- I det här avsnittet så beger jag mig djupt in i skogen för att träffa @ErikGrankvist
Erik, som när han var 18 år gammal, begav sig in i skogen för att bygga sin egen timmerstuga endast med hjälp av handverktyg.
Helt utan förkunskaper, han var inte ens intresserad av träslöjd när han växte upp, men med en stark dröm så gav han sig ut med sin yxa och började att fälla sina första träd till sitt hem.
Erik berättar om passionen för hantverket. Vilka material han har använt sig av och hur han har tänkt när han byggt huset.

This is a very good video. After watching Erik harvest logs and build his cabin, all these past months, it is rather exciting to hear him speak so much. Erik is clearly an exceptional young man. What he lacks in years of experience, he makes up with considerable intellect and determination.

What a great Interview, thank you. I have been watching Erik since I came across his first video a few years ago, but hearing his voice for the first was so cool, and it fits his personality perfect. What I really did enjoy was hearing about why he wanted to start a You tube channel and how he wanted to pass down history teachings down to future generations so they could find it online one day. It's great to hear and see young people following there dreams or ideals of being something great. Keep up the great work and can't to see more updates of Erik.

Wow, well done! It was nice to hear Eric speak, makes him seem more human, rather than this RUclips icon. I love the narration, the description of the origins, motivations and inspirations. It was particularly noteworthy hearing Eric speak of presenting almost-lost crafts and knowledge online for the whole world to know and practice and do. Question, where in Sweden is his cabin, his grandfather's woods located? Looking on the map it appears that 80% of Sweden is forest and mountains, a beautiful country, nonetheless.

To be precise, the county of Jämtland. Where exactly I cannot tell but the county is fairly geographically homogenous, the biggest distinction is between the small mountain tops and in the valleys in which he got his cabin. In one of Eriks previous videos he filmed both Ptarmigans and a wild boar he carried to his cabin, it's the only county in Sweden where these two species are even remotely close. It gets even wilder the further north you go, I recommend northern Lapland if you want to experience something like this. However you'll have to replace the wild boars with reindeers and northern light.
I came here when I saw you were interviewing Erik! So cool! Nice to hear the background behind his cabin building adventures. He really is a kind, down to earth young man. It was a pleasure watching this vlog! Nice job!

I always wondered if Erik had watched "Alone in the wilderness", I've always loved that documentary I was glad to hear that was his inspiration. It was really fun to get to know Erik better and hear him speak about his experiences- with his surprising deep voice!

You are an inspiration young man. I live off the grid in the Santa Cruz mountains, although there were 2 houses when I bought my land. I really enjoy the videos and the style that you film them with. I think they are best with no narration so that was a great choice on your part.

Been watching Erik since the very beginning and now I have found your channel as well. Great interview, you asked many of the questions that his followers would have liked to ask. I always presume his motivation for building the cabin was his sense of adventure and eagerness to challenge the Forrest. I thank you both for this great experience and hope Erik will speak more on his videos with English translation. However, as he says the videos are hard to make, perhaps translating them would add to the difficulty already so maybe not.

Hi Eric, I just did see your video and I give you my depest respect for your accomplishment ! About 15 years ago i did see all the videos of Dick Proenneke myself. Then 12 years ago myself and the wife went to Alaska and visited Dicks Cabin. I was facinated and started looking for an existing old cabin or place in the woods where i can build. Found one about 11 years ago in Smaland in Sweden. Moved to Sweden right away and been happy ever since. We are orininally from germany. Dont tell anybody were your cabin is !!! I did this mistake and now i have soo many surprise visits ...terrible !

I always loved Eric´s videos. It´s so interesting, peaceful and fascinating to see how he built that house on his own. He did an awsome job. This video is a real highlight - actually the first time I heard him talk (even though I had to turn on subtitles) :D
This is great! Erik is an inspiration to me to do something similar, though I’m not as young and fit anymore, the desire still burns inside. Dick Proenneke was also an inspiration for me as well as Jack London, and Henry David Thoreau.

@@naprapatjonas Well without the Vikings lots of us would not exist. I am Canadian but my heritage is mostly, Italian, Ukrainian, and Polish. However, I mostly speak English and Russian. I know there is a lot of debate over that. Vikings and Slavic origin.

I tried living in some remote contryside in France , Alps, but so many people and even my family were making problems with me, so tired and retired, I dropped my mind to history of photography, and the beginnings. In your country a person named Winther (Hans Thøger Winther l786-1851)created the first photographs in Christiania, Oslo. Am pleased to talk to you about this guy very original... All the best for the way you live...I was a photographer too, and filmed adventures with friends in Africa, China, gorgeous time !

I am not an experience carpenter but you can see the obvious that he himself are not skilled of it!
But he keep on pursuing until he did actually be on it gradually, painstakingly perfected his worked.. great experienced and it is also motivational to some who would like to start this type of experienced! I myself would be in great joy if this will happen on my behalf.
