Over the years, Jonathan hasn't been in the best of health. He's had many scares with a rare blood disease. Also, I'm sure the years of alcohol and drug abuse don't exactly help your organs function down the road. Everybody is different. JD needs that extra oxygen to get through a few songs. No biggie. He actually sounded really great in this song!
