    Hey all! Today I'm sharing about my experiences in embedded software/embedded systems coding over the last 10 years. This includes high school, college, and work experiences - it doesn't include all the projects I've done because the video would be way too long then... Feel free to ask me questions in the comments section to clarify things! Cheers!

      You are thankful to God. I hope you will understand.

    I also started as an EE and went into primarily Embedded Software. It's a fun world. The code you write has physical, and often critical, effects on the world, instead of some widget in a cloud or user device. We get the best bits of both hardware and software I think.

    It's interesting how you mentioned your journey through trade school. Initially, I pursued graphic design but eventually dropped out of college. However, four years later, i decided to return to school to study engineering technology. This led me to a job working on drawbridges, where I gained experience in electrical work and learned how to program PLCs. Now, you're back in college pursuing a degree in computer science, but I’m considering switching to computer engineering due to my extensive experience with Arduino over the years. Additionally, in my previous job, i acquired programming skills in Python.

Actually I enjoyed experience as embedded eng, but unfortunately there's no job as embedded eng at that time. So i join with one of oilfield service company as field Specialist but Embedded still on my brain. Until in 2016 I met ESP8266, that's IC make me more interested due to it's wifi+microcontroller. Hey! It sounds like you might be trying to take on too much at once. If you want to focus on designing PCBA boards (which is electrical engineering heavy) you'd want to find some sources on RUclips or Google to get started with that (I'm not that familiar with it - maybe someone else can give a better recommendation here). Although if you'd want to focus on learning programming microcontrollers and trying to understand what basic skillset you might need to get going... check this video out... ruclips.net/video/HFmGk4oufj8/видео.html - Hope this helps a little bit... let me know if you have other questions :) Cheers!

    How important would you say is an understanding of "circuits boards" or "electronics" for embedded engineering? I have a good understanding of software development, writing code, designing systems but no experience with embedded systems. I guess you have APIs to the sensors or motors you need to control to get data but is that really all you need in the end?

    • @GreidiAjalik
      @GreidiAjalik  Год назад +1

      Depends on how "high level" you work in the code. If you're writing drivers as an embedded software engineer, you'll need to understand how to read schematics, understand some about circuit boards (if you need to probe signals real time on the board), and maybe a little bit about electronics. I can tell you, that you can get away without really not needing any of that - I worked at Alstom and all I did was high level programming... never even touched or saw the real circuit boards I was writing code for. Here's a quick video of pretty much of all low level protocols you should be familiar with for embedded software engineering: ruclips.net/video/HFmGk4oufj8/видео.html

Would like to know the duration time of studying at CC. Some people say it takes 3 years for engineering students to transfer 4 year university. Is it really true ?

    Have you looked at Rust? It should be a great language for embedded development as a replacement for C++. The device support is not where they want it to be yet, but it will definitely become more and more relevant to the industry in the next few years.

    Hello, this Dhanush.
    I have done my bachelor's in electronic and communication in 2019. After that I have done internship for two months using Arduino and LPC2148. Due to COVID, I have not done anything after internship. Now in spring 2022, I started doing my masters in electrical engineering (specialization control systems) at Cleveland state university (USA).
    I'm passionate of becoming a embedded systems engineer. I just started doing an online course(5 months) in summer 2022 ( June 1st).
    It includes following modules:
    1. Linux systems
    2. Advanced C
    3. Data structures and logic analysis
    4. Linux internels and networking
    5. Microcontroller (using PIC microcontroller )
    6. Embedded Linux on ARM (using beaglebone black)
    7. C++ programming
    This course finishes by November 2022. I'm planning to do internship/co-op in summer 2023 and get full-time job by Dec 2023.
    I wanted to know whether, this skills are enough or what all the others skills required for embedded software engineer. Also, can you tell me interview preparation for companies in USA ( because, it is different from India)
    Thank you,
    Regards
    Dhanush
