decided at the council of Polycarp (not positive on which) and that 7 books and parts of a couple other books were omitted from their Bible.

The very first statement abou the word 'professing' as not being in the bible. Well the word Jesus is not in the original bible either, but here is what it says about 'professing." 1 Timothy 6:12 in the New Testament. King James Version (KJV): "Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses." And, yes it's a 'fight' rather than being saved through 'faith alone.'

Its a legalistic group started in 1897 that denies the deity of Christ and strives in vain towards a worked based salvation. They claim no name, but are known as Meetings, The Truth, Friends & Workers, 2x2s, The Fellowship, The Way, etc. They claim to be a continuation of the 1st century church and the "ministers" or workers, are homeless and go in pairs. However, they stay in members homes known as the Friends. In '23 & '24 a lot of CSA and SA has been revealed in the leadership and members, so many of the Friends are leaving the group. I just realized that THIS is the religion I’ve never understood, that a dear friend grew up in. Thank you for helping me understand. She doesn’t go to meetings anymore and is exploring other faiths. I see such a positive difference in her. ❤️🇨🇦

What we came out of is not associated with the Brethren groups. I have friends from those groups, though, and the similarities are striking.

There were and still are some wonderful people in it, whom I am thankful for, but I am so glad to have found rest in the Lord and freedom from bondage to tradition and legalism. It took many years to deprogram... I'm not sure I'm completely deprogrammed, but God is greater than my weaknesses. lol
