  • An instrumental track of The Prologue from Les Miserables, music written by Claude-Michel Schonberg, lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel (original French) and Herbert Kretzmer (English translation). Trevor Nunn and John Caird directed the original production, which was produced by Cameron Mackintosh. The music was orchestrated by John Cameron.
These tracks were made using the revised version of the score, from around 1995-1997, which is slightly different from the score as it appears on the Complete Symphonic Recording. The orchestrations also follow these revisions, with the exception of the keyboards- information on the Kurzweil patches for the show is difficult to find, so these sounds are intended to emulate the original DX-7 patches (with varying success, I might add).
This video includes lyrics, future videos may not. They can be time-consuming and it's quicker for me to upload these regularly without lyrics, though I may add them later.
UP NEXT: "What Have I Done? (Valjean's Soliloquy)"

Thank you so much for your comment! Really means a lot coming from you- I've seen your work in recreating the Cameron orchestrations and your tracks are absolutely *incredible*.
And I'm glad you noticed the tempos- they're the main thing that prompted me to do these tracks in the first place. Of course, it's funny you notice them here, as I later began to sync the tracks directly with the CSR (and am actually currently in the process of resynching these old ones to the album as well).

    私はレミゼラブルが大好きです。しかし、私はオーケストラの伴奏も大好きです。つまり、オフボーカルに感謝します!

I'm linking to this track in the big Slender Man smash story some friends and I are putting together. We're making him face the music as it were. And this will be the one he gets from me. *Grin* I love it. The guy wouldn't last an hour in this prison chain gang.

Yeah, unfortunately I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to these things, so I pretty much just work with what I have and try to make the best of things. Though lately I've been tweaking a lot of the sore spots- fixed some of the synths towards the beginning (which were done before I had access to the original keyboard books) and mixed the track as a whole a bit better so that the synths and guitars weren't as loud. Sounds much better...though in a few days they'll probably be crap again.
