That is a very cool looking suit! perhaps it is best to close one eye when looking at the screen though. It will make your eyes less tired and you won't look cross-eyed.
Awesome work I was thinking when I watched the video that my nose would probably cover half the menu stuff ,also I agree that it would be cool to use google glasses instead all you have to do is move your eyes.
Great update James! Just a little thing; why are there 2 options for the faceplate; open and close? Just make it one option called 'faceplate'. That means you have one menu option less and makes it faster to navigate.

Only if you could be able to do it with out electronics If you could use your thoughts to do it. When its turned on and the face plate is shut shouldn't the eyes be lit up all the time like in the movie and off when the helmet is turned off or face plate is open and even if its damaged the lights flicker. I was also wanting to get into this kind of electronics as a hobby what would you suggest I start with.
I agree. Maybe you can make an app for that to display on your eye piece so that you won't need to cross your eyes when the helmet's open. Great build so far!
Well done mate that is an epic piece of electronics and fabrication you have done there. Will you be having a full re spray when its finished just to make it all the same shade.
the serial OLED module need a program? I confused because in the video its not explain. I from to Spain and my english is poor . Your proyect is incredible!!!!! please answer me. I look your webpage and I not found the program of OLED. THANKYOU JAMES BRUTON
can'y wait to see the whole thing put up together. Finishied, I mean. Just one ideia, James. What do you think of placing those magnetic buttons you mencioned in one of the arms instead of the hips? I belive it would look better, even more "robotic", rather than touching your hips arround, which wouçld seem strange. Just an ideia for you to think about. Keep up the good work! o/
You've been doing what iv'e been dreaming of doing since I saw the first Iron Man... After watching Iron Man I decided I wanted to study engineering and here I am today, in my second year of electronics engineering. Loving what you're doing with the wireless communication. Are you using SPI to communicate to the display or I2C?
wow, all that messy looking electronics stuff packed into the helmet and hidden away, looks great and really advanced. You'll get loads of jealous looks when you finally get to wear the completed suit somewhere. Shame you don't live in America with easy access to comicon, that would be an epic place to showcase the finished thing. I think you should do some testing on how long those four batteries will last when using the eyes, opening and closing and all the other stuff. The last thing you want is the faceplate half opening due to a flat battery when demonstrating.
I get what you mean my magnetic braking, I was just imagining you out somewhere demonstrating and the helmet only sluggishly opening halfway before it runs out of power and the brakes stop it. Im not sure how much power four AA batteries hold (not talking about voltage) and there are quite a few electronics in the head. I imagine you would put fresh batteries in anyway before you go out, or just use rechargeables.
Hey James! ive been watching your videos since 2013 and I am re watching this video as reference for a project i'm working on. I have a question, and I realy hope you see this. I'm wondering how well you can see the oled display with it being so close to your face?
It does look silly when you look up at the screen. It should be easy for you to remember the sequence. From the 'open' option from what you explained it should just be [select button- execute button] to close it. So when it's open if you just remember [left pod, right pod] then it will close immediately. You might have the same issues if you want to run the uni beam with the faceplate open though.
***** Or since you are planning on having a sound board with the transmitter electronics you could have the system make a click (or perhaps something more Iron Man-y) so you could have audible confirmation that you are on a new menu item. Still, this suit is becoming seriously epic and I wish I had lots of money so I could sponsor your build. Good luck! After you complete this, please build a working Tardis!
This is so cool! Been watching these for ages, and its really good to see it finally coming together :) Are there any other channels like yours about? Ive found some similar channels of building movie props etc, but they are all time lapsed videos, and not step by step like yours.
Ola! Será que vc poderia fornecer o esquema eletrônico deste circuito, bem como a lista de material? Também sou um fã do iron mam e estou montando uma mark 3! Obrigado! !
If you ever have the time, you should make an instructional guide for making an iron man suit and sell them at comic con for a fair price * something between 50 - 20 *
Hey James I've been watching your videos for a really long time know and I really wanna learn how to make a helmet ( the whole body Looks a bit to complicated for a 14 year old with no experience ) but the helmet looks really fun especially all the electronic stuff maybe you could do a template video , molding and electronics :) that'd be great . Thanks if you take this into consideration .
dam u must be a tech nerd lol since yr great with wires and all mechanical devices. i still like yr vids and great iron man suit and helmet that u made by hand
Hey bro honestly speaking , You 93% looks like young skinny Steve Rogers !
Trust me dude !
Great video! it was funny when you looked up lol :)
How you don't have a million subscribers is beyond me...
Barnacules Nerdgasm because not everything is measured with the number of subscribers... BTW, southpark.cc.com/full-episodes/s18e09-rehash
Barnacules Nerdgasm Jerry, I actually got to this playlist from your DJI Inspire video.
+Barnacules Nerdgasm I love finding famous youtubers on normal videos. It makes me happy.
+Denys Dmytriyenko (denix) Actually, for professional YTers, subscriber numbers mean everything.
he's almost there now
YOUR EYES at 8:39!!!!!
You are an extremely clever chap, I am in awe of your electronics knowledge. Amazing series of videos! Thank you.
The helmet alone is just fantastic
That is a very cool looking suit! perhaps it is best to close one eye when looking at the screen though. It will make your eyes less tired and you won't look cross-eyed.
10:48
your so funny ...
nice project and good luck 👍
They always say the head makes the man, and this video proves that point splendidly!
That's absolutely amazing !!! I laughed out loud when you crossed your eyes to read the display. It's night here. I hope I didn't wake anybody !!!
you're a wizard, james bruton
best iron man cosplay ever !!
Awesome work.
Just a warning: Magnetic reed switches could be set off by any random magnetic field, or obnoxious bystander with magnets.
James, you have an exceptional talent. Bravo! : )
Awesome work I was thinking when I watched the video that my nose would probably cover half the menu stuff ,also I agree that it would be cool to use google glasses instead all you have to do is move your eyes.
Wow, I never actually watched the build log for this suit, and never knew you had a cool little oled screen in there to choose options!
U look funny when u look up it's all cross eyed and stuff but without further ado BRILLIANT!!!!
Great update James! Just a little thing; why are there 2 options for the faceplate; open and close? Just make it one option called 'faceplate'. That means you have one menu option less and makes it faster to navigate.

that helmet is awesome. great job James :)
You deal a striking resemblance to Guy Cihi!
am watching with great intressed as making the warmachine with working airsoft guns
thanks for all the videos
Can you make the eyes light up and stay on? That would be epic!
Will you program it to include an option where the eyes are always on rather than for 4 seconds?
Sounds good, eager to see what you come up with. :)
***** If you are using a MOSFET to control the LEDS use PWM from the microcontroller to fade the LEDS on and off. Its more like the movie then.
dude, just amazing, how did you learn to do this, I wanna do this but I don't think I could
Very beautiful work, James!
Man! You are the best! This is so cool!
Speechless
I want this done now!! So impressed!
I can't even imagine what you would do with a much larger budget
Wow good job
That's quite a piece of work. Nice job!
Great work
That's great news for iron man
Install Google Glass on the eye part of the helmet! It'll be awesome!!
I agree. Maybe you can make an app for that to display on your eye piece so that you won't need to cross your eyes when the helmet's open. Great build so far!

Genious !
J.A.R.V.I.S is Just A Rather Very Intelligent System, not Just A Really Very Intelligent System
can you see while the eyes are lit up? or does it white-out the eye windows, like a camera when a flashlight is shined into it?
the serial OLED module need a program? I confused because in the video its not explain. I from to Spain and my english is poor . Your proyect is incredible!!!!! please answer me. I look your webpage and I not found the program of OLED. THANKYOU JAMES BRUTON
great battery packs I use them too
This is awesome !
Iv been waiting forever for this
Bravoo! Sei un Fenomeno !
You are a genius
Teach me oh great master!

Are you taking this to may 18 2014 comic con
So very awesome. Nice work, James. Keep it up!

***** I'd recommend using at least 2400mah rechargable batteries. It will last long and you will save money after second recharge.
Hello
soo cool
oh, well...that's cool!
you should make it tell if there is a head in the helmet so when it closes it doesnt turn off after 4 sec.
U r the best Bro. .....
im pretty sure he's going to be the real tony stark soon
I am impressed...wow

Add iron man lasers. REAL Iron Man Laser! -- Mind Blow #21
Dont let the eyes flash i think it looks better when it just goes on and off
he should keep the eye flash but have them stay on until he wants to turn them off
I've been waiting for this video for what feels like forever. *SO* excited to see the finished helmet. Damned good job man! :D
BadAss!
So you are basically Tony 'James' Stark
Awesome!
So brilliant!

amazing work! one of the coolest helmets I've ever seen.
Nice!
This looks excellent, been following a long time and every addition looks brilliant keep up the good work

hip pods hip pods tap!!tap!!
Ola! Será que vc poderia fornecer o esquema eletrônico deste circuito, bem como a lista de material? Também sou um fã do iron mam e estou montando uma mark 3! Obrigado! !
That's amazing!
amazing!
Why don't you add words on the screen like lasers and repulsors so that you can activate them like you do with the helmets faceplate
can you see in the dark with the eyes light?
its amazing!! You are a genius!!!
awesome.
If you ever have the time, you should make an instructional guide for making an iron man suit and sell them at comic con for a fair price * something between 50 - 20 *
i like your videos.
How much would it cost to print out the helmet by a company? Kind regards Jesse
wow nice

Really enjoy your videos, new subscriber :)

British Sheldon? Is that you?
Can you tell us, which STL files you used? or are they ones you created? Great job by the way.
How muxh for the mask .. i tried making my own but I dont know how to wire things
Can i get the seperate circuit diagram of tge transmitter and receiver
How did you get the face shield to perform its automatic open and close function?btw nice suits!
dam u must be a tech nerd lol since yr great with wires and all mechanical devices. i still like yr vids and great iron man suit and helmet that u made by hand
What will be the cost total of electronics
Why don't the eyes stay on permanently like they do in the movies, otherwise I love your work
Could you use google glass for the helmet.
