I was there 71-72. This brings back some nice things about Vietnam and then some sad memories which i think we all have. I have been back to Vietnam twice since the war. It is a beautiful country and very friendly people. I often think some of the people i meet in Vietnam i may have fought against, but now i like to think of all of them as friends.

I went to Ft. Polk for 11bush, ended up doing a year in Cam Ranh Bay @ HHD Support Command I watch Sammy Davis Junior there, I never did go see Bob hope. I spent a lot of time in the Photo lab in my free time, really enjoyed that, took a lot pictures from helicoptors going on inspections. ETS was April 21st 1972 as a SP4. I also had an early out so I didn't have to do my full 2 years active duty and got out from Ft Lewis Wa

@@deg453 And welcome home to you as well Dennis. When I was in country the "Original Dustoff" had moved down to IV Corps and were based at Canto on the Mekong. Perhaps you know, One of their birds went down in the Seven Sisters in the fall of 71'; all 5 crew members were KIA... S

Interesting to hear about the different types of duty that went on in country. 67/68 Ended up as the front gunner on Army PBR. All the gunners were MP's. MP's pulled a wide range of duty during the course of that conflict.

I agree. I like to travel and so does my wife. I have been in 21 different countries to date and plan to see many more in the future. Take a bad situation and look for the positive side. My best friend of 45 years died five years ago. I miss him dearly. He was like a brother to me. I think about his being gone and is sad, then i immediately think of all the good times we had together and it is a happy place for me.
